I have a new ubunutu 16.04 machine which I recently connected to my workplace domain where multiple users login to the same machine with there workplace account names. When a user login to the machine it logins successfully but when try to open firefox get this message

your firefox profile cannot be loaded. it may be missing or inaccessible

I tried some suggested solutions:

sudo chmod -R 777 .mozilla/ rm -rf ~/.mozilla/ rm -rf ~/.cache/mozilla/ https://askubuntu.com/a/314915/304905

I tried all these but nothing worked. I wonder how I can fix this permanently from my machine local admin account so that when a new user logins to the machine for the first time firefox works without problems and without him having to do something?

I am unable to play youtube videos on firefox Quantum, version 65.0(64 bit). I have a ubuntu 18.04 os. I tried disabling all add ons and starting firefox on safe mode, but none of that has worked.

I am getting the message: "your browser doesn't currently recognise any of the video formats available" Click here to visit our frequently asked questions about HTML5. Clicking on the link tells me that mozilla doesn't support H.264 and MSE&H.264.

Hello. I had naively let my computer do an upgrade of Mozilla. Guess what. All data gone. History, bookmarks, add-ons. I didn't have a back-up of bookmarks, well, at least not recent.

How can I get them back? I've spent a lot of time with setting up Firefox so it would be comfortable to me, I've spent my time in it, and now it's all gone and I don't even remember the name of some add-ons I used to use.

When i try to use Page Up or Page Down, or Cursor Arrow Keys on the keyboard, a webpage may go from top to bottom for example! When then attempting to page up, it goes up 1 page and then back down to bottom of page.

To compound the annoying problem, there is no Down Arrow at bottom of scroll bar. So we have to click and drag the scroll bar up and down to view a webpage. This is not normal behavior and we can't figure it out. It could be a setting we need to correct, but we don't know which one it is. (see comments below on requesting the PDF printout of FireFox settings)

Could someone please help us ... and perhaps it can help others as well. We could not find such a problem amung your "help topics".

Thank You!

I have a newly installed Lubuntu desktop adn when I start Firefox after about 5 to 10 minutes the system slows to the point where the cursor moves intermittently. The problem only occurs when I open the Firefox application.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and the issue still occurs.

Is there any known issues with Firefox running on Lubuntu?

I'm on Ubuntu 18.04, running Firefox 64.

I've tried importing directly through the wizard from chrome, and from chromium. I've tried importing through an html file (the html file itself is fine). Just literally nothing happens. I've tried running FF from console to see if there were any error messages, nope nothing.

Does this just not feature just not work at all?

Firefox not executing external application

I am on Ubuntu 18.04 with Unity and Firefox 64.0.2. It stopped opening automatically Magnet links (probably after one of the updates). Thus, I started to look how to set it up again. After I set network.protocol-handler.expose.magnet Firefox asked me what application to use (as expected). Nevertheless, it did not seem to be launching the application. In order to debug this, I created a script file with the following content: echo "X" > ~/out and associated this script file with magnet protocol, by choosing this script file from the list of "applications" that pops up after I click on the magnet link. After I confirm to Firefox by pressing "Open File" nothing happens and the "out" file is not created - thus I conclude that Firefox is not executing the "application" (my script file in this case) at all.

It must have changed recently, how can I force Firefox to run an external application?

Ubuntu 18.04 There is a proxy. No any antivirus software installed.

On some sites there is warning: Your connection is not secure. If i pressed "Advanced". The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. After that, i choose "Add Exception" and "Get certificate". After receiving certificate, i get

the site provides valid, verified identification".

So I can close "Add Exception" window and refresh the page. All works fine.

Another way if HSTS used. There is not chance to "Add Exception". But sometimes i just need to reload page. Or another page with the same domen load successfully.

What i tried todo:

updates certificates: sudo dpkg-reconfigure ca-certificates

remove cert file of firefox: ~/.mozilla/firefox/qrpsqrx2.default/cert9.db.

It seems to be usefull, but not a long time. So: problem still exist.

I had screen tearing and graphical glitches when browsing. [layers.acceleration.force-enabled = true] solved screen tearing, but I still had some graphical glitches from time to time which now seem to have been fixed with [layers.force-active = true].

Could this be a working configuration on the long term? Currently it is running like a charm...

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 and had already turned off hardware acceleration and smooth scrolling without the desired results before trying the above-mentioned things. I also played around with the xorg.config.d settings of the OS...

Best regards Mike

I've exhausted Google and Reddit so you're my last hope. Recently migrated to Linux Mint (18.3 Cinnamon) and everything is fine, except passwords are not stored or displayed. If I restart in safe mode, there are my passwords!

So I have tried: disabling all extensions, both one at a time and all of them; selecting default theme (which I was using anyway, although I tried the other dark/light themes as well); disabled Javascript; turned off hardware acceleration; using the default toolbar. Each time I tried something I restarted FF to try and isolate it.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF. I have refreshed FF... all to no avail. I have even tried changing video drivers (no, me neither but it was a suggestion on Reddit and I'm getting desperate)

I've had suggestions to use a password manager but that's not really a path I want to follow.

I'd be grateful for any ideas.

Before the latest update on 9/17/18, I was able to use the arrow keys to move the page up and down with no issues other than occasionally I had to click somewhere on the page to get the arrows to start working. Now, I don't even know how to describe it. It's broken. I arrow down and it adds a cursor at the end of text, but you can't type, then all of a sudden it jumps to the bottom of the page and I can't arrow back up either. It just jumps all over the page. wth??? It's even doing it on this page. It's frustrating because I primarily use the arrow keys to navigate without a mouse. I've restarted FF and my Ubuntu OS. Any insight would be appreciated.
