I have had a primary/master password set in Firefox for years. It only prompted me to enter it once per session. Since version 90, it now pops up at least once a day at random times to ask for the password again. This has happened on 3 different devices where Firefox is installed.

How can I stop it doing that or at least extend the time to a week? I know there are hidden config options for these, but they look to be on the default values, so have never changed.

Unable to print the following webiste using Firefox for Windows 10 (build 2101):

https://www.duckware.com/tech/wifi-in-the-us.html

Only the first and the last pages had content, the rest were all blank pages. It's a long website, and possibly uses custom font. But then not all pages were printed blank.

Tried resetting printer settings and starting in safe mode. No joy.

Micro$oft Edge printed the website fine.

Two weeks ago my browser updated itself to version 90. Before that everything was OK.

After that..... Firts of all in Google Chrome everything works just fine. In Firefox - most of the time after a google search if I click on one of the results nothing happens. If I open it in a new tab or window, I got a blank page. - I cannot log into my gmail account. I can get to the page where I can type in my account name, but then I get an error message before the web page'd ask for my psw. - youtube does not load properly. If then I click on the youtube icon on the top left corner then it tries to load the page again, and after some time it says I have no internet connection. - google translate service does not answer, - reCAPTCHAs don't work. The browser could not load them, or if it loads something then it won't work. Etc.

Again: everyhing was OK before the version 90 update. I was on a 2 weeks vacation, just got back, but all the same, they don't work.

I tried everything - cleared the history, cache, etc., - checking the firewall, - proxy (I don't use any proxy), - ipv6 - made a new profile - troubleshooting mode (disabeling addons and themes), everything. Nothing helped.

I use Win10. Have an other Win10 PC, on that before the version 90 update I checked the problems above, and neither of them affected the system, and as the update taked place I got the same propblems there too. My firefox profile is synched onto that PC.

After 20+ years of using firefox this is my last try before switching to chrome.

Good evening. I have Firefox set to NOT switch to a new tab when it opens from a link but it does anyway. I clicked the box and unclicked it but it still switches over. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, how can I stop the address bar from searching the web and just search bookmarks and history? I have a separate bar for searching and prefer my web searches show up there.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Our company recently moved away from Chrome so i picked FF as an alternative. However there is a weird bug when I'm connecting to and off VPN (we are using pulse secure client).

Our current setup: The proxy is hosted pac file on company server which is defined in the W10 system settings. When I connect to pulse secure, the pac file can be accessed and I can use internal/external network.

When I connect to the VPN FF decents the change and works fine. However when I disconnect and try to continue browsing, it takes up to 3 minutes for FF to load the pages again.

I'd like to ask if there is an option to modify the time for FF to check for the pac file? the MS Edge does not take more then 5 seconds to detect the change.

Thanks Regards Jan

Whenever I try to print anything in Firefox, I get a box that pops up with a spinner and the message "Preparing Preview". This goes on forever, and never goes away. I've tried the suggestion found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-printing-problems-firefox, and that did not help.

I can print if I go in to about:config and set "print.tab_modal.enabled" to "false". But, this doesn't allow me to preview what I am printing first.

I'm on version 90.0.2 (64-bit) of Firefox.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello.

Up until recently, I could click a link to a locally stored Python source file (.py extension) and it would display as a plain text file in Firefox. This is what I want; e.g., it is a way that I view my notes, refer to examples, and so on.

Starting a few days ago, when I click such a link, I now get a pop-up window with the two options "Open with" or "Save file." I have tried a number of things to get back to the old behavior, including deleting the handlers.json file in my Profile folder, running a full Refresh, and creating a new profile. None of these got me back to the old behavior: displaying the .py file as plain text.

If I set the "Open with" option in that pop-up window to Firefox, I just keep getting the pop-up over and over again, while a new tab is created each time.

Note: if I look at a .py file on GitHub, there is no problem: again, the file just displays.

I suspected this behavior is connected with my having installed the latest version of Python (3.9.6) a few days ago, and I just confirmed this by updating Python on another machine. That is, on the other machine, the .py file would display as plain text until just now, after I update Python there.

