When I close a tab that had a video playing, the picture-in-picture box will stay there after I close the tab. The picture is just a white box. The controls are there, but when I click on any button, nothing happens. I can only move the box around and resize it. It usually happens when I close the tab while the video is playing, but sometimes it happens when I close the tab and the video is paused. It happens on videos that were in a picture-in-picture box and videos that weren't. I go into setting and disable picture-in-picture which will stop new picture-in-picture boxes, but won't get rid of the white box. The only way to get rid of the white box is to close FireFox completely and then reopen it.

The picture-in-picture setting use to keep the detached video visible if I scrolled the original or source page past the video player. Now the detached video disappears and reverts back to the source page when I scroll this control out of view. Is this change intentional and permanent?

Tried the PiP mode with YouTube and it didn't work for me. The video pop-up still appears even after un-checking the box in settings; once I click the X button on the pop-up, the video pauses, and will unpause only if I return to the original tab and press play. I've tried the following:

- Restarting my computer - Used keyboard shortcuts to close the pop-up - Blocked autoplay media on the YouTube website

Thanks in advance.

When using version 143 on linux and PIP is open and I go to another workspace the PIP does not show on any other workspace other than the workspace it is already on. This does nt occur with Chromium browsers as there PIP follows on any workspace.

What should happen is the PIP in firefo should always appear on the displayed screen I am working on.

It would be extremely useful to have a single hotkey to open all currently playing videos or audio in Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode in Firefox.

Currently, opening each video manually is time-consuming if multiple media are playing across tabs. A dedicated hotkey would:

Save time for users managing multiple media.

Improve multitasking and media consumption workflow.

Enhance accessibility for keyboard shortcut users.

Suggested Hotkey: Ctrl + Alt + P (P = PiP, easy to remember, low conflict with other shortcuts)

Optional: Support toggling all PiP windows on/off with the same shortcut could further streamline the experience.

We are unable to stop playback from the controls in the PIP window for Apple TV when the video playback was started in the main browser window. If we press the control the playbacks stops for a fraction of a second and continues again. Other controls like mute etc. are working as exspected.

If we start the playback in the PIP window we are able to stop it!

If we use Youtube or Amazon as a video source the problem does not show.

If we use Troubleshoot Mode we get exactly the same behaviour.

Any Ideas?

Since a recent version of Firefox was installed the picture in picture control does not work. I have unchecked the option but It still shows in YouTube etc.

I know this can be disabled in about:config but I prefer not going there. I wonder if this will be corrected sometime, otherwise the setting option is pointless.

Another item: I have unchecked the search suggestions in settings but it makes no difference.

Input welcome.

I recently got into Bazzite and I'm currently working on understanding and migrating to this OS, one of the things that got my attention is the PiP mode, which by default doesn't stay on top of other windows, and that made me think about the whole purpose of this functionality to begin with, anyway this led me to think about my best idea ever which is to add "some option" in which the user can choose what is his preferred PiP window behavior and set it as default, so he don't go through all the process again and again.

I am having issues disabling picture-in-picture mode, even though I have disabled it in my settings.

The settings regarding picture-in-picture mode (in general) and the Firefox Labs' "Picture-in-Picture: auto-open on tab switch" do not seem to work. I am disabled and re-enabled these settings multiple times, though picture-in-picture mode still auto-opens on tab switch. I have restarted my computer and Firefox multiple times.

Please advise on potential solutions. Thank you!

Hi all,

Just updated to version 142.0.1. I now have the annoying behaviour back that video's on a website pop out on the screen while scrolling on a webpage and they are in the way of the text. I don't want any videos popping out. In the past I had it resolved somehow, so it looks like the update "undid" these. If I'm correct I might have changed a setting in the about:config.

I found multiple articles stating to uncheck "Enable PIP controls" in the setings, section [General] - [Browsing]. This options was moved to the [Firefox Labs] section within the setting. This option however is already disabled.

This page does not resolve the issue: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-picture-picture-firefox#w_why-dont-i-see-the-picture-in-picture-toggle

How can I prevent a video popping out on the screen an float above the web page? I just want to keep it in the window\frame where it belongs.

Link of a page where I have the issue: https://www.telegraaf.nl/video/oprichter-sbs-hiermee-onderscheidt-sbs-zich/86683036.html Also attached a screenshot.

Thanks in advance.

Many web pages that have a video header will launch the video in a popup window after you scroll past the header.

There are no user controls in the popup window, and clicking 'block popups' and turning off 'enable p-n-p controls' had no effect on them.

Is there a a setting that will stop these video popups from automatically launching? They eat up a lot of memory, and are a pain to turn off manually.

Thanks.

So I just updated to Firefox version 142.0, and noticed there is a picture in picture option in the URL bar now. Don't get me wrong. I get the idea, but it's not for me. Is there an option to turn this off within the Firefox settings? I'm currently still on Windows 10— which I'm grateful Firefox is still supporting at the moment— version 1909 and the picture in picture controls setting is currently unchecked but still shows up in the URL bar for some reason. Can anyone help with this?
