The banner pop-up on the top of the screen that continuously nags me to turn on DRM on news web pages is very irritating. I do not approve of DRM and do not want it on my browser. I have been unable to stop this banner and the irritation is now reaching a point where I am considering moving to another browser. There are plenty of non-Google and non-Microsoft ones available now.

Please advise me how I can eliminate this DRM banner.

I used to like Top Sites - but now when I wish to REMOVE a site from a box, whether by "dismiss" or "remove from history", it doesn't remove it - it either puts it in ANOTHER box, replacing the site that WAS in that box, and/or replaces it with another site I have NOT designated as a Top Site - I have 4 rows already, do not desire any more - but now I can make NO new empty boxes for something I want, and have a bunch of boxes with sites I do NOT want.

This might be amusing as a Whack-a-Mole game - but I stopped laughing some time ago ...

My linux mint OS periodically updates me to latest versions of FF. I notice system changes that I'm not sophisticated enough to correct myself. One such change is that new tabs don't always open when I click links, I have to open the new tabs manually. Recently I noticed that website links I used to visit are being redirected through a website called www.smartredirect.de/ ...that take me elsewhere (usually sex dating sites) than the desired webpage I wish to go. How do I disable this www.smartredirect/de action and recover ability to visit those websites I'd like to visit via their links?

the offending website is:

www.smartredirect.de/

Hi there !

Since last Firefox update (81.0) on Linux Mint 19.1 While opening a PDF document with built-in PDF reader, when I want to save the document with CTRL+S, the document name, in prior version, was the name specified in request header "Content-Disposition inline;filename='customisedName.pdf'" and since version 81 the name is "document.pdf". The name specified in content-disposition is used when clicking on download icon but saving this way resulting the document was stored in default download directory but with CTRL+S Firefox asking where to save and remember last used folder, so useful !

Is there a hidden configuration for helping me keeping the name of the document while using CTRL+S ? Can anyone confirm it's a regression and could inform developer upstream ?

Thanks for your help

Hi all,

I run Firefox 81 from Arch Linux, fresh updated.

My system recognize correctly the smart card reader and when I plug my cards off and on, unfortunately if I try to log into websites using the certificate stored in my card, it simply doesn't find any certificate nor smart card.

As displayed in attached image, firefox shows the smart card reader with the status "not present", not matter if the card is plugged on or off.

If I switch to Windows 10, Microsoft edge recognize correctly certificates on my smartcard and allows my to log in, but, unfortunately, Firefox doesn't find smart card reader neither on Windows 10.

Any suggests? Thank you all in advance for your support, Best regards! Alberto

Hello Firefox community, I'm having a problem where, when I click a link (in a pdf, specifically), Firefox opens like usual but for some reason, my keyboard gets disabled. I can click and navigate through pages that way, but I cannot type anything in the search bar, nor in programs (such as Drive). Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?

Turning it on again and restarting the browser makes it run smoothly again. I am using Xubuntu Focal Fossa LTS.

Anyone has any idea as to why this is happening?

Same problem with Manjaro on Raspberry Pi 4 - when "Title bar" is disabled video performance gets quite sluggish - I tested a lot to find out which one of my settings was problematic ... I don't know why this little modification behaves that strange, but it is quite a big deal for slow or energy efficient hardware ...

In previous versions of Firefox, I could view a web page with various links, and I could select a link to open in a new tab. Once I was finished in the new tab, I could close the new tab, and return to the original web page, and find the previously selected link because it still had a rectangle outline around it.

In the latest versions of Firefox, this rectangle no longer appears, so it's impossible to know where I was on the original web page.

Is there a way to get this feature back?

I'm doing some testing regarding mutual SSL authentication, and when I try to add the .pfx certificate that I generated, I get "The PKCS #12 operation failed for unknown reasons" as the error, and the certificate doesn't get added.

I tried this on another browser, and there was no problem regarding the usage of the certificate, so I can assure the certificate, its data, or the generation process was wrong.

I'm currently using Firefox 80.0.1 64-bit for Ubuntu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a Linux user. So I have a folder called .moziila. Firefox use this folder to save settings and so on. If you are a Windows user you also have this folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla.

So I have a folder (Linux) /home/name/.mozilla/firefox/rt7gtt8p.default/ (I will call it System Folder later)

If I would be a Windows user I would have this folder here: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default (I will call it System Folder later)

But I want to have a folder called "sessionstore-backups" in System Folder. I had it and I want enable it folder again.

How can I enable "sessionstore-backups" in System Folder? My goal is to have a file called recovery.jsonlz4. Without this folder Firefox will not create recovery.jsonlz4 for me. So I don't have a folder "sessionstore-backups" and I don't have a file called "recovery.jsonlz4" but I want to have it, but how? Maybe I need to add something to about:config?

I'd like to be able to remap most of the key commands in Firefox to be more ergonomic such as

  • Ctrl-h: select tab left instead of Ctrl-tab
  • Ctrl-l: select tab right instead of Ctrl-shift-tab
  • Ctrl-j: scroll down half a page instead of Space
  • Ctrl-k: scroll up half a page instead of Shift-space
  • etc

Is it possible to change these key commands by configuring Firefox or modifying its configuration files? I've considered setting up an external program to remap keys when the Firefox window is focused, and compiling Firefox from source, but I'd like to know if it's possible without doing this.
