It only happens when changing tab, not if i scroll down on the videopage or anything. its really annoying. i've tried google chrome and safari aswell, all works fine.

This isn't so much a question as a link to direct others to the correct solution/work-around.

My wife's Mac Mini with OS X 10.6.8 was "auto updated" to Flash Player 13.0. Immediately she began to have issues with the plug-in crashing in Firefox. I worked for about 2 hours deleting and reinstalling FP 13.0. I checked and verified the disc and all the usual "housekeeping tricks to no avail.

Long story short: FP 13.0 doesn't work with Firefox (or apparently I.E.). The work-around is to uninstall FP 13.0 and reinstall FP 12.0. Here is a link to another recent thread to make this happen:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/994287

The response is from a forum moderator. And it works.

FYI: if it is your usual practice to let Adobe automatically update itself, you might be better served by selecting the second radio button and have Adobe simply notify you there is an update ready to install. You only get this option when you install Adobe updates. I never let any software "auto update" itself ...and this is a perfect reason why.

I moved to a new area and comcast installed the service here. The installation and set up of the modem asked me to install a toolbar and I opted out because I see no use in comcast services. Comcast installed some thing like malware that took over safari chrome and firefox where all of the home pages were converted to their site. Safari required being reset and chrome I removed and reinstalled. Firefox has been completely taken over, I have uninstalled it 3 times and tried safe mode and just about everything else. I spent 2 hours on the phone with comcast to no avail and my feeling on it is that firefox is the most popular browser and comcast wants part of that so they have developed their own little malware to get in on firefox. What can I do as customer or user of firefox to get rid of comcast and their browser and home page and get back to what I am comfortable with which is firefox and my npr home page.

Ever since updating Firefox/Mac to v.22, the built-in Firefox PDF viewer won't open PDFs. Any PDF link automatically downloads the file.

I've set the Applications control for PDFs to "Preview in Firefox". I've also reset the mimeTypes.rdf file, but none of this has helped. The files download to my HD. Firefox won't open PDFs on its own. I've had to resort to installing the Shubert plugin to get PDFs to display. It works, but I'd rather get Firefox's native reader to work.

Is there, perhaps, a setting under about:config that might need changed? I don't have to enable Java, do I?

Firefox 22/Mac OSX 10.6.8

Thanks.

This is a freeze, not a crash, so I can't submit info to Mozilla. I've been through this in repeated updates, and it's only getting worse. FF used to be stable, now it's unreliable. I have OS X 10.6.8, fully updated. I have only 2 add-ons: Jave Applet Plug-in 13.8.3 and Shockwave Flash 11.4.402.265. It's entirely random, and usually with an ordinary site, with no video or pop-ups or anything moving. Force-quitting doesn't work; FF shows it's closed in the dock but the window is still open on the screen, and the beachball is spinning. It progressively freezes each app I click on, and finally I have to use the power button to shut down and restart. Again, this is getting worse, not better. I moved to FF because IE and Safari were so bad, but now FF is no better. Thankfully Word seems to save whatever I'm working on if I have to shut down, but email doesn't. With this kind of freeze, I'm not given the option to submit info to Mozilla - everything is frozen, the submit window doesn't even appear.

I am running Firefox 16.0.2 on a Macbook Pro

In the last few days (approx since 23/10/12) I've been experiencing a lagging of HD Youtube videos streaming on my computer. The site loads fine as does the video's audio, they're both unaffected, but the 1080 option for the video is selected, the video plays extremely jerky and out of sync with the audio.

At first I thought it was my computer struggling to load the video, so I let the entire video load before continuing the stream, but this didn't solve the problem.

I've just updated all software, updated my Firefox, all the plugins are up to date. I've just disabled all the extensions I'm currently running, one by one to see if they were causing a problem, that didn't solve the problem.

I've tried loading the 1080 HD videos on another browser and they play fine, so I know the problem is with Firefox.

I've also tried following some of the troubleshooting tips on the Firefox website (help section), clearing recent history and clearing the cookies and cache didn't work, neither did disabling "hardware acceleration" in the advanced preferences (I've seen this recommended to a few users experiencing the same problems as me).

I'm all out of ideas. Please help!  :(

I've tried resetting and various other workarounds I've seen on the forums, and still, FF will soon jump to using up 4 Gigs of RAM, and when I want to open a new window, or tab, it will freeze, and I must wait till the spinning ball does it thing, watching the CPU usage shoot up to 300 or 400%, or in some cases, as high as 2,000%!! All the while showing "Firefox is not responding". Then, it will finally go back down (CPU usage, not RAM), and function for awhile, or it may crash. Once it gets up that high, I will reboot the program, but it doesn't take it very long to climb right back up there. What else could be the issue?
