Hi all,

I've got an offline 2008R2 workstation with Firefox 65.0.2 installed, just recently it will only display a blank page. Clicking options does nothing as does navigating to about:config, it just sits on the blank page and doesn't react.

I've tried to reinstall the current version, the latest stable and the latest ESR with no change. I made sure to delete the following each time: C:\Program Files (x86)\*mozilla* C:\Program Files\*mozilla* C:\ProgramData\Mozilla C:\Users\Me\AppData\*\Mozilla Computer\HKLM\SOFTWARE\*mozilla*

Nobody knows of any recent changes to the workstation I've turned off AV Windows logs don't show anything Starting FF in safe mode does the exact same thing

Additionally I'm not allowed to take any screenshots or anything off it. :(

I highly appreciate any advice anyone has!

For nearly half a year I've had a very strange issue with a tab that simply vanishes. It's taken a while to notice and then figure out the pattern, and here's how it seems to go...

I launch Firefox, which already has many open tabs; it's set to reopen my previous session. Typically I then open a new tab to check my email, do a DuckDuckGo search, or something else (but the activity/website doesn't seem to matter). Then something in my email or my search will inspire me to open a second new tab. All of a sudden when I do that, the first new tab of the session is gone. So for example if I was checking my email and saw something I wanted to research, I'd open a new tab and all of a sudden the email tab is gone.

At least a few times I've then opened a *third* tab to go back to the website I just lost, and suddenly the vanished tab will reappear, and I'd then have duplicate tabs on the same website.

Much more often the vanished tab does not return until *later.* That is, I eventually close Firefox and eventually reopen it, and suddenly there it is again. I believe, but I'm not certain, that this *always* causes the vanished tab to reappear. It's a pain to rely on this fix, though, especially since it can take something like 20 seconds to reload all those tabs.

I think this strange behavior only happens when I first launch Firefox -- in other words, only once per session. I've never noticed it hapening a second time in the same session. I can freely open new tabs without fear of losing another (at least none that are in the visible part of the tab row).

Anyone else have this issue? Or can you recreate it?

Hi guys. First of all sorry for my bad English ^^ I'm using FF from Italy, and we use for several things a smartcard, using certificates and similars.

So, the problem is, when I put the smartcard in the reader, firfox stop responding. I have to restart the browser, then FF recognize the smartcard and I can login in websites.

This problems started with FF 84.0.1 and continue in 84.0.2

How to resolve? Thank you!

After using Facebook Watch on Windows 10 for a while, Process Explorer will show one Firefox Process with a huge amount of memory, which takes up to two minutes of high processor usage to be released once the tab is closed. This slows work with the other Firefox tabs. Firefox Task Manager "forgets" about it as soon as the tab is closed. This does not happen on Android.

This problem has been around for a long time. Just thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas other than not watch FB videos.

Good evening. I have recently broken my laptop screen, and I was able to transfer my profile onto my work laptop, on which I have just installed Firefox (84.0, Windows 10). After installation, I was able to retrieve open tabs, bookmarks etc. although, whenever I turn off and on the laptop, I can use firefox for like a minute, then the firefox icon on the desktop disappears and the program gets killed. Firefox is installed though, because I can retrieve it from search, but when I click on the app, it doesn't open the usual tabs I have opened, but instead tries to load an empty page with a message underneath that says that I should connect to a network. Reinstalling Firefox fixes the issue for me, but it's a temporary fix. Is there any way I could make this permanent? I should reinstate that this is a company laptop, obviously I am authorised to use it for personal use, but it might be something to do with that.

I recently switched from Chrome to Firefox so that Google is not collecting quite so much information about me. I tried to create a USPS CLick N Ship label, but something is happening and it won't let me finish creating it.

This is not about printing a label , it's about creating one to be printed.

To create a label, I go to https://cns.usps.com/index.shtml and put in all the info about who the package is from, who it's going to, ship date, type of package, etc. Once all that info is filled out, there's a button at the bottom that says Select Service And Packaging. That takes you to the next screen where it says "PROCESSING" for second, then displays the next screen where you select which flat rate service to use, insurance, options like signatures, etc. This is a full screen in the same tab, not a popup.

With Chrome, this works fine, I do it nearly every day, so I'm quite familiar with the process. With Firefox, when I click on Select Service And Packaging, it flashes the PROCESSING for about half a second, then displays the same screen. Even though the next step is not a popup, I tried adding usps.com as and exception to popup blocking. That didn't help. I tried disabling popup blocking altogether. That didn't change anything. I went back to my Chrome and created the label I need with no problems, so it's not a USPS problem.

This is also a new Firefox installation, so it isn't like i have all sorts of addons or plugins installed. I have not tried it in safe mode, as I have created my label for today, but I could try that next time I need to create a label.

