I download a lot of pictures. Until today (after an update) the download notification only showed when I clicked on it. Now it pops up when I download something & covers part of my screen. I have to click somewhere to get rid of it. I don't need to see what is downloading.

I want to have a default download location with the ability to select an alternate location on any download, not to have the last download location remembered as the current save to location.

I have a primary folder to which I want to have the majority of my downloads go to, but on some occasions, I want a download to go to some other location. The current settings "Save files to" and "Always ask you where to save files" do not enable this capability.

Others have asked for this ability too.

Updating to version 98.0 onwards Firefox has started saving a copy of every pdf file I view (open) in my downloads folder.

My settings have not changed:

Tools->Settings->General->Applications: - pdf (application/download): Always ask - pdf (application/force-download): Always ask - pdf (application/pdf): Use Adobe Acrobat DC - pdf (application/x-download): Always ask

And when the "ask" dialog pops up, I choose "open".

I have tried all standard methods/troubleshooting, including resetting the handlers.json file.

The only way to avoid getting a copy in the downloads folder is if I choose "Open in Firefox" (application/pdf) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat DC".

Any solution to this?

Thanks Michael

Hello Mozilla Support!

I just installed Firefox 98.0 this morning. I was very surprised to discover that I can no longer view an attachment in Firefox or open an attachment without also downloading it.

If you can, please ask the developers to reinstate the Download Attachment options to "Open with Firefox" and "Open with [select the program]" without automatically downloading every attachment.

Thank you!

-Steve

Since a recent Firefox update, the download button/icon in the task bar now shows the files(s) every time a 'Take A Screenshot' is used. It is becoming very annoying and the icon usually lights up in blue and the arrow becomes a circle when downloading. Can the window which opens with a list of files and 'Show All Downloads', when not selected to do so, be disabled? Thanks.

Starting yesterday, the button next to the address bar for download progress will randomly open as if I clicked on it. Happens whether or not something is downloading and whether or not there's anything in the download history or not. I haven't changed anything with Firefox. No new addons or settings changes. I didn't change anything on my system, either. Same day as any other. Just started happening.

With the new version (98.0), a new behavior emerges. I do many image downloads individually (save image as), and now, when I download an image, the download panel comes up, a new feature, but it is an annoying behavior. I prefer the old way: when I want to open the downloads panel I click on the download icon on the menubar. This page apparently describes this new behavior: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manage-downloads-preferences-using-downloads-menu How do I prevent the downloads panel from automatically opening when I don't want it to open? Unfortunately it's tough to get a picture of this. I tried for a movie on my phone so maybe you can see what it looks like, though right now it looks like it won't upload.

Hi

I'm guessing this is because of the latest update to Firefox, but every time a download finishes, the pop-up box for the downloads keeps coming up. I guess this is considered intuitive to let you know a download has finished, but I could do without it. I find it a bit distracting and it gets in the way. Is there a specific option that can disable it in the config?

Thanks

"And now, every time you start a download, Firefox will automatically bring up the Downloads panel by default. This means you’ll experience minimal interruptions and easily find your downloaded files. Plus, to avoid having to close it several times, the panel won't show if there are multiple downloads in progress."

in all actuality, this is not a minimal interruption, this is a massive interruption. if i want to see my download ill open the download toolbar button! how do you stop this annoying popup? do i have to go back to an older version? is there an option to turn this off? there are tons of articles all the way back to 2011 on how to turn this off, but they dont apply to the newest version.

When downloading financial data to Moneydance software, the download correctly opens Moneydance and update data file correctly, but after v98 Firefox update a second identical .qfx file is downloaded to my desktop which I then have to securely delete as a redundant file on my PC.... This is new behavior, has always worked perfectly previously. Firefox settings under Files and Application header are as follows: Downloads: Save files to Desktop Applications: Actions are set to use Moneydance.exe for all OFX and QFX financial data

The extra file showing up on my desktop is new and unwanted. It seems to be unneeded as it can be deleted without any obvious effect and no loss of data in Moneydance

Every time I do a new (first) save to a firefox item, I get an annoying brief display showing files which were opened.

I don't need such a display and would like to turn it off: It is distracting and might cause me to miss a REAL error message.

I am attaching a gif photo of this display, which is new to the latest firefox.

How can I turn off this feature?
