Hi, for the past week whenever I open Firefox (FF) it works normally for about two minutes, then slows, then causes my entire mac to slow and freeze. If I don't force quit FF quickly, my mac crashes. Once I force quit FF everything is fine. I've been using Chrome for the past week or so hoping FF would fix itself with an update but no go.

Anyone else having this issues?

One site that I visit is freezing up. This has only started to happen in the past two days. The size is Adam4Adam.com. I have tried troubleshooting mode. I have cleared my cache and my cookies. The site in the process of loading up freezes. What's more, is that not only that site freezes. All my open tabs in Firefox freezes when I load that site.

Please let me know if you can help.

Many thanks.

Hi can somebody help me please? Sitting here on Christmas Eve at work trying to fix Firefox.

In a nutshell I have a really really annoying bug with Firefox which is going to cause me to pull all my hair out.

In the past the program used to check for updates and it used to work fine during this procedure.

Lately though I've been experiencing a really strange bug.

Whenever Firefox checks for updates the browser then cannot load a single webpage or anything while it is checking. Sometimes the checks can take around 3-5 minutes to complete.

Any videos or streams come to an eventual halt.

I have tried tweak a few settings in about:config such as app.update.interval

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the browser - No change. This still happens usually about 5-8 times a day.

This computer is used for medical emergencies for our clients. We need a full functioning browser. I thought Firefox was that browser but I am beginning to think about installing something else now.

In these situations lives could be put at risk and I want to remedy this problem now before the new year. I imagine we will have a lot of patients coming in. I need to quickly submit forms at times and I really need a stable browser.

a) Can I turn off updates? I would prefer to check manually for updates once a week or so via Help -> About b) Can I reduce the frequency of the checks for updates? c) Is this going to be a normal feature for Firefox from now on?

Searched the forums and web, no one seems to have answer that I have found. Firefox 95.02, Windows 10 Pro, 8 GB RAM, Dell Notebook, fiber optic Internet 156 mbps Start by running CCleaner, disable un-needed startups, extensions, ad-ons, ect., then roboot, have clean slate. About 3 months ago, after about 15 minutes Firefox slows down, then quits loading images, then eventually quits loading whole pages. If I was blocking content it would not work for at least 10 minutes. This evening, 21.38 clean boot, start FF, go to Facebook, read notifications, 1 tab open, nothing else running 21.55 images fail to load, still one tab open Researched more and ran about:memory, memory-report.json.gz unable to figure out how to upload Run CCLeaner, I do not save cookies or cache after FF closes, reboot 22.04 start Firefox, 1 tab open nothing else 22.16 images slow loading 22.20 nothing loads, try other websites like NOAA radar, all fine Reminds me I saw at the bottom left "Waiting for static.xx.fbcdn.net" Screen shot of Task Manager attached, FF running 10 times, 154 kb image will not upload Failed to upload, copying this txt and starting over. Images loaded fine after reboot Facebook works fine on Edge, I do not have/use Chrome or Google Facebook is the only page Firefox has issues with.

In the last few weeks FF has started running really slow. Launch takes 4-5 minutes, the browser won't navigate to any webpages. Preferences can't be opened. The force quit window show the app to regularly moving in and out of a "not responding" state. I had version 95.0.2 installed (the latest). I'm running OSX 10.15.7 (catalina). I uninstalled an reinstalled 95.0.2 and the same problem persisted. I downgraded to 94.0, and created a new profile in the process, and still had the performance problem. Chrome and Safari don't have the problem, and my machine is running as expected with all other apps. I don't have any sites load upon launch. I have 16G of RAM.

Since I can't open prefs, I can't purge caches or anything like that.

Hello,

since a week or so portal I frequently use - www.wp.pl started to work really slow. It crashes all the time, browser becomes inoperative, closes by itself, etc. It obviously happens to all pages, articles, services related to wp.pl. I cannot open a single page from wp.pl domain without issues. Before it was working completely fine, all of this started to occur for no reason. Also, it happens to wp.pl only. All other pages/portals/platforms function normally. I checked on different browsers - IE, Edge, Chrome and it works fine. I also cleared cache/cookies/browser history in Firefox and this didn't help at all. Therefore there must be something wrong with Firefox browser. Could you please investigate?

Thanks, Jacek

I had tried everything. I have deactivated all FOUR of my plugins and started up Firefox again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a fresh copy. I installed Firefox on an SSD even and it is still painfully slow. I have the same plugins and such on Chrome and that one opens up immediately. So I have been using Chrome a lot more lately because Firefox is opening slowly these days. Takes 15-20 seconds for Firefox to open every single time. I have deactivated each plugin one by one to see if they were causing the issue and sure enough, all of them were clean. Firefox still opens slowly.

On an unrelated note, I have been using Chrome a lot more lately also because some things on a webpage don't work on Firefox. I can't explain it. Like on the hickory farms website, I click on the Add To Cart button and it looks like it is being pressed, but nothing is added to the cart. This type of thing happens across the internet on many different sites. When I go to Chrome, everything works as it ought to. I have my settings set to Standard in Privacy and Security. I don't know where else I have to check and change things to get those buttons and other links and such to work.

