I'm having to use a back up computer. I opened FireFox and I have no tab bar and no way to open tabs. I have this incredibly annoying sidebar that I was at least able to move to the right. But I can't make it horizontal or clear it. I need the sidebar gone and my tab bar back.
If I right click the sidebar, I do not get an option to get rid of it.
I have checked settings repeatedly. I have even attempted to add a button at the upper right to open tabs. It goes to the sidebar with no labels and no way to clear. It's maddening.

Back in November (2024) I began noticing an absorbent number of cookies in “Manage Cookies and Site Data” (MCSD). Considering I delete cookies with fair regularity daily, this is unusual. The amount that I am seeing now, is around 190 advertising/Tracking cookies even when I only visit one or two sites. If I remove them and recycle the page and return to MCSD they are all back in storage in only those few seconds. This process can go on forever. This occurs even when I disconnect from the internet. How is this possible, where are these companies storing this stuff on my computer and how do I remove them and/or stop them from self populating? I have a Dell 64 something, running windows 10 I have Ad Blocker and Privacy Badger, along with a few others that are not security based. See Attachments
Thanks

(btw my browser is Firefox Nightly) Don't get me wrong, I love having vertical tabs. It's less busy than the horizontal tabs and I can look through my tabs more quickly. But, the way it's implemented sucks - It makes the layout of the webpage pop anytime I use it; there is no keyboard button attached to opening and closing the tab (I have to go through my horizontal bar to open my vertical bar); and recently my browser forgets the sidebar settings, meaning I have to re-check the "Hide tabs and sidebar" setting.
Bonus request Can the sidebar just go over the webpage (i.e. like the application menu) instead of squishing it? I'm ok with having some webpage features temporarily covered if it means I don't have to see the screen pop into a new rectangular shape every time I switch tabs.

I look at porn on my Android phone. I use Private Browsing to do so. Why are my Private Browsing addresses appearing as Firefox Suggest results that appear outside of Private Browsing as well? And why does Pornhub show me a personalized home page when I'm using Private Browsing? None of these pages are in my browser history because I've only accessed them via Private Browsing. But these "features" sort of defeat the purpose of it don't you think?
I've just switched from Chrome to Firefox and never had this issue with Chrome.
why is it SO difficult to remove a tab??
I would like more information on fingerprinting/tracking and also would like to understand who and why i have been subjected to it.

Let's imagine that I'm trying to access a server on port 80, let's call it http://example.com:80 . I'd like to see if that site is actually active. When I try and do that Firefox instead goes to https://example.com:443 . In my example, that's actually a completely different site that I do not want to access (for completeness port 80 is used for certificate renewal of a whole bunch of different names that are all set up on other ports, of which 443 is one).
In both a regular Firefox browsing window and in a private browsing window, Firefox decides to access https://example.com:443 instead of http://example.com:80 , despite me explicitly typing "http://example.com:80" in the URL bar.
How do I prevent Firefox from doing this when I explicitly request an http site?

As the title suggests, I've found that exceptions added for 'Enhanced Tracking Protection' simply do not function in a private window; they're entirely ignored. The discovered 'Tracking Content' (from shield in the address bar) will list the exact domain that's whitelisted and the network tab of the devtools will label the URL as blocked due to tracking content. Obviously this is wrong, that short of per-window type settings, this should be global (and makes no sense to differentiate anyhow).
Switching to a standard window fixes this, however, and the exceptions are taken into account.
