With HTTPS only Mode I notice that the "s" does not appear in the address bar like before. Should it be there? For instance, when on a secure site, before signing in I always look for a closed lock and the "s" in the web address indicating the site is secure.

Hello, I would wish to return to the old view in full, that is, complete spelling of the true complete url, including "http" or "https" in the url that shows up in the address bar for any website. It looks like mozilla decided to hide the "http" and "https" just because it is automatically verified, but I am not happy with it being hidden. How can I set it back to always show up by default? Thanks a lot in advance.

Via C > Users > User > Appdata > Roaming > Firefox > Profiles >x73axdaw.default-release> storage > Default I'm presented with my various website stored info. What I'd like to know is how via the files I can discover the relevant url if able. For example in the screenshot noclip.website is a valid url, other option not so.

Metadata doesn't seem to be helpful and can't find out a "target url" looking through other files.

OS: Xubuntu 24.04.2 Firefox: All version for quite a long time up through version 137.01

In general I have no problem with direct URLs loaded into Firefox, whether from local links or from remote sites.

However, sometimes, possibly as a result of an embedded link in an email, or from a site that pops-up a new instance of the default browser (i.e., Firefox), the URL is mangled with a local filesystem path prepended to the proper URL. The path seems to be one that Firefox accessed in the recent past. For example, a path such as: /usr/local/bin

When clicking on the link, the browser starts up with the URL field showing: /usr/local/binhttps://.........

I then have to delete the leading path component before I can access the URL. I'd include a test case if I could find something repeatable that I could post here, but at the moment I don't have one.

Any ideas why this is happening and any suggestions for a way to stop Firefox from prepending the local filesystem path?

Thanks.

I am looking for a solution that will allow links to open in the same tab rather than tab, tab, tab, tab, tab, tab, tab. I am also having issue with sign ins opening a new blank tab and not having the ability to sign in at all. I've been using Firefox since I quit Netscape. And yes, I tried many epic fails that were disguised as solutions that don't work. I'm seriously about to give up on this browser if I can't get what I had after a SSD drive fail that forced me to reinstall from the ground up.

When i try to drag a text/word/link to between tabs (i generally have 10 tabs open) it opens a new tab at the far right. I tried to change "browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent" but it just opens the new tab next to the tab that i'm viewing. For example, when i'm at the sixth tab and i want to open a new tab (by dragging) between third and fourth tabs it opens that tab on the far right. This wasn't like that before how can i change it?

In the distant past, I used to be able to set Firefox to NOT auto-highlight the URL-bar when I single-click.

At some point Firefox removed this ability. I was wondering in 2025 if there is some workaround to get this function working again.

I would like to have Firefox work this way: -a single click places the cursor in the URL-bar without any highlight (if I want the entire URL-bar highlighted, I will use CRL+L) -a double-click will highlight a specific word or content between two dots (e.g., double-clicking on "mozilla" will highlight just mozilla in support.mozilla.org -it's fine with me if a triple-click highlights the entire URL-bar but I don't require it.

Hi – When I type a URL into the address bar, I get a list of suggestions for autocomplete. I can select the site I want, hit enter, and go to that site, or what I usually do is hit command+enter, which opens the site in a new tab. But for the last couple days, when I hit command+enter, the autocomplete deselects and I don't open a new tab. For example, if I type "go," the autocomplete suggests "google.com," I hit command+enter, and the current tab I'm on goes to "go.com."

This is really a pain because it's a very natural part of my workflow to go to websites in new tabs. Of course I can just open a new tab and type in the URL there, but I'd love to be able to keep using my browser the way I'm used to. Is it possible that I made a change to my settings accidentally? I can't find anything in the Firefox settings but I imagine i must have done something. I did check and none of my keys are stuck or anything.

I'm on MacOS Monterey, Version 12.7.2, and my Firefox is version 136.0 (64-bit)

Thank you very much!

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/136.0/releasenotes/ in 136.0 the shortcut for completing search strings to .com addresses has been changed from Ctrl+Enter to Cmd+Enter.

I visited quite a few unwanted sites today since i was used to cmd+enter shortcut for years. I type google.com and it highlights goo as I type. and instead of opening google.com in a new tab i visit goo.com in current tab. what a painful change. I had to dig to disable the .com autocomplete in the firefox setting (browser.fixup.alternate.prefix and browser.fixup.alternate.suffix), and get used to option + enter instead.

would be nice if this could be customized.

I'm trying to access my printer's embedded web server (EWS) by typing the printer's IP address into the address bar (as instructed by Dell support ). However, when I do this on desktop, Firefox treats the IP address as a search term, and takes me to search results instead of the the EWS. When I tried on Firefox for Android and Firefox Focus for Android, I did not have the same issue, but instead was taken to an all-black page (still unable to access the settings I need!). Any thoughts as to what might be going on and how to fix it?

Google Chrome treats the IP address as a search term on both desktop and mobile, so this might be a problem bigger than Firefox.
