How to change home page and new tab to desired URL or any extension of Firefox desktop in 2025?

I am unable to find any way to change how my new tab should look when I click + sign or new tab is opened up on browser opening or re-opening unlike Chrome.

I hate the change of position of typing from the search bar on the current new tab to the URL bar (unseen or unheard in Chrome) that Firefox implemented without considering users who would detest it.

Using Firefox 131.0.3 (64-bit)

I have used Firefox for longer than I care to remember and have never had any problem with it but this morning I switched on my PC and a new AI side bar has appeard on the left and I don't want it. Can you please make it so we can remove it and looking around the internet, I know I'm not the only one with this opinion.

I often receive a 403 error when using Firefox Every time, before this happens, I get the unsafe website warning and then the 403 error when I continue anyway

I am using the latest version at the time of writing These errors only occur on my desktop PC I have tried to replicate this issue on both my phone (Android) and another laptop(Windows 11) but all the websites work normally on there.

I have tried the following, none of which have any effect:

• Clearing cookies
• using Troubleshoot mode
• Restarting
• Changing Useragent
• Using "Forget about this site"

The following do fix the issue

• Using a VPN
• Using Google Chrome
• Running Firefox in another profile

Going through the privacy and security tab and reseting all the settings sometimes works but only temporarily

I use Firefox Developer, on many sites, for no apparent reason, the error "Error establishing a secure connection" started popping up (error code: PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR. Even on YouTube, where everything was ok before, it's all crap now. HELP PLEASE

I want to delete all my bookmarks at once -- I have nearly 1,500. I already asked this question and the response I got showed me how to do this by selecting each one at a time. I want to delete them all, AT ONCE!

Not selecting each one and holding down the CTRL key.

Btw, I already explained this ... so, is there a way. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and not keeping the former settings. But the stupid bookmarks keep coming back!

My Firefox desktop app recently updated. After it updated, I now cannot access anything by right clicking. When I right click, a giant window of options shows up (see image). It doesn't change no matter what I click on. When I try to select something in the giant window of options, nothing happens. I'm having a very hard time with it, particularly because I can't open links into new tabs now.

i'm on windows. Suddenly, PDF files that I open have black pages. I checked that the default setting is to open pdf files in Firefox, as always. refreshing doesnt work. Any ideas what is wrong?

Hi, first time writing here so I don't know what to do or expect. I recently received a warning by Firefox that as of March 14, 2025 Firefox will end support for Windows 8 (8.1 and below too) and that the last version compatible with Windows 8 is Firefox 115ESR (up to which? Before in Settings Firefox wanted to update from 115.0.3 to 115.0.3ESR now it says 115.1ESR - is this still ok for Windows 8? Are all 115 versions ok or not? Please help because I'm not a computer person, at all, with far too many gaps). Also, what happens after March 14, 2025? Will I be able to keep using Firefox 115ESR version even if I won't be getting any more updates or not? Also, I have extensions (4 ad blockers+Ghostery+VideoDownload helper) which keep updating and the warning said that extensions may not work properly anymore - so I wonder if you know if these above mentioned will in fact be affected or not, because I don't know whether to update them after March 14, 2025 or not because I'm not sure how to go back to a previous version should they not work. Too, I would like to say that you suggest switching to a newer Windows ver. (10 or above) but not everyone really wants to for one reason or another. Personally I find myself fine with Win 8 so far and don't like Win 10 while Win 11 may be too much for my old computer and I cannot afford to buy another. Also I would not attempt to upgrade to Win 10 without help (considering that others more expert had difficulties making it work or reverting back to Win 8) help that I do not have, at all - that's why I'm here now, and I don't really understand how this works either, so... Anyhow, reading on that warning page that after March 14, 2025 you would reconsider your position regarding support for Win 8.1, 8 and below (and knowing also that Chrome and Edge have ended their support - effectively leaving users stranded or forcing them to upgrade to a Windows version unwillingly) I would like to plead with you NOT to follow their example and help us, your supporters, keep using Firefox (which you say is for the people) - like I said many of us have good reasons for keeping on using Win 8.1 or below, so won't you please, PLEASE help us keep Firefox as our browser so that we too may keep using Internet? I know technology goes forward and staying behind makes all more difficult but not all can afford the same things and since I have found that there are a few of us yet I am asking to PLEASE not abandon us as others have done (leaving us to manage the best we can) but consider our plight (I know it might be a challenge for the engineers and developers but surely you can find a solution at least to allow us to keep using Firefox). This is pretty shady Mozilla.

When disabling only one setting: "Allow Firefox to install and run studies" it wrecks this site whether logging is or continuing as guest:

Even after logging in and everything running normal, disabling the studies run by Mozilla and a quick refresh breaks the functionality of the page. All cookies were accepted and the sharing of location was allowed. On a fresh, first run, wide open Firefox people. Literally, the only change that was made was unchecking that one box. In disbelief, i tested it over and over.

Why would disabling a telemetry setting, something that should be optional, cause this to happen? Seriously, what could possibly be the reason. I'd love to hear it.

This was the final nail in the coffin to me and this is since the 0.9x days.

Firefox has been used to open PDFs. Suddenly, all the PDFs appear as totally black. If I hover over the tab for that PDF, it shows the little representation as normal white background. This just happened. Don't know how to correct for this.

On my OS I have ClearType disabled, and selected Arial 9px font globally.

So, in Firefox, Show your Bookmarks ( Ctrl+Shift+O ) > Manage Bookmarks > Library

The left column navigation section, and all table items in the right, show anti-aliasing text, ie: sub-pixel rendering where clearly there shouldn't be.

This seems to happen regardless of font selection (see userChrome.css, @-moz-document url(chrome://browser/content/places/places.xhtml).

I know I should just get over it, and what's ClearType anyway, but just wondering if there'll be any relief for us migraine sufferers, or people with attention deficit, or visual disturbances, or like to organize stuff because their grades really suck, or ... well you get the idea.

I have a hunch this may be more of a java thing than a css fix, any thoughts?

In Firefox, and Firefox only, in every version for the last several months, I have found it impossible to get Firefox to allow websites to "remember this device", even when I check that option. Every day I log in to a website, for example Tmobile, and I have to get a code emailed to me. I check "remember this device so you won't need a code next time", but the next time I log in, the same thing happens. Over and over with many sites. This does not happen with any other browser, except Firefox. How do I get Firefox to allow me to save my info? I really don't want to use Chrome, Safari, Brave, or Edge, but I do not have this problem with any of them. Only Firefox. And yes, I've checked my settings, and everything I can see says Firefox should be saving this info.

Windows 11 23H2 - Firefox 131.0.3

I use firefox on laptop with a usb keyboard, On the laptop CTRL+Shift+P using Left CTRL+Shift+P and Right CTRL+Shift+P works as intended and opens a private window.

However on the usb keyboard using the Left CTRL+Shift+P doesn't work to open a private window while the Right CTRL+Shift+P works normally.

After a bit of trial and error i worked out the issue with the usb keyboard is the left CTRL key. It works for other shortcuts such as CTRL P but just not for the new private window command.

I tried loading firefox in troubleshoot mode to see if this was an addon issue, still no good. Tried 2 different keyboards from the one i use daily just to see what would happen and still the same issue.

Any suggestions? im at a loss.
