Hi,

I got several version updates from Firefox, Once it is updated every time I open firefox I get "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." error popup. After clicking OK button two to three times firefox will get opened and If I try to open a new tab or enter website URL this popup appears again and until I click OK it doesn't allow me to do anything on the browser. I tried all the articles steps to fix this but none worked. At last, I downgraded version to 48 and this error doesn't appear.

I have both Firefox and Dev edition on my notebook in a Windows 7 OS, and use the Firefox one as don't remembering history, while Dev edition remembers history. Both were updated to the latest version, 63.0b8 (64bit), few days ago, and were running smoothly until yesterday when while running it with 3 tabs suddenly the notebook stopped, and I couldn't do anything as couldn't even move mouse, so after few minutes I could open the Task Manager and find out that the 3 Firefox processes were consuming like 110% of CPU, so took like 10min for the processes to go down and finally I could see that Firefox was really consuming such CPU processing time, so I uninstalled both versions, and re-installed then again, and then seems problem was still happening with high CPU usage, so I tried to install the previous 63.0b7 version and always it was updated automatically to the 63.0b8 version, even that on Options I kept the manual update. As during the re-install of both versions I didn't see that it was using a different profile, then at the end, I lost the bookmarks I had in one profile, so now I can't run any previous version, as both Dev and normal edition always update automatically. Any chances to keep using older version and not this latest one ? thanks,

I gave up on Firefox due to its insistence that I could not stop it forcing updates on me no matter what settings I used in options as well as about: . I went back to IE9. Yes 9, as Microsoft couldn't repair Windows 7 to get a later version installed. Anyhow, after my motherboard became erratic and the replacement meant Win 7 no longer worked at all, I decided it was time to 'upgrade' to Win 10. After a complete reinstall of my software from scratch I realised just how bad Edge is and thought I might see how Firefox was holding up. I thought the sync could be useful and was getting on with it until 68.0.1! Since updating to this version automatically (the settings in options still do not work), it appears it is updating/resetting itself after every reboot. It restores the defaults and behaves as if it has just updated each time. Also after doing this for five times it appears to have broken ADBlock which advises it cannot work any more. I have had to uninstall it to get the tab to stop. So, as my questions were never answered previously, I'll ask again: 1. How do I get Firefox to stop updating itself? Options 'check for updates but let you choose when to install them' clearly still doesn't work as it updates regardless. 2. How do I get to keep my preferences. Having to go through them all each time Firefox updates is a pain. Surely it cannot be too much to create an ini file? 3. How do I convince Firefox not to keep installing version 68.0.1 over itself? 4. As Adblock no longer works in this version (I'm sure they are pleased with this result), what good alternatives are there?

Hi,

I use FEBE and Profile Manager, because I have tailored FF to my small screen, and personal needs, with many add-ons.

I recently made a new profile for FF42, and used FEBE to overwrite it with my customary profile settings.

All went well until I came on here to ask a question about my Thunderbird: Halfway through asking the question FF froze, and I had to kill it in Process Explorer. When I opened it again, the first tab just said 'connecting', and the whole thing froze as soon as that came up. Clearing all my caches with CCleaner made no difference. There was no malware detected by Malwarebytes.

I opened a previous version of FF (Thank g-d for FEBE!), and tried to overwrite the stuck profile with my current settings again, but it just froze, and had to be terminated from Process Explorer.

I tried to delete the corrupt profile in Profile Manager, but that just froze as well. :/

Luckily, it didn't break Profile Manager altogether, and, after reloading it, I could make a new profile for 42, and give it my preferred FEBE profile, and am using it now. As I don't know what corrupted the first 42, I'm a bit wary that this one might break too.

The corrupt 42 is still in the list in Profile Manager, but freezes everything when I try to delete it. How can I clean it out?

Thanks for any ideas as to what went wrong, and any tips on clearing the corrupt profile without damaging my good ones. Have I been locked out of that profile by something changing my permissions? I would have thought that MWB would have detected any obvious mischief.

Cheers.

I had Firefox and Thunderbird installed the D drive. The D drive died. I try to reinstall on the C drive and it installs but when run says that the profile is not available (same for both programs). I have deleted all reference to mozilla in user>appdata and the same happens. Tried running "firefox -p", with the same resulting message. Back to Opera?

I've been using Firefox a long time. Never any problem until immediately after the last automatic update procedure today. Now the application will not load. Instead, I only get an error message "Profile Missing..." (see attached screen shot) I tried downloading the latest version from Mozilla and re-installing. It did not resolve the issue. I still got the same error message.

Computer info: Apple Mac Pro 2009 running OS 10.11.6 El Capitan.

After deleting my user profile, firefox won't start anymore. Every time I start firefox the Crash Report window opens. This happens also in safe mode. I tried creating a profile with the ProfileManager option, but the result is the same. I have been waiting for a couple of weeks to see if a system update would eventually fix this (I installed firefox from Arch's repos). I run Arch Linux 64-bit. I have also tried installling firefox-nightly and even downloading firefox from mozilla with no success

Hello, I'm having problem with Firefox on one laptop. All computers in company are connected to domain (Active Directory), and are using roaming profiles, to roam user profiles within computers in company. Laptops are using roaming profiles + offline files (so users can access their files, when not connected to company network). The problem occurs when user is connected to company network and is using Firefox, then hibernate computer (it doesn't matter if Firefox is on/off) and run computer on home WiFI network (or with no network) - Firefox is losing all settings including history & bookmarks. The strange thing is - that on other laptops Firefox is working properly (no matter on which network user is connected). I've tried new system install + connecting laptop to domain but problem is still exist.

I had several problems to begin with

1.I booted up my PC and tried to boot up Mozilla. The Browser asked me to refresh or go to safemode. I dont want to be in safemode so I refreshed firefox.Once it was done refreshing it opened, closed and asked again to refresh firefox. I kept doing this infinetly. 2.I decided to reinstall firefox, so I did. I also wanted my previous profile folder back so I can regain my bookmarks, passwords, tabs and extensions. It did not work. 3. So now everytime I try to open Mozilla Firefox it says "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible". I tried reinstalling again and it did not work.I wanted to try profile editor and such but I get the same error message everytime and I cannot open or fix Firefox in any way. Solutions?

edit: added a space after the periods . as it was making links and harder to read.

It may be missing or corrupted. I cannot find the profile manager in the files. I tried using "run". I have uninstalled it and did a clean boot and installed again: no good. I have windows 10 on an HP Notebook. I have tried most of the fixes I found for this problem but most of them are old fixes. I will appreciate any help you can give because I have found Waterfox is the best browser for me. My computer is a 64bit. Thank you, Marcy

Recently did a Firefox upgrade following which I kept getting above message (am running Windows 10)...had not MOVED any files/ folders & only changes had been made by Firefox upgrade itself!

Tried reinstalling Firefox web browser to rectify problem...no change, still kept getting same message & eventually had to do a System restore to retrieve my Firefox web browser ( fortunately had a restore point from just a couple of days previously as had only recently installed the Firefox browser.)

Firefox browser now running but not performing in QUITE the same way as previously (not pre empting web addresses & such in my private browsing window).

Is there a compatibilty problem with Windows 10 & Firefox web browser?...& what should I do if so?

Please make answer simple, am no IT expert I'm afraid!
