Hi, For as long as I remember, i preferred using Firefox as my standard browser, heck I always had only one browser, Firefox. But not until recently I've encountered a serious problem with Firefox that actually made me uninstall it and use Chrome! o.O
I had to reinstall my entire system, which went quite well until I downloaded and installed Firefox and used it for a couple of minutes. At first everything was fine, Firefox took me everywhere as I was used to. But when I customized Firefox to my own preferences, added the new-tab-override extension and changed the home page address Firefox all of a sudden started blocking access to all websites. I am permanently getting the following warning: "Your connection is not secure" with the error code: "Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER". Even to go on this site I was forced to use a different browser. :(
I am quite a computer veteran (or I at least think I am) but I tried and tried and tried to solve the issue but I had no success. I looked up people who were experiencing similar problems but I couldn't find a working solution. I tried reinstalling Firefox, which at first seemed to work again, but after a couple of minutes and some adjustments to my aforementioned preferences, it blocked all access again and made me quite frustrated that this can happen just like that. At least I would have hoped that Firefox would ask me if it should block sites in this manner, but I cant fix it at all. I'm now using Chrome, which I detest. I want my old Firefox back! Good ol' Firefox that doesn't scr€w me over when I install it, change the homepage and change the new-tab... Hope you can help me out here, or I'll be stuck with Chrome for the rest of my computing life... x(
Q: How do I fix this "Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER" from occurring?

After upgrade to FF 59, the saved logins are missing. I create a new profile, sync, and in the session the logins are back. But, if I close the FF and open it again the logins did not reload (I´ve typed the master password). If I do the process (create a new profile and sync) they appear (in the session), but they do not reload after a close/open the FF. It occurs on my 2 computers. I have already drop all the files and reinstalled FF 59. I downgrade to the FF 58.0.2 and it works perfectly after close/open the FF. Suggestions?

This is via the Install button in the list of add-ons after searching. IF expand the Details of the add-on the Install button at the bottom works fine, I have my add-ons now.

Of all the browsers I've used, Firefox is my favorite. But it is also by far been the one most prone to browser Hijackers, such as launchpage.org.
Why is it so easy for these to install into Firefox without the users permission (as any browser Hijacker naturally does not need) and Firefox simply lets it slide?
In 2017 alone, I've had this issue over 10 times, whereas using Chrome for years, I've not once had this issue (but, I hate chrome for other reasons).
Is there a way to prevent anything installing to Firefox (as in ANYTHING whatsoever, everything I need or will ever need is already installed).
Note: 3rd party packaged apps that install these hijackers, only target Firefox 90% of the time, I have Chrome, Opera, SafeZone and Edge installed on the same PC, and none of these get targeted by these packaged Hijacker/adware software (usually). There is clearly a flaw in Firefox's security as far as I can tell, because it'll target Firefox regardless of where I downloaded/copied any such installers from. (not that installations particularly take not of that, lol)
I just want to know how to prevent anything and everything from being installed into firefox without my permission. I don't care if I can never download another extension ever again.

Hello!
My partner is unable to access the following secure site via Firefox 55.0.3: https://mdlandrec.net/main/
He receives the error message: "Secure Connection Failed. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." (Full error message screen shot attached.)
Meanwhile, I am able to access the site with no problem, using the same version.
The error message suggests I contact the site owners, which is not possible. The site is a state government site and the owners are not responsive. I cannot wait for this problem to resolve itself. Is there any way to bypass this security so that my partner's Firefox can access the site?
Thank you! BenGW

I run https://www usufans.com and recently I've been getting complaints from some of my Firefox users that they are getting Secure Connection Failed errors. The errors are random and don't seem to be affecting everyone. I am able to replicate it on my machine but it's not everytime I load a page. Sometimes a page will load and sometimes it won't. I've tried in Firefox 57 and 58 both and neither of those versions have the issue at all. As soon as Firefox updates to the latest version the problem immediately comes back. The SSL certificate is from my host and every SSL test I try shows that it's installed properly. The problem doesn't exist in Chrome, IE, or Edge and it doesn't show up in earlier versions of Firefox. It looks like there have been similar issues in the past but none of the solutions have worked. Any ideas?

Hi guys, Well, I think I bring here a very interesting thing for the Mozilla team. I found I have some sort of exploit which takes screen captures whenever I click on any web page. It is specially active whenever you are entering sensitive information like when I log-in onto site accounts, o whenever I check something on the bank. I checked processes using process explorer, and everything points at Mozilla being very active and nothing else. I check the creation of those screen captures and they are always, there. I normally kill every process which is not necessary, and the ones left are just essential. I ran several bootable antivirues like Eset, Kaspersky and Bitdefender and they don't detect anything weird. I removed from a bootable CD all temp files this "thing" creates while making files and take snap of my screen. I goes back on when you are back on Windows. I know that something was going on when on the bank site I had a AVG-antivirus alert saying that an exploit was active and gave me the option to remove it. Other than that, you don't feel a thing. As said, it goes back the alert everytime you visit the bank and some other log-ins, specially while banking. I also disable all Firefox add-ons, as well as the Java on my computer -I believe there's some connection with Java here-. I have the suspicion that it is pdf/exploit coz I saw a glimpse of that name while uninstalling something which I thing was Facemoods. Not too sure how it got there. So there, guys!! I don't know where this "thing" resides, really does -it could be doing more things-, or how to get rid of it. PS: I saw a while ago that I have to mozilla folder hanging from "program files". One is mozilla.bak. I'm digging into this now. Any shed on this, you pros!! I'm not a pro myself, yet I love IT :-) Thanks a bunch in advance to anyone taking the time to solve the one big problem Firefox has and is going to have in the short run. BR F

