I have the files of my original firefox profile, i just need someone help me figure out if i can recover my passwords from here, i put all the files back into a new profile but it just gives me my old bookmarks, nothign else.

I have been using old-style profiles for a long time, but they didn't work so well for me. The new profiles system was great - specifically that each one was a FF instance that could be opened and quit independently of any others (and most importantly had a different icon). I setup 5 or 6.

But i quit all my FFs due to memory issues. Then after restarting a FF, it was an instance from the old profiles system and there was no profiles item in main menu (under three horiz lines top-right).

Going to about:profiles didn't show them (as expected).

I started from command-line to launch FF with Profile Manager and after selecting a profile that way, then there now a Profiles menu item. However it empty.

I had a look and there is a ` ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profile Groups` that contains a number of sqlite files and each has a -shm and -wal file also. I looked in the profiles table for each of these. 1 lists all the new profiles I created and one points to default old-style Profile instance that opens (ie. Profiles/Main-Firefox-Window).

about:config - browser.profiles.enabled is true

I also noticed a browser.profiles.forceEnableRefresh but it appears to be undocumented.

My question: HOW can I restore my new profiles? I put some work into icons etc.. and of course their history, so i don't want to have to recreate them.

Does anyone know how to restore a previous profile? I had a situation like this: I had Firefox 140. I decided to upgrade to 147. Then I upgraded to 145 and all my data disappeared. The system is Linux Ubuntu.

In Firefox my previously working Bookmark folders are empty, everything I previously bookmarked is gone, and now firefox will not let me create any bookmarks to replace them .

After performing the most recent Firefox update, I was greeted with the "create a new profile prompt", rather than having it open my old one. When going to "about:profiles", ALL FILES in the Root Directory of my old, default profile have the same date as the update, or after. Not a single file is older than that and all my history and bookmarks are gone. The option "Restore Previous Session" was not shown after the update.

PLEASE HELP!!

PS: This happened on a Macbook Pro. All other profiles are the same as they were before the update, having kept all history and bookmarks.

Mozilla, in their infinite wisdom, sent me a note about something new in firefox, by displaying it in a new instance of Firefox.

It wasn’t until I closed my normal session, that I realised a new instance of firefox was also running, and shut it down on.

In shutting the new instance down after my usual session, it overwrote all my normal tab settings🤬

Q1. Are my normal tab settings recoverable? Q2. Why did Mozilla think it a good idea to open a new instance of Firefox to send me information, rather than simply open a new tab.

NB This is in Windows 11

After most recent update all my bookmarks and passwords disappeared and I cannot seem to recover them. This is extremely frustrating. Has anyone else had this happen? I tried using the recovery process but it did not work.

Following a restart procedure on Windows 10 today, all my saved Firefox Passwords have now gone! (Firefox 144.0.2 (64-bit))

Can I recover them?

do know computers very well, have used firefox for all my web browsing, firefox kept crashing according to screen so it opened saved apparent older version and I lost all my bookmarks and passwords, please help

I restarted my computer, but my tabs did not reappear. I restarted, but I have lost all my bookmarks, and I cannot add bookmarks. All Mozilla recommendations have failed.

Hello, I need urgent help. My Firefox browser started acting glitchy, so I restarted my computer. When it came back on, Firefox had lost all my bookmarks and passwords. I've spent 10 hours trying to fix it myself. I've found my old data files on the computer, but I can't get Firefox to use them. Safari works perfectly fine. I need you to remotely access my iMac and recover my Firefox profile with all my passwords and bookmarks.

Hello Team, today suddenly while restarting the PC, I did not close Firefox and restarted it. But when I opened it, a new Firefox appeared in front of me where Password bookmarks are nothing, how can I get them back?

Hello i have recently continued the windows 10 extended version and i cannot regain my bookmarks that use to be there. They are not in the back up or the restore options in the bookmarks tab. We have tried to solve this with articles off of the Mozilla website and we have not been able to regain the bookmark access.

I'm sure someone will have answered this somewhere but is there a way to backup and restore the native Mozilla Tab Groups. I've seen plenty of people recommend other Group Tab extensions but I like the inbuilt one combined with Containers.

I've read that you can backup the whole Mozilla profile folder and this should work but I've tried that and failed, I used a few extensions to backup sessions and that also failed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Due to the previous thread locked, I had to start a new threat but it continues from the previous.

When using the scrounger located here; https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/scrounger.html. It creates a JSON file which can be renamed to as used in session profiles; sessionstore.jsonlz4. This is exactly what I've done then copied it to the new profile location: \Profiles\jj55ob2s.Default (release) and I don't see my tabs restored on a FireFox engine clone browser ?
