How to I restore the bookmarks (years worth!) from my primary profile?

This problem has been covered in this forum before. However, the various solutions have not worked for me because it seems my backup previous.jsonlz4 was corrupted. I did exit Firefox normally, but I am not sure because I have been using multiple different browsers in recent months.
This is what happened this morning: my Firefox on Mac OSX was closed normally, and I rebooted the MacBook. Afterwards, I could not restore old tabs because "Recently Closed Tabs" and "Recently Closed Windows" are greyed out.
I tried copying recovery.jsonlz4 from the last folder and putting it into the main folder as sessionstore.jsonlz4, then reopening Firefox. Still have no restored tabs. Here was the surprise, which I do not know how to interpret.
I just checked some files and found this error message in sessionrestore-logs folder:
1770888233416 SessionStore ERROR SessionSaver write() rejected with error: Error: SessionFile is closed(resource:///modules/sessionstore/SessionFile.sys.mjs:424:29) JS Stack trace: write@SessionFile.sys.mjs:424:29 write@SessionFile.sys.mjs:47:32 _writeState@SessionSaver.sys.mjs:375:29 _saveState@SessionSaver.sys.mjs:308:17 _saveStateAsync@SessionSaver.sys.mjs:354:10 saveStateAsyncWhenIdle@SessionSaver.sys.mjs:194:14 requestIdleCallback/<@Timer.sys.mjs:180:15 observe@AsyncShutdown.sys.mjs:570:17

To make a long story short, since this morning, Firefox had no more profiles after an update. The one I am currently using, which came to exist this morning and only contains information from this morning, is the only one that shows up when I try to follow the recovery instructions. My internet history beyond today seems to no longer exist. How do I recover my bookmarks and passwords? Or are they gone forever?

I forgot the password to sign in and when I reset, a new profile was created for me and all my data are gone.
Now, I even know the original password. I did not know, I will lose my data. How can I get my data back? Please help.

My wife's old Windows 10 HP laptop quit working last week do to some Operating System failure while it was trying to do an update. It finally did a reboot and now it is useless, at least as it is! It will NOT complete the boot process after trying all of the options offered. All that I am able to is exit out of Windows to a "DOS prompt." I am able to get to the Mozilla Firefox folder and others contain within. The new Windows 11 laptop I bought her is working fine with a fresh Firefox browser installed about a week ago. What she wants is her web links, settings and saved passwords "copied" from the old laptop and installed on the new one! We have no idea how many there are to retrieve! I'm hoping that there might only be one folder that I can copy via "command line" prompt to a USB drive and move the file(s) to the new laptop the same way. Can anyone tell me what I need to know? Thanks in advance! Tim O.
Moving previous.jsonlz4 to ../sessionstore.jsonlz4 doesn't help.
What should I do?
How should I react to this????

With the "Open previous windows and tabs" preference checked on a PC (don't know if Mac or other has this issue), if you had multiple windows open, closing all of them at once via "Close all windows" in the Firefox app's Tasks menu on the taskbar (with multiple windows open, right click the Firefox app on the taskbar to open the Tasks menu, then click "Close all windows"; if only one window open, it'll say something singular instead of plural), it used to be so that when you try to reopen Firefox, all your multiple previous windows would reopen. Instead, it now only reopens one of them, I think maybe the last window you were looking at.
Now you could try to reopen the other windows via the History -> Recently closed windows, but that's assuming that the other windows are saved onto there, because it seems that there are times when they are no longer saved there.
I'm not sure this is for sure the reason why it's no longer in History anymore, but my place has had some electrical work being done by the city outside, so twice there have been notices given that the power would be shut off within a short period, meaning twice my PC was shut off within that short period. My guess is that after it shut off the first time, I had that short period of time to reopen the other closed Firefox windows because it was indeed saved in History, but I didn't notice that Firefox didn't reload ALL of the windows - only one. So when the power shut off a second time, that history was lost. This is just a guess - maybe Firefox auto deletes it after some time, idk. But mine are no longer there, so fml I guess.
I also tried sessionstore-backup, but the earliest one was within the last 2 weeks and the other windows still were not in the History.
Is there some second Preference checkbox option that needs to be checked, or can y'all change it back to what it was before?
The new version thinks I am still on W10. I am on W11. On boot up this morning Firefox has lost all my icons on the web page. All my passwords have gone.

What is the fix?

I shut down my Linux laptop one day and when I started it the next day, all my tabs were gone. Annoying, but I spent some time searching for the most important ones and got on with my life.
We have a class picture book that is only accessible by faculty from campus or using the secure VPN. It helps us to learn people's names. It is an HTML file. One day, I needed to look someone up. Ordinarily that would open a new tab in the browser I have running, but it didn't. A whole new Firefox appeared for it and there were all my lost tabs.
Wut?
Now I can use the picture book to alternate between my old tabs and my new ones. How on Earth can this happen? It isn't exactly something that is broken, just something I don't understand.