System: MSI B640 Tomahawk. I5 10600KU 32GB RAM

Video: MSI 3070 X3

System Drive: 250GB fast Samsung SSD, with 50% free.

System OS: W10Pro_x64 21H1, Defender, no Firewall, no extra AV. Firefox_93.0_x64

Network: TYPE: Dedicated FIBER LAN Provider: Telenet Account Type: FIBER_200 Plus +

Addons: Adblock + µblock FBPurity Block Sender New Tab Override Cookie Manager and Cookie quick Manager Auto-High-Quality for youtube Ant Downloader Video Downloadhelper Cute Save Button WebP Image Converter Translate Web Page

Additional Information: Open Pinned Tabs: In between 25 and 60, depending on my current activities.

Tried: Disabling each add-on until all were off. Safe Start. Nothing helps.

Understandings: 1) No browser is made to run up to 60 open tabs (possibly even more)!!! 2) I run a "plethora" (compared to most users) if add-ons; these also bring the use speed down. 3) Resource used: 2GB (with "mere 30 pages" open.

BUT: DESPITE that: I ALSO understand that, considering my system and Network Type, it should not even be problematic with 200 pages open at once. 2GB over 32GB of RAM? Not the slightest issue (and it often runs at 4GB RAM in use). My CPU never runs half high, even when I have like 60 pages open: Should not be an issue then either. My Video Card has plenty resource over as well when at highest for me usage." Again, it should be no issue. My Fiber Netware? Telenet BVBA, Mechelen Test results: Ping: 5ms Jitter: 2ms Download: 904.2 Mbps Upload: 038.3 Mbps Not the best, not the worst, but for simple browsing, more than, I would assume, plenty.

So, what gives, what is the issue? No extreme strain on the system, no background high-resource issues, sure: one or two add-ons in Firefox but these as well do not strain my system, no AV issues, no Firewall issues (I turned that off, I fail to get the need for one as a house-dog-tree user), yet slow performance. Also, while 30'ish tabs running, 2GB used of RAM? My my, what the hell do they do as Site Admins to have these amounts (and NO, I do not do porn, thank you.  :P I am well aware of other people having insane issues surfing porn, as I helped many of these folks)? Sure, Deviant is a larger one that is open, being a graphical site, but like Quora, FB, Hot- and G-Mail and similar, these ain't, so to get a 2GB usage is weird, I would assume. I said, assume: yes, I am not specifically an internet know-all, I know of networking as a former NOVEL Netware Supervisor under UNIX (also Spupervisor), but Networking in a company is not the same as internet.

So, what is going on, why is my browser so slow? Having turned of all and 1 page open it's lightning fast, but now ... So, it is the open tabs, and the add-ons, though when turned off, I see no real difference. Brings it to tabs. How come, it is this "heavy", even for my system, please?

Thank you. Xog.

Firefox stops working several times a day & cannot access websites. PC is connected via Ethernet to the modem/router. I get a message website cannot be found. I called the ISP a couple times & they show me connected to the internet.

Firefox will not completely close & let me run it again. Task Manager lets me remove all but one occurrence of FF, which prevents me from running another copy of it.

I end up restarting the PC several times a day to get connected again.

The last time I was looking in Control Panel > Network Connections & that window froze & could not close out of it. I could open FF over the Control Panel window but could not run FF. I let it sit while using a wireless device to look up stuff. The monitor went to sleep because there was no signal, probably because the PC went to sleep. I could not wake up the PC & had to power it off.

Another time Network Connections > Local Area Connections was stuck on "identifying..." and never found the router.

All this started happening after I tried a USB wireless adapter & installed its driver & Cisco software that got installed with the driver. I have uninstalled all this & updated the wired network adapter driver.

I tried to restore Windows back to an earlier date a couple times but a message said the restore was not successful.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks

Internet is extremly slow, some sites will not open and i cant logg in to Facebook.

Under settings,i have tried different settings. Right now i have the standard setting. Under Help,i have tried to restore, diagnos and clean catch and restart, but it has not solved the issue.

What could be causing these issues? Do i have to do some special settings or do i have to add some Add-ons/Extensions in order to have Firefox work normal again?

I have refreshed multiple times and that works for about an hour before it goes back to the initial slow behavior. I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no change. I have uninstalled all plugins and addons with the same result. I really do not wish to stop using firefox after so long but I am at the end of my knowledge on how to rectify this . Any suggestions are helpful.

For the last two days and multiple times loading the firefox browser, it has taken about five minutes for the browser to load on our Dell Inspiron desktop, running Windows 11. Nothing happens for about one minute, then the spinning blue circle appears, then firefox starts to load, then the screen goes back to the desktop, then a black screen appears, then some white rectangles start to appear across the top of the screen, then the screen goes back to desktop, then back to the black and white top-of-browser window that is still trying to load, and then finally after the five minutes, our home page loads. However, clicking on a bookmarked website, or typing in a website in the address bar results in a 2-3 minute wait for that site to load. And this happens time after time with the computer still on, and also startup after startup. If this should continue for a few more days, we will start using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, and also cancel our subscription to Mozilla VPN. This cannot continue!

