Hi,

This is my first post here so let me know if I did anything wrong.

So my problem is: my camera has been undetected by Firefox for a while now, without any change in the use of my browser. I've wanted to use it on Google Duo, on an online classes website, on a website where you can use your camera to try on glasses before ordering, and nothing... The latter was my last attempt and the only message I got from the website was "your camera is not detected". I really have no idea where to check for anything wrong on this topic, it works perfectly on other software (like Discord), so I guess it does not come from the camera itself. I checked the authorizations in Firefox, nothing special there either.

Any idea and/or tips for this kind of troubleshooting?

Thanks a lot in advance!

I have recently switched from Chrome to Firefox. All features that I used in Chrome seem to exist in Firefox as well, until I found out that there are no local overrides in Firefox?

Some Information about this feature(it firstly appeared in Chrome's dev build in 2017): Local Overrides

Personally I found this feature very useful and convenient when debugging directly in your browser and immediately takes effect after a page refresh.

I wonder if anyone else submitted a feedback or even had a discussion about this feature? I tried to send a suggestion about this feature but they temporarily disabled the submission form.

I need to know when a visitor to my site is clicking the back or forward button. The reason is I have a "tabstrip" that hilites the currently selected tab and the target document is displayed in an iframe. If I click the back or forward buttons the page is updated with the last or next document in the iframe, but the tabstrip is not updated to reflect the change. Part of this is due to me not knowing how to update the tabstrip, but also because I don't know how to detect the back or forward buttons being clicked.

So I need to know how to detect those button clicks. Also, in researching this, I noticed that there seems to be an idea that you can't distinguish between the forward and back button, only that a button was clicked. That doesn't make sense given that each button has a specific action that is opposite of the other. I need to know the truth about this.

Finally, as much as I use only Firefox myself, I know there will be others who use other browsers. Is there any difference between detecting the back and forward buttons on other browsers compared to Firefox?

One of the pages I need this for is here

Edit 15 March 2022:

I had to fix the link because I had renamed the page when I finished the work on its layout. Also, since I asked this question I have realized another similar and sort-of related issue on a different page: https://wayneca.neocities.org/WebDesi.../TagList.html. The relation is that the back and forward buttons don't correctly reload the page. The difference is that this one is concerning named links.

When you click a link in the table on the left it correctly moves the document in the right table to the point where the matching id anchor is. But when you click the back or forward button the tables do not shift back to where they were on the page as reloaded. The back and forward buttons work fine if the link anchors and id anchors are not in tables.

I have been told about the history functions, but I have found no examples of using it to correct the issue in either of the above cases. Is someone here able to point me to examples of using the history to make a selected link reset back to where it was or reload a page with the last jump point being reset correctly?

Also, why does the named link thing work without tables but not with tables?

I know I am not the first person to complain about this. The spacing/padding between menu items, in particular the Bookmark menu is just ridiculously large. It got even bigger in 92.0!

I rely on Bookmarks heavily and use hundreds. I guess this was done for touch screens? The main interface is still currently the mouse for computers.

I see the only current fix is a using a stylesheet and it seems a bit involved. I have to give it a try. I am pleading with the designers, please give us the option to use compact padding once again. I am not sure why this is being forced on us. I really like Firefox, please don't make me look for another option. Thanks!

It happens often: I am typing into a text input form on a website, and the pop-up (see attachment) appears for no apparent reason. In other words, I did not deliberately try to abandon my text entries, but for some reason the browser believes I have. Perhaps this is down to the overuse of shortcuts and touchpad "gestures" in my Macbook? I don't know why it happens, but it does. My question only concerns what happens AFTER the pop-up appears.

The pop-up has two buttons: "Stay on page", and the DEFAULT "Leave Page".

I have lost hours of work (text entry) because the DEFAULT is to "Leave Page". Again, this may be "physically" due to the twitchy Apple products I use, but it could be avoided if the DEFAULT were set to "Stay on page".

That is my first question: How do I change the DEFAULT to "Stay on page"?

I am told that this pop-up is the product of JavaScript running in my browser. That's all well and good, but it's not clear to me whose script this is.

My second question: What is the SOURCE of the JavaScript producing the pop-up; i.e. is this sourced by Mozilla, or is it sourced by the website creators?

Hello, we have a CVS repository which can be browsed using viewvc. In this repository there are some .docx files which are MS Word documents. Until about one week ago, clicking on such a link brought up a dialog asking what Firefox should do with this file. One of the options is to open it with Word (see image 'ChooseWord').

But now this is no longer possible. I believe it vanished in the course of the automatic Firefox updates. Now the dialog looks like in the attached image 'NoWord'.

How can I restore the old behaviour?

Thanks, gernot

Hallo

keyword.enabled habe ich auf false gestellt.

Vielen Dank und Gruß Robert robert.jordan@gmx.at

I can open windows live (it is slow) and all my emails show but if I try to open an inbox email or even a junk email, Firefox tries for a minute or more the gives up and doesn't open the email. I have tried to re-fresh Firefox but that doesn't change anything.

If I use Google Chrome everything works fine.

I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad running Windows 10 Home, Version 20H2
