My Firefox (version 56) on Ubuntu 18.04 suddenly stopped working. The program starts, I can access menus etc and type an address, but nothing renders at all. I have no issues with other browsers (Chrome, Chromium, Konqueror) or other internet applications. The firefox issue is also present for other user accounts. The issue is both with internet sites and sites on my local network, such as my router.

I have tried:

• Booting in an older Linux kernel
• using IP numbers (that work in other browsers) instead of DNS names
• Firefox safe mode / refresh
• Deleting profile completely
• Completely purge Firefox (and mozilla profile directories) and reinstall (versions 56, 67, 86) both from canonical and from mozilla.org
• Updating Nvidia graphics driver from v415 to v460
• I was able to access the config and preferences pages by specifying it from the command line (firefox about:config or firefox about:preferences) so I could try:
• Checking proxy settings (no proxy)
• disabling IPv6

To no avail. All versions of Firefox remains just white. I'm out of ideas - any suggestions? :-)

It's been a couple of weeks that I cannot use Firefox on my Ubuntu system. When I try to open it, it displays the crash report directly. I have tried private mode, safe mode, uninstall/reinstall, tried to launch the profile manager same results.. crash report..

I am attaching a screenshot from the terminal when I try to launch profile manager.

Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Hi, I've an old printer, a HP 970Cxi which I think is similar to a HP 970cse. I've used firefox for a long time with this printer with no problem, but recently it started printing double width or more characters rendering the printouts useless. If a document is in PDF form, I have to save it and then print it out from a separate PDF viewer. If printing a web page or a receipt, I have to use another browser or try and copy the page to MSWord for printing. I'm guessing this might be a problem caused by an update, but if not, what setting is causing this? The paper is set to A4 and all settings I can see look fine. Thanks

Hello all. For the past couple months i've been able to use the web version of Google Earth within the browser with little to no issue. However, about a week or two ago I discovered Google Earth stopped working whenever I tried to use it. I would navigate to Google Earth's website, click "Launch Google Earth", and be met with this loading screen which never changes. I went to Google for help and they had me run Memtest86 on my computer, to which I found all of my RAM sticks were fully functional with 0 error or issue.

I am using the absolute latest version of firefox as well as my operating system. I am running Windows 10 on a custom built PC for gaming, 64-bit. I've tried the following:

-disabling browser addons -restarting firefox -disabling my antivirus -disabling my antimalware -restarting computer (multiple times) -disabling ALL of my browser addons

Now at first google earth wouldn't load in google chrome either, but at some point during my troubleshooting for fixing google earth on firefox, google earth began loading in chrome with no issue. As of now the only browser that can't pull up google earth is Firefox. I've attached a screenshot of the error messages I see when loading Google Earth in firefox.

Please, any and all help would be greatly appreciated. If there's anymore relevant, useful information I could provide then please let me know.

some day ago I tried to download a .zip file which was instantly blocked by firefox and my antivirus program. So this was obviously some bad shit. I didn´t even try to open it or whatever and I directy deleted the file completely and cleared my firefox browser history and cookies, website data and cache. My settings also clear everything when I close firefox.

So the problem is, that every time I open firefox, still the note pops up that the download of this file, which "contains a virus or malware" was blocked (see screenshot). And every time I click "clear browser history". But the next time same again. The file is also not in the download folder or somewhere else so idk...

How can I stop this and be sure that this file (which somehow does not exist on my computer) doesn´t try to do any strange stuff?

I've run the complete scan of my antivirus (bitdefender pay version) a couple of times, no results.

Can anyone help me plz?

Hi, in our city there is a blogger who every day writes interesting articles and asks his readers to comment on his blogs. I can go to his website and read the blogs, but when I send a comment, it doesn't get through. How can that be? I'm using Firefox version 86.0 (64-bit). I would be happy if someone could help me.

I have fixed (it's slow as **** on PC but works from my phone still), my printer which stopped working briefly, however I am unable to print pages in Firefox as even the preview window fails to load, changing browser doesn't work. I will try restarting Firefox but doubt it will work (restarting never has in the past).

Yesterday I was using Firefox normally (browsing, Discord, etc.). Today when I opened it, it wouldn't load any page. If I type something in the adress bar it will auto-complete or show suggestions based on google, but when I hit enter, nothing happens. It doesn't even try to load anything. I also can't go into options. When I click on the options button, nothing happens. I am not running in any compatibility modes. I have tried reinstalling Firefox, didn't help. I am not using any add-ons. I have done several virus searches. Other browsers work fine. I'm running out of ideas now, that's why I'm doing this post.