So, I believe the Python installation is the cause of the problem, but, nonetheless, it seems to me that I should be able to set (or unset?) something within Firefox to make .py files open as plain text, as they used to.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I have been using Firefox for a little bit on my computer, as I've just formatted my computer to start fresh. But for some reason, SoundCloud audio refuses to play on my browser. Audio for every other website on my browser works completely fine, but for some reason the audio for SoundCloud doesn't work. When I play audio on SoundCloud, my browser says "PLAYING" underneath the SoundCloud tab, but nothing comes through. My tab is not muted, and the audio settings on SoundCloud (the volume slider) is set to max volume. Although I suspected it at first, this doesn't have anything to do with my actual audio device, as it's working just fine and literally all other websites play audio perfectly fine.

Things I have tried:

  • Refreshing Firefox
  • Disabling all add-ons
  • Removing all add-ons
  • Clearing all data

If I'm viewing a pdf in firefox, and I search for a word using ctrl+F, the viewer should jump to the location of the word. But recently for me the viewer is showing the wrong spot in the document. This happens for all pdfs.

For example, if a pdf has the word "fox" on page 4, when I use ctrl+F to search for "fox", firefox will jump to page 3 of the document, not page 4. I have to scroll around searching for the word.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

My problem is that Firefox keeps changing my System PDF viewer configuration when it interacts with a PDF file, even while saving to the hard drive.

I am running Windows 10, FF 90.0.2 (64 bits). I have Sumatra PDF viewer, Foxit Reader and Drawboard PDF viewer installed in my system. Sumatra is the default PDF viewer.

The order of installation was Sumatra -> Foxit -> Drawboard. Up to Foxit I didn't have any issues.

The problem is as follows: 1) If I download a PDF by pressing "Save" in the dialog box, the file is saved to the hard drive, and when I open it, the system PDF viewer has changed from Sumatra to Drawboard.

2) If in settings I chose "Use Windows Default Application", and I select Sumatra, when I click on a PDF, the "Open With" option shows "Applications\Sumatra.exe". However, when I click "OK", the pdf is opened with DrawBoard, and the system PDF viewer has changed again from Sumatra to Drawboard.

3) If in Settings I chose "Open with Firefox", then the file is opened inside FF and again, the system PDF viewer is changed to Drawboard.

Things I tried: + I have refreshed FF, and nothing changed. + I tried to uninstall Sumatra and reinstall it again and nothing changed.

I had the same problem before with Adobe reader. That is, I had installed Sumatra -> Foxit -> Adobe and the same thing happened. I ended up uninstalling Adobe. The I installed Drawboard and I am having the same issue know.

Thanks!

As we all know the fullscreen mode does exactly what you'd expect, it makes Firefox cover the entire screen, including the taskbar. That's great.

However sometimes I'm running more than one window of Firefox and if only one of the windows is in fullscreen it will cover the taskbar even when I alt-tab to any of the windows that aren't in the fullscreen.

I'll provide a screenshot to show my case. And as you'll be able to see if I mouse-over links in the taskbar they're clickable, so the fullscreen window is still active through the area where taskbar should be once you're running a window that isn't in fullscreen.

That's quite annoying and gets in the way so I'm wondering is that an oversight or a bug (I hope it's not an intended feature) and is there a way to fix that in config or will I have to wait for the developers to fix this in a patch eventually, if they would even want to.

When I am on a site and wish to send a message, mail pops up from me to the contact address and then I have all this Chinese text in the body of the message. What is this for? Is it a virus or malware or something else that has been planted in mail used via Firefox. I always use Yahoo mail, separately but this mail box pops up in firefox when I click on contact in many websites.

(Recently) 08/02/2021, I have noticed that when many of the pages are (re)loaded into Windows-Firefox seem to then move toward the bottom of the page. I would like to have some way too force Firefox to load the page and then move to the top of the page or/and refresh the page and move to its top.

I don't know whether this is a new HTML command that people are using to force me to read the ads rather than the article, or whether this is something that is just a curd and I'm just noticing it.

So I'd appreciate if somebody who is more familiar with newer features of HTML and or a newer features of Firefox can tell me how this occurred and then can either tell me how I can remove it or oh suggest that there be an improvement of Firefox

Thanks
