WED 21FEB24 The urgent issue is that in the last few weeks, many web pages do not load content, just a grey or white screen. Some will load the header. I am the Executor for someone's estate, and I am having this trouble with some financial websites that I must access to do the job.

Its been many years since I upgraded anything. It might be that Macintosh Firefox 78.15.0 esr (64 bit) and Thunderbird 60.9.1 are the newest revs that work with OSX 10.11.6 El Capitan. I have a 2011 MacBookPro.

I don't like the changes in the user interface that Apple put into OSX after El Capitan. But I may be forced to upgrade. Too late in life to learn Linux.

Maybe the minimalist solution is to upgrade Firefox. But that may require upgrading OSX, and Apple has made it really hard to do that unless you go to the very newest. OTOH I don't know if the newer OSX will run on my 2011 MacBook Pro. If I clicked on "software update" in About This Mac, what would happen? would it just start doing it, or tell me about it first?

The last time I upgraded something, probably Thunderbird but maybe it was Firefox, I had to learn a complicated process to copy & save the User Profiles (they are in a hidden directory), and then install them into the new rev. I don't want to go through that again. I just want to run the dmg file.

There used to be a Mozilla web page with all the versions & you could download the dmg file you wanted.

If I still have problems, I would have to buy a much newer computer. A several year old MacBookPro. But I don't like the "new" disk formatting method Apple created. It saves space by not actually making copies of files, but uses a pointer to one copy. So there is a single point of failure, which makes copies pointless. I want to keep using OSX Extended (Journaled) and I would have to have the seller of the computer do that for me, before I used Migration Assistant to put my stuff on it. I also hate the welded-on hard drive; being able to pull the drive is the best "broken hardware" solution.

I don't recall if El Capitan has the "OSX Recovery" system or if that happened in a later rev.

I use SuperDuper to make a clone of my hard drive as a backup & archive. I wonder if I could connect a copy on an external drive and then startup using the external copy. Then I could upgrade Firefox and see if it works, then do the same for OSX if necessary, and Thunderbird.

Hi, I cannot use wordpress.com. When I click on "log in" it hangs at the redirect and I only get a blank screen.

I've disabled all extensions, cleared cookies and restarted, nothing seems to work. Any help would be much appreciated.

hi, i see this often: "Website will not allow Firefox to display the page if another site has embedded it".

but even when i click on open site in new window, the new window wont load. just a blank with spinning circle forever {see attached}

this usually happens when i click on a trusted site's "help" tab or button. this is a new problem that just started a week or so ago. {eg, gmail and youtube} please, how can i set it so i can see these view?

No way to ASK a question in the Monitor section, there is no GET HELP button.

In general, getting to the "ask a question" button in the support website is like finding hens teeth.

Didn't there used to be a Discussions forum, where you could see all of the questions being asked?

I have been desperately searching for a solution to this reCaptcha issue for several days now and am now resorting to posting this question as a last resort before I am forced to switch to another browser. I have gone through all the numerous "solutions" to fix the problem and none of them work, as the many other posters have already mentioned.

I am using Firefox version 78.15.0esr (64-bit) on a Mac. I have updated all that I am allowed with my current operating system. I have several websites that I use frequently and about 2 weeks ago, reCaptcha logins have disappeared on those websites and I can no longer access them. So far none of the solutions I have repeatedly gone through resolved this issue, including disabling all extensions and re-installing the application.

Is there anyone out there that knows of a solution that really works?

On many, many, websites when logging in I am getting the above message.

These sites work no issues but why is Firefox not recognized as a accepted browser.

Firefox says I am using the current release, and is up to date?

All this sites are important log on, like BofA, OptumRx, etc.

I am using an iMac, Mac OS 10.11.6.

It is still a really good machine.

I refreshed Firefox, now my logins are all gone and when I input them to sites, click on Save, nothing will save. Also my Facebook page is not missing half the stuff on the page.

I have been trying to identify ongoing problems using Firefox (78.15.0esr (64bit)) on a Mac (using OS10.11.6) wiht Ancestry.com.

Most of the system works fine , except for their internal mail system and graphics.

When I copied some of the text produced (i.e. graphics) into BBEdit, I was able to isolate and produce a graphics output, so I am stumped.

