MacbookPro OS 10.11.6

  1. About a week ago Firefox was running no problem.
  2. Closed Firefox (quit)
  3. Re-opened and got the Profile missing error.
  4. troubleshoot through existing threads on mozilla support. including renaming the profile.ini file, deleting it, moving it, etc.
  5. Used Appcleaner to wipe all known goodies of Firefox from my computer
  6. downloaded a fresh 76.0.dmg from the website
  7. Problem persists. Application does not load, "Profile missing" opens immediately
  8. No application support data in /Library/ application support/firefox exists

Chrome works and Safari works no problem.

I'm using Mac since… 1984 and I use it for a lot of tasks, really a lot. So I've between 12 and 18 applications open at the same time, one of them is Firefox. On shutdown (which takes several minutes) I leave… to discover later on that Firefox disables the shutdown because "some windows are still open"! WHAT THE HECK?!?! I don't care if windows are open, if I ASK to shutdown, I want it to shut down, not to care about windows being open or not. The worse is that a) Firefox is the last (or one of the last) applications Mac OS X shuts down. b) I can't teach / instruct or choose Firefox to stop even if windows are open. Or am I mistaken?

I've been using Firefox a long time. Never any problem until immediately after the last automatic update procedure today. Now the application will not load. Instead, I only get an error message "Profile Missing..." (see attached screen shot) I tried downloading the latest version from Mozilla and re-installing. It did not resolve the issue. I still got the same error message.

Computer info: Apple Mac Pro 2009 running OS 10.11.6 El Capitan.

Hi, I have a Mac 10.11.6 and for whatever reason I cannot get Firefox to open. I received a message at the bottom of my browser during the last use saying something to the effect of click restore/restart to improve speed. I did this and now Firefox will not open. I get a Mozilla crash reporter screen even when I try launching it in safe mode. I tried the refresh option (by holding shift + option on startup) and still get the crash report screen. I reinstalled it multiple times, tried deleting it and doing a clean install, deleted my profile and created a new one, and even deleted my anti virus program. Nothing seems to be working and I am very eager to get my preferred browser working again.

Thanks very much for your insight!

I am trying to access an education video which system check indicates my computer requires an update to firefox. I select the mac version download and the download indicates firefox 60.0.2.dmg (55.6 mb). It does nothing so I click on the download and it shows verifying and then opens to a screen which indicates firefox quantum with a folder with an A on it. When I select the folder it takes me to utilities.

First of all, I'm using Mac. And so, if my firefox is not responding or still lagging, I always force quit it right away. However last night it didn't work like that. My firefox was usually fine after I forced quit it and started it again, but yesterday it crashed from when it was starting.

I'm flustered and try to open it a few more times, but the result was still the same, crash and crash again. Firefox tried to give me options by using the safe mode. I thought it could work if I went with the safe mode, but unfortunately even in safe mode, my firefox still crashed.

And just like that I also don't have a choice to access the troubleshooting menu in firefox because it crashed before I could go there. That's why I'm here to request help.

This is the report ID I just submitted a few minutes before posting this. bp-7dbf5090-1315-48b5-af5f-fe7d20180523

If you need details of the report just ask me. I've already copied that from the crash reporter. Thank you!