About a month ago, I started having a problem where all pages on YouTube randomly stop loading. It does this with no rhyme or reason and usually for around a minute at a time. It just hangs until it abruptly starts working again. Occasionally (like if I try to log out while this is happening), it will give me an error saying I'm "offline", even though I am most definitely not offline. During this time, all other websites (Google, Wikipedia, Hulu, etc) work fine, so I know it's not my Internet. Other than that, it doesn't give me any errors.

I am using a MSI laptop on Windows 10. Oddly enough, YouTube loads properly in incognito mode and in Windows Edge, but clearing my cache and cookies, disabling my extensions, and updating Firefox to the latest version didn't solve the problem. I even enabled each of my extensions separately in incognito mode while YouTube wasn't loading in a normal window, and each time YouTube loaded properly in the private window while simultaneously not loading in the normal one, so I know none of my extensions are causing the problem. Restarting my computer also didn't do anything. This problem persists when logged in or out of YouTube, no matter the account.

I reported this issue to YouTube back on December 29, but it hasn't been fixed. I also made a post on the YouTube Community a few days ago, but I didn't get any helpful answers. Any help would be appreciated!

Since the last Firefox update (92.0.1 64-bit), my bookmarks menu is slow to load, and also slow for navigating. It's slow to load the list when I open Bookmarks tab. And it's slow when I move my cursor up/down the bookmarks, it takes a bit for the highlighted bookmarks to catch up. It's very odd. I don't really have a lot of Bookmarks, I would guess ~500 total. Plus I am using plenty of RAM with Windows 7 on a SSD.

Bookmarks loading and accessing was lightning-fast prior to this last Firefox update. I have searched on this Forum for answers, plus Google.... no luck yet. I'm sure there is an answer. Does anyone have it?? Thanks for any help. Dave F.

PS - I LOVE Firefox. Many thanks to Mozilla for a terrific product! ;-)

A few weeks ago I noticed that browsing in Firefox started being slower / sluggish.

It usually happens in YouTube or Twitch, but can also happen while scrolling with the mouse in wikipedia for example.

Some examples: -When having a Twitch stream open, the stream is running fine, but when clicking and moving the volume slider on the player, it does not move smoothly, and with some delay. -When doing a bit more heavy browsing, sometimes a tab might get "stuck", for example, the twitch stream might start to buffer for a few seconds. I notice the buffering is not related to any bandwidth related issue. -Firefox reacts slower (or with a small delay) while moving between tabs, clicking on links, etc. This usually happens only after a few hours after launching and browsing with Firefox.

Most happen after a while since I launch Firefox. And by a while I mean maybe 2-3 hours, and I don't have a ton of tabs open. It becomes slower much, much faster than it used to in the past.

Now, sometimes it can take Firefox up to 30 seconds to close completely, before I can launch it again.

I had the same Extensions installed before these issues started happening.

I tried uninstalling Firefox completely, then manually deleting the remaining profile folder, and do a fresh install of the latest Firefox version.

I checked the Windows Task Manager, and it shows (14) processes under Firefox. Is this normal? I tried unticking the "Use recommended performance settings" and restarting Firefox, but it still reached (14) processes after a couple of minutes.

I am not sure if it is related to Firefox itself. My computer is 5 years old but functioning properly...

I did not check if similar issues happen on a different browser. I am just so used to Firefox.

I had a few weird bug in Windows 10, but those existed for a good while now, and are not similar to the ones I experience while browsing with Firefox. I didn't notice anything similar while watching video files in a Media Player.

I am not sure if it can be hardware related. All seem to be working properly...

I want to figure out what is causing this. If you need any more information let me know.

Firefox is slow; so slow I have to use another browser, Brave, to get around this.

It is not about 'how many open tabs' or 'what extensions are doing'. I can have one profile open with one tab and still wish there would be a better response.

I have lots of profiles. I think the performance was better when I first started Firefox on this computer. I wonder If I eliminate profiles will I get a better performance.

How do I go proving this? - How easy can I take the profiles folder copy and rename it then start firefox with a profile folder and only one profile and one tab then What?

I did not gain a significant advantage in the load times for firefox. The load time for the browser with only the one empty tab 22 - 26 seconds . The load time for yahoo.com main page 31 -36 seconds. The load time for a link on the yahoo main page 20 - 22 seconds.

The question was "does having a large profile folder slow response time for firefox"? I believe I am seeing that this is true. When I load the yahoo profile it can take 10+ seconds more to resolve the main page and up to an addition 5-7 seconds to resolve the opened tabs.

Know that the browser was the only user process opened at the times of the tests. Know that the internet connection is the primier package and I have been monitoring the speeds frequently recently. I am good with the internet connection times. Know that I know the quick fixes and either there was no improvement or the inconvience of doing with out dark reader is no option.

Now understand I did not run these tests through a testing suite. These test were a couple one offs I used to form an opinion. Everyday usage forms an opinion in everyday users without hard data to coincide with the usage.