I have a problem with firefox, i'm using a MacBookPro2012 with Ubuntu 18.04. It wont start at all, not even in save mode (without extensions). I tried to deinstall it several times, but after the reinstallation it keeps crashing.

That's was the crash report says. I don't know what to do, can anybody help out?

Whenever I click on a file to download in Firefox the dialogue box pops up asking what I would like to do with the file. I can select Open or Save as usual, but no matter what I press or how long I wait the ok button remains greyed out and unselectable. This means I can't download anything in Firefox which is very frustrating. Downloading works fine in other browsers.

So far I have run the refresh thing on Firefox which hasn't helped. I do not have any Parental Controls on as far as I know, this is a brand new computer, no children use any computers in this house and I have never activated anything like that. I have also cleared the downloads folder which had no affect either.

I just can't work out why it isn't working.

I'm running Arch btw, with GNOME Shell 3.38.3 and Firefox 86.0 (64-bit).

If I have Firefox already open and I click on a link inside of another app, Firefox displays the following error message and the link fails to open.

Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To use Firefox, you must first close the existing Firefox process, restart your device, or use a different profile.

However, if I close Firefox and then click the link again, Firefox will correctly open the link.

until yesterday afteroon all was working ok, but now i can't reply/forward or send any new email. No error message at all, just clicking relevant option does nothing at all.

Only firefox browser affected & webmail account working fully on other browsers. Help! thanks

I am using Mozilla Firefox 86.0 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Desktop, I am unable to play any kind of Video embedded on my Websites, I've also tried disabling the Hardware Acceleration in Firefox Setting, but still, the issue remains the same.

in my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS -> ffmpeg is installed, libavcodec-extra is also installed, but I am unable to understand why Mozilla Firefox is not playing the Videos in the Browser?

please help me in this case, I am frustrated with this for 2 months or more.

On Firefox, I am getting this yellow bar stating, "A web page is slowing down your browser." I am getting this frequently everyday. After I click on "Stop it", it disappears, but Firefox remains frozen and I have to close it, most of the time through the task manager. I have refreshed Firefox, but the message still keeps on appearing, most of the time when I am on AOL. This problem is making Firefox useless for me. I have also read similar experiences from many other Firefox users. Why can Firefox not fix it? It is not even listed in the Firefox problems and solutions.

My Firefox installation (86.0 64-bit on macOS 10.15.7) always crashes on opening gmail.com. It seems to be on the point it loads the hangout stuff, but that's subjective. Also seems to happen on other google domains, like meet.google.com

What I've done:

• Tested if crash happens in safe mode (yes)
• Refreshed my installation: still happens
• Removed all cookies for google domains, still happens
• Created a fully new profile, crash still happens
• Installed a new Firefox from the website, crash still happens

For more than a year, I've been plagued with, "A web page is slowing down your browser."

It appears most often on Facebook and while multiple tabs are loaded, but other websites cause it to happen, as well, even when Facebook isn't loaded at all. The fewest multiple tabs that trigger this behavior is two (2), though it usually rears its head with around seven or more.

It appears whether extensions or plugins are disabled or not.

This never happens with Google Chrome.

I'm using the latest, 64-bit version of Firefox with automatic updates enabled.

This has been happening for more than a year.

Once a page begins to display this, it's done for the day about 80% of the time.

Closing multiple tabs does NOT solve the problem once it occurs.

Closing Firefox entirely (all tabs) does solve the problem, but only for a while.

Choosing Stop It or Wait doesn't seem to solve anything.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, twice.

OS: Windows 10 64-bit Anti-virus: Bitdefender Total Security for the second half of the year; Norton Security for the first half of the year.

I really wish Mozilla would put some effort into actually FIXING this major problem, as I've reached the point where I'm about to ditch Firefox entirely and go back to using Google Chrome. Judging by what I've found in these forums, it's been around since 2017, and none of the tips given therein have worked.

It's almost as if something in a tab other than the current one is occupying an excessive amount of processor cycles, and instead of managing it properly, Firefox gets hung up trying to

Suspicion: Facebook, possibly YouTube (owned by Google) intentionally "exercises" Firefox browsers in the hopes of getting users to drop it and go back to the far less secure Google Chrome.

Is there anyway to Override this? It is EXTREMELY ANNOYING! The website was perfectly accessible up until a few days ago.