When I spent hours trying to interact with Ancestry, all they do is to send links to FAQ (the same one form different issues) indicating that their 'Tech Support' is less than basic. they of course indicate that Firefox is the issue, but i don't believe this is the case.

I have used another Mac computer to try to access with no luck (changed settings on Firefox e.g. extensions).

Looking for a way to problem solve etc to rule out issues.

BTW Ancestry recommends the use of Firefox as the browser of choice.

I have been requested by e-mail to update my Firefox 78.15.Oesr (64 bits) before the end of March. Is this update compatible with my MacBookPro5,4 with IOS El Capitan 10.11.6? Please note that I cannot install a more recent IOS. Without updating my present Firefox, would I still have access to all my favorite folders and applications? Thanks for your help. Suddenly when I try to go on Youtube, I get messages that I'm blocking ads. I'm on a Mac-mini using X El Capitan V10.11.6, which is the highest I can upgrade to. I'm using Firefox Browser 78.15 (64-bit) and info shows it's up to date. My old Safari browser still will work with Youtube, but Foxfire is my go-to browser.

I am using 78.15.0 esr Firefox browser on early 2008 iMac with OS X 10.11.6. I can't realistically update the OS, as all advice seems to be that anything above 10.11.6 does not work well with the 2008 iMac. 78.15.0 esr Firefox browser is fantastic and I have been happily using it for a few years now. Why force me to stop? Why force me to stop using my super 27" screen iMac, which still works superbly well and would cost many thousands to replace with a new model?

Hello, For me, there is no substitute for browsing with Firefox. But for some time now I've been getting notices that I'm not using the current browser version, for example in my email program and the banking application. However, Firefox info in the menu says that I am using the current version and there are no updates available. Here is the Firefox version shown to me: 78.15.0esr (64-bit) I work with an iMac of the following version: iMac (21.5 inch, from 2010) - OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6 (15G22010); - Processor: 3.06GHz Intel Core i3; - Memory: 4GB 1333MHz DDR3; - Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB Maybe my computer is too old for the latest version, but why does Firefox Info show me that the browser is up to date and there are no updates? I had installed FF version 78 ESR in a newly formatted SSD back in 2020. At that time, two profiles were created automatically under the Profiles folder: xxxxxxx.default, and xxxxxxx.default-esr. The first profile, the one without the "esr" suffix was never used - I don't even know how to switch into it.

The non-esr profile folder had always contained only 6 files totaling about 70 KB. The contents never changed - until a few days ago.

A few days ago I noticed the non-esr profile folder was modified. It now contains 28 files totaling 125 MB. 26 of the 28 files were modified on the same day (May 23rd), at 2 different time points. That folder and contents haven't changed since then.

I continue to use FF using the esr profile without apparent problems, but I would really like to know how/why the non-esr profile got modified suddenly. Any ideas, anybody?

I accidentally deleted the blue star on one of my book-marked items and am struggling to get it back. Its very useful so i can see immediately if somethings already been bookmarked. Plus I could remove easily and/or put into other folders. All solutions appear to be to go to customize firefox and to drag and drop in some bar at the top of the page BUT when i do this it STILL doesn't come back. HELP!!! (Please explain in total laymens terms and don't nauseate me with technolingo.)

The top informational header for my Earthlink email has vanished on Firefox. I still receive email but cannot reply/forward via Firefox. a complete and correct Earthlink email is still found on internet and their website.

How do I get the header for my email back on Firefox?

been spending the day updating passwords and i finally had to update my firefox account password, sadly i had lost the original password so i had to fully reset it. Idk if that contributed to the issue at all but ill mention it just in case this is a known problem. now im trying to sign back in and it just keeps getting stuck loading saying "working" some other things, I use waterfox as my laptop runs macOS 10.11.16, so I'm also worried that this is not a bug but a "feature" intended to push users to update their browsers. as i type this its been "working" on signing me in for about 5 minutes and i doubt its doing anything but spinning that wheel around for show. i was able to sign back in on my phone, any help?

For the past several weeks when I click on Messenger from the Facebook web page I get a blank page with the Facebook header. Same if I click the little shortcut button (brings up a blank box). I've cleared all cookies and cache but no change. I do not have this problem with Safari so I believe it is a Firefox issue and not a Facebook issue.
