Sorry guys, i am disgusted with this upgrade. 29 does not seem like a good ui update at all. The menu bar looks really bad and so does the tab. Furthermore this does not solve my other tab issue i have either in another question i have asked.
How can i revert back to my last version with all my tabs/windows/history restored? I will do a system restore if i have to and then cancel all automatic updates. I honestly dont care if it gives me a bigger security risk.

As of midnight 12/12/14, Firefox started blocking plugins (in this case, Adobe Flash and Java Deployment Toolkit, possibly others as I've just been to websites that use those), saying that they're out of date. When I click on "Update Now," the Plugin Status page tells me that all my plugins are up to date. (I'm currently running Flash 15.0.0.239 and Java Deployment Toolkit 10.71.2.14, for the record.)
I get the point of this feature, and I really don't want to permanently turn on "always allow," but having to click two "allow" prompts every time I load a website that features Flash is quickly making web browsing intolerable. I'm on the verge of switching to Google Chrome over this.

My Firefox updated today and all of a sudden the color of all background tabs is black. I really dislike this, and I am finding it extremely difficult on my eyes. I did a search of help on how to fix this, and it suggested addons. I have no problem downloading addonns, but none of them are compatible with the most recent version of Firefox. Is there a way to change the black background of tabs so they're not so annoying? Thanks.

I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. I reinstalled firefox, added the speeddial that I liked so much, and then tried to use firefox. I can't type the web address into the address bar when I start firefox. I always have to open a new tab before it'll let me do it. Also, I can't highlight and copy what's typed there - AND I can't "paste and go" anymore. Is that open gone?

I am currently on version 55.0.3 and have had the offer of an update to 56. I accepted the update, installed and restarted FF only to find that all the bookmark foders are grey [not yellow] and a piece of 'unwanted' software [something to do with screenshots] had an icon in the top right-hand corner. I note that doing a search for this problem on this forum, that in a post by WorriedFred on 9.28.17 @ 7.20pm, a post has been marked 'chosen solution'??? There is no solution - if there is where is it??? OR perhaps this is a new default colour style Mozilla have decided to use with this update - how inconsiderate not to mention this if it is so. And to add on a bit of software without permission is a disgrace.
If there has been an official response/explanation for this problem/bug could somebody please point me to it - I have run out of perming 56-bookmarks-grey-all-update in the search Mozilla bar. For the moment I have done a system restore back to 55 - nice yellow forders.

Firefox automatically upgraded itself to version 41 and now the Trusteer Rapport Endpoint Protection icon is no longer shown to the right of the address bar. It is still there and working in Internet Explorer. The same situation is happening on 2 PCs, both Windows 7 64 bit.
Surely Trusteer Rapport is a widely used feature - one would have thought a new release of Firefox would have been tested to work with it.

I know that firefox once put the tabs on top, but I had that fixed with setting in "about:config" the value for "browser.tabs.onTop" to "false". Now, after upgrading Firefox to v.29 this entry is still set to the false value, however, I can't get the tabs below the adressbar (which is super annoying). Any ideas how to resolve this?
How do I roll back the Firefox 29 update? I hate it.
I got the Firefox 29 update. I dislike it, and it removed functionality (e.g., the add-on bar). How do I roll it back? Do I have to completely uninstall Firefox?

Instead of emoticons, Firefox is showing me blank spaces all over Facebook (chat, status updates, comments etc.). I've tried to clean all data, I've restarted it, and it doesn't help. Only thing that's helping is when I downgrade to version 29, so it must be a bug. Currently, I'm using version 33.1.1, the latest one, on 64bit Windows 8.1.
Emoticons work properly on other browsers (IE, Chrome, Opera).

I was using an older version of FF because the newer versions had messed up private browsing and I had the option of deciding if I wanted tabbed browsing. I switched to a newer version because a lot of sites didn't work with the older version.
I went into tools - tabs and checked what I used to use not to get tabbed browsing. Doesn't work.
Please tell me how to get rid of tabbed browsing and how to switch back and forth to private and regular browsing without opening a new tab/window.
If I can't get rid of tabbed browsing I guess I'll muddle along with an older version.

Hello, I've gone through various steps to prevent Firefox 56.0.01 from updating to the newer, more disgusting 57+ version.
The reason I want to prevent this is mainly because the (legacy) add-on tools I require do not work on the newer version. The old Firefox is superior for my purposes, even for things like watching streamed content, the new FF offers a nasty green bar through the top and bottom of some, but not all, videos. However, I don't require a 'fix' for this, it doesn't bother me that much (since everything works fantastic on FF 56).
Here's the steps I've gone through to prevent the nasty FF 57 from updating: - I installed Firefox 56 to another drive and modified the name to 'Firefox (old)' - I made a separate profile called 'old' with the necessary options such as 'never check for updates' and unchecked the use of a background service. Automatically update search engines is disabled too. - I also created a shortcut, pointing it to the 'old' profile, so that profile is loaded immediately after opening this shortcut. - I deleted 'Mozilla Maintenance Service' folder in the programs installation directory.
I also have these options set this way in about:config - app.update.auto - false - app.update.enabled - false - app.update.silent - false - network.prefetch-next - false - network.dns.disablePrefetch - true
Now, it's important to note that Firefox 56 is still working on my computer, it's still functional, not only this but it worked FLAWLESSLY for about a week but now; my problem is that every time I open it, Windows presents me with a UAC prompt where if I click yes, Firefox will FORCE update 57+ on to my computer. For this reason I must click 'No' on the UAC prompt and Firefox opens and then says "Firefox couldn't update :( Download new version here" on a notification pop-up in the top corner. Can someone explain to me why the developers are of such poor intelligence or; are effectively lying to the customer about being able to 'never check for updates'? And please can someone review the steps I've taken and tell me if I've missed something? Maybe someone better informed than I can tell me how to stop this dirty update system once and for all.

(Removed beta link to 28. -m)
All the current changes for firefox seem oriented towards the tab computer market but unfortunately these tab computers are way to slow and underperform compared dramaticly compared to my desktop computer. Having tabs below is what makes my system functionality and workflow perform at its best. I often have up to 100 tabs open at a time when doing research but with every change by firefox this ability is more and more taken away. from right click send emails and now tabs cant be placed below its time for firefox to decide if its time for two different versions of there product to be made. One for the desktop and a seperate version for tablet computers. Having tabs above the address bar is just plain stupid when you have 100 tabs open ie it just doesnt work. My pc has 64 gigs of ram and a 6 cor processor and with every itereation of firefox for the past 4 years my ability to use the ability of my PC has been more and more removed. I seem to have no choice but to revert to an earlier version of firfox in order to at least keep some of the former functionality. I dont use touch functionality and yet the latest version seems complllletelly oriented towards touch computers and thats great but its been done at the expence of people like me who will never use this type of feature. Time to creat two seperate versions of Firfox one for people like me who have realy powerfull computers and many many many tabs open at a time and one for the tablet pc touch people who only have 1 or 2 tabs open at a time.