With Firefox 45.0 just installed it did NOT appear. How do I know if it is truly eradicated from my home computers? RESET Firefox doesn't delete the old profile just replaces it. With Sync it use it didn't matter that one PC has a clean install of Windows 10, apparently. This annoying Firewall-lite to install appeared at EACH Firefox update on ALL my computers - (2) PC and (1) Mac. The Mac does not even have Sync enabled. I did have the PC's Synched including Add-Ons.
I first noticed this annoying possibly malicious promotion of its Firewall-lite addon when I was installing Flashblock. Somehow Firewall-lite was what was linked instead of Flashblock, in the top search result Install button. If open Flashblock page the Install button at the bottom is correct.
I used the Firefox RESET option on 3 computers, resetting all my passwords as the price to pay. NOW at each website first new login I have to right click for Fill Login (name/email) and right click - Fill Password. Thanks mybrowseraddon com

Hi there,
Options -> Privacy&Security -> SiteData -> Settings tells me that some sites have several MB of storage on disk. For example, www.facebook.com shows up with a whopping 3.7 MB.
So, I want to check the contents of that storage.
I navigate to www.facebook.com and check WebDeveloper -> StorageInspector. Here I find a meager 1 line session cookie of at most 2 KB, nothing else. No cache, no localStorage, no IndexedDB, no nothing. (I do not use Facebook).
What explains this tremendous difference in "SiteData" and data reported by StorageInspector ?
How can I have a look at the "SiteData" of Facebook ?
Yes, I tried several times, tried a reload of the Options > ... > Settings, restarted Firefox after deleting all the data I see in StorageInspector etc. I still get a difference of some several MB in data which is shown under SiteData and not shown under StorageInspector !
I am a bit paranoid here, since it looks to me that the browser knows something but refuses to show me...

While browsing on Firefox and error message appeared that said my computer was in jeprody and to call this number immediately (866 368 2344). My wife freaked out and did it. Big mistake. It wasn't Microsoft. They showed me that all my passwords were known by them and ,presumably the bad guys, and wanted $500 for security help. I refused and they got short with me and hung up. I froze my credit cards and bank accounts and changed all my passwords, did a couple different malware and virus scans (Malwarebytes found 126 problems which I quarantined). After that no other problems were found. I downloaded a free copy of BitDefender thinking I'd do some research in the morning and buy whatever the best antiviral program was out there. It was 11:30 pm by this time. I also erased and reinstalled Firefox. This morning the same screen popped up while browsing in Firefox. Same phone number. I'm absolutely freaked out and don't have a clue as to what to do next. It took me half hour to get a bug reporting account open cause I couldn't type the same password. twice. Turned off the computer and will take it to the local guru on Monday morning but thought I'd inquire with the MOZILLA Community to see if this had happened to anyone else. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with Firefox. Dunno. It's an almost new HP 17 bs043d running Windows 10. Any help would be appreciated beyond measure. Thanks, Tim Cooper

Hi,
Summary :
Firefox doesn't save password. On form login webpage, the dialogbox asking if I want to save my login/password appears, but it is not saved (when I logout, no remember data is displayed on loggin form as usually. Nothing appears in Preference/Privacy & Security list of saved login/password : empty).
Environnement :
Mozilla Firefox 59.0.2 Ubuntu 17.10 64 bits
What I do to try to solve this problem:
1. I read the mozilla knowledge database https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/usernames-and-passwords-are-not-saved
All is ok ( "Remember logins and passwords for websites." checked, always remember history... )
2. I check file permissions (chmod, chown) of .mozilla folder, read & write privileges for user (the profile folder cames from a windows installation : user switching to linux... )
3. A message error on console log
(/usr/lib/firefox/firefox:2827): dconf-WARNING **: Unable to open /var/lib/snapd/desktop/dconf/profile/user: Permission non accordée
This message appears when I load a webpage with the empty form loggin, (not when the dialog box asking to save appears...) . Pearhaps, do not relate this problem.
But this bring me to a similar support for firefox with this error https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=156416
So, I disable extension : same probleme. I empty extension folder : same problem
4. Rename file in profile folder : A solution suggested to solve no registering password I can read is to rename key3.db key4.db and login.json. Same problem.
When I ask to register login/password when the dialogbox appears, only login.json seams written.
List of profile folder modified file during theses tests : saved-telemetry-pings crashes prefs.js sessionCheckpoints.json webappsstore.sqlite favicons.sqlite SecurityPreloadState.txt AlternateServices.txt xulstore.json addons.json addonStartup.json.lz4 extensions.json extensions search.json.mozlz4 compatibility.ini permissions.sqlite logins.json
A solution finded
I run firefox --safe-mode option : all works fine : can register new passwords, and old user password (from his windows firefox installation) appears in preference/privacy dialog.
Can you help me ?
Thanks !
