I beg of you, please do not go forward with the AI focused policies. AI as it currently stands is a rapidly sinking ship that a LOT of consumers hate, and that group is coincidentally the group that most frequently uses Firefox. By pushing forward AI-first policies, you are alienating your userbase, destroying the privacy and usability that makes Firefox special, and you're upsetting millions of people that love this service. Please, for the love of god, DON'T GO FORWARD WITH AI. Stick to what makes Firefox special, and it will flourish as every other browser becomes more and more unusable.

Gmail sign-in: Firefox asks me to insert a security key instead of asking me to scan my fingerprint

I have a fingerprint scanner and a slot for a security key, but I have never used a security key, either in the slot or a USB plugin.

When I try to go to Gmail, I enter my gmail address, and then Firefox pops up a screen wanting me to insert my security key, and there are no buttons to change how I verify my identity.

I've hunted all around for what setting in Firefox is causing it, but no luck so far. Ideas?

Stop Auto Reload issue..

Hi ..

I have installed 'Stop Auto Reload' extension on my browser, (..aimed at stopping Meta/Facebook from automatically reloading my page whenever they feel like it, or because I opened a link from a post.)
As directed, I have listed that site in the two relevant boxes, in the 'Options' tab to show that anything with 'facebook' in the URL should NOT auto-refresh..
But down the 'Options' page a bit further, is another box that says:

'..Don't stop a tab from auto reloading if it has a URL that starts with one of the following URLs:'

.. & it lists: 'https://www.facebook.com/checkpoint/?next'

Now.. I did NOT insert that... And the app will NOT let me remove it.! I can press shift to get another line or go back, but I cannot highlight & delete or backspace-remove that entry. Its like the extension has been tampered with..??

So Meta is still interfering with my browser when I'm on there, & stalls & reloads whenever it wants to..!!
Any advice gratefully received.. Thank you..

re: AI and copilot

Both the above have recently appeared on my old Dell Optiplex Desktop and are causing glitches and other problems (slowing down and sluggich performance). For instance, on my Google Search page, my contact list is being blocked by a panel connected with this new installation, and is losing me access to my Contacts. How can I solve this problem, please.

If possible, I would like this programme removed from my compure

I abhor the use of AI in the one browser I use because I thought it was far safer than any other browser. I have switched to Firefox because I knew it hadn't tracked my data, nor did it shove useless and unwanted features onto me without the ability to tell it no. But apparently, that has changed.

The blatant disregard for any opinion other than the CEO's in terms of including the implementation of AI tells me that Mozilla has little care for what their users want. Many people are speaking out against AI, many people here on these forums especially, and I am adding my own voice to the choir.

If the use of AI features continue to be added, I will consider simply switching browsers to one where I can at the very least patch out the AI entirely. I will be taking me, and my funding, with me, and I will not be looking back. I would hope these rising voices will be heard, and taken into consideration, before Firefox all but goes up in blazes and never reignites again.

I don't want AI I don't even want to be near it. I don't want it lurking in the background of my browser. I don't want to waste a single processing cycle on even considering it. I never wanted AI, and they jammed it into my browser.

Currently, they popped up an ad for "AI Enhanced Tab grouping" and said that you can turn it off in the settings. I looked in the settings, and could not find such a thing. Searching for "Tabs" "Suggested" "AI" and other such related terms yields no AI things.

Why tell me I can turn something off in the settings if there is no setting to turn it off?

But that's just the start.

I want nothing to do with AI. I don't want to use a browser that supports it.

I WILL MAKE MY OWN DAMN BROWSER IF I HAVE TO. I QUIT GOOGLE, I'LL QUIT FIREFOX.

Mozilla used to be a safe-haven from all the bullshit other tech companies were pulling. And now this.

GET. AI. OUT. OF. MY. BROWSER.

I DON'T CARE IF IT'S LOCAL. I DON'T CARE IF YOU SAY IT'S SECURE. I DON'T CARE IF IT'S GETTING BETTER. I. DO. NOT. CARE.

GIVE ME THE OPTION TO PURGE AI FROM MY BROWSER OR BY FUCK I'LL FIND A NEW BROWSER.