Any suggestions on what I need to do to Firefox to fix this? I'd prefer to be able to use Firefox for everything.

Inconsistent Firefox Instances When Started As User vs System

I'm running Firefox Portable on Windows 10. There is only one executable file in one location.

When I open Firefox as a user, by clicking the icon, I get a different instance of Firefox than if the system opens Firefox [for example, if I click on a link in a different program that opens in a browser]

How do I stop this from happening? I've attached a screenshot to illustrate the differences between the two instances:

1a/1b - User instance does not have pinned tabs, while system instance does. 2a/2b - Despite being logged in to the same Firefox Account/Profile, the toolbar is ordered differently between the two instances. 3a/3b - They're both using the same installed OneTab extension, but they have different numbers of pages stored. 4a/4b - They have a discrepancy in pages and dates for stored items.

I don't seem to have a way of selecting which instance I get manually. If I had pages pinned or saved in OneTab in a System invoked instance, without being aware it is a System instance, and my laptop restarts, I can't resume that instance and recover those pages without using another program or app to invoke it. No matter how many times I open, close, restart, whatever, Firefox myself, I won't be able to get those pages or pins back.

It caused for a lot of frustration, and doubts about my sanity, before I finally realized what was happening, and now I'd very much like to know how to make it stop and operate a unified instance no matter how it is invoked.

So I live in India and out here there is a c**t of an ISP called BSNL that provides broadband and landline service. When I browse, I tend to open a lot of Firefox tabs via Google, and some of them could be HTTP tabs. Often I could be reading a bunch of tutorials like this one: http://denethor.wlu.ca/ltspice/ which is quite long and involved. Which means that sometimes I shutdown my browser without having finished with this website/tutorial.

When I restart my browser, I hover over the Tab or scroll them to get back to what I was doing and this is where these unmitigated BSNL b@st@rds come into the picture.

They redirect all HTTP requests to https://fuptopup.bsnl.co.in/dailyFupPlanRedirection.do and I lose my Tab! I can firewall that IP by dropping its packets and that slows things down giving me enough time to hit Esc and cancel what's going on.. or what I usually do is log everything to /tmp and then poke around in log to find my URL by grepping for http://

It's still very annoying - what do I do? I would like to murder the person responsible very very slowly or at least roast their cursed toes over hot coals but besides wishful thinking - what do I do?

(they also do other village idiot type things like redirect HTTP to ads and spyware but I've not noticed that recently, after I complained to the Swedish government, about the Swedish server hosting these gross turds)

A Firefox solution would be ideal since this affects security - the random redirecting of HTTP to places unknown by unscrupulous ISPs run by the local village idiot/DSLAM. (please forgive the rude words but I'm hoping that name sticks in peoples minds - BSNL - Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited - may the world, punitively, never hire these rotten scumbags)

Hello!

I am using Firefox on my notebook with external monitor.

When the external monitor is set up as the main display and above the notebook monitor, the toolbar popup menus in Firefox are cut off on the notebook monitor (≡ & addons like uBlock etc.), so only a small upper part of them is displayed. The ≡ menu can be fully operated in this case because it has scroll bars, the addons' menus do not.

If the notebook monitor is set up as the primary monitor or is not below the external monitor, the problem does not occur.

Disabling all addons does not cause any change.

The problem does not occur with other browsers either.

Would appreciate some help!

Almost since the day I first updated to Catalina I have had an intermittent problem with Firefox. The browser hangs, seemingly at random, multiple times per day, with the page either freezing or appearing to be trying to open a page. When this happens, sometimes the page can be closed, and sometimes not, but in all cases the menu bar is inoperable and moving the cursor to it causes a spinning color wheel to be displayed. Firefox can then be closed only by using Force Quit. Subsequently, attempting to reopen Firefox cause the icon on the dock to bounce but the program never finishes opening. The only way to interrupt this process is to again use Force Quit. After Firefox has hung, all other programs continue to work normally, but the only way to reopen the browser is to restart the computer. When Restart is chosen after a hang, the computer takes much longer to shut down than under normal circumstances, and when it restarts it generates an error message that the computer was shut down due to a problem.

The problem occurs in cycles, with the program hanging several to many times each day for several days to as long as two weeks, then it appears to resolve itself and doesn't occur for a week to as long as six weeks before it returns. The problem has continued through several updates of Firefox and of Catalina. During times when it was occurring, I have tried everything suggested for fixing hangs, including disabling extensions, deleting Session Restore files, creating a new Places database, a clean install of Firefox, and reloading Catalina. Nothing has helped.

Surely I am not the only one experiencing this problem, but I can find no reference to it. I would be very grateful if someone could offer any insight.

Thanks.
