I have just installed Firefox 57 (Quantum) 64 bit on my PC and my Laptop (both Windows 10 (1709)).
On both my machines, Quantum displays pages appallingly slowly and often freezes, when no tabs or the settings menu can be selected and nothing else produces a response.
I cannot believe that this software has been properly tested on users' machines at their homes - its deficiencies would have been blindingly obvious. Their is clearly a huge problem here.
I was so looking forward to returning to Firefox but it is a complete disaster.
Please find a fix soon or I will have to uninstall Firefox, maybe permanently. It is useless to me in its present state.

After the update yesterday to Firefox Quantum, I can no longer use Firefox on my desktop. It is slow, it hangs and then freezes. I've tried everything in the troubleshooting section (profiles, drivers, refresh, fresh install, everything.) I am posting this message from...gasp...Microsoft Edge. I really hope there is someone who can help me, I really don't want to have to leave Firefox!

Ever since I updated to Firefox 57, opening a new tab has caused my entire desktop to lag out, stopping me from all navigation and freezing Firefox for 5-30 seconds. This doesn't happen when I'm opening one of my bookmarks in a new tab, or even any link with content on it - it's exclusively when I open a new blank tab. I've tried disabling all of the content on the new tab page, but the problem still persists. As it is now, I've started opening a new Facebook tab before doing what I want because it's quicker and less destructive!
I'm running an i7 with 16Gb of RAM, so my computer isn't the problem - indeed, I didn't have this problem with the previous version of Firefox either. I've tried refreshing the install but the problem persists. Any ideas?

I had been using regular firefox, and with the add-ons I had for saving photos and movies, my browsing experience was basically perfect on my Surface Pro 4. Now Quantum comes and the touchscreen is terrible to use. It seems to randomly be interacting with the sites, it will click things when I do not mean to click them, and holding to use the context menu barely works. Everything used to be usable with a finger, but I frequently find myself having to use the stylus to even get it to recognize input at all.
There does not seem to be any way that I see to calibrate this to make it better.

Firefox recently updated to a sleek new look with claims of being one of the fastest browsers out there. I was not disappointed until I started trying to use more than one tab at a time.
Main problem: Opening a new tab consistently freezes Firefox Quantum for 5-10 seconds. Additional problem: Switching between open tabs and a "new tab" also freezes FF for 2-5 seconds.
Attempted solutions: - Firefox refresh - Profile reset - Disable/enable hardware acceleration - Firefox Safe Mode - Full uninstall/reinstall - Change New Tab settings to display only an empty page - Update display drivers - Install Shockwave Flash
None of these seem to have helped, and there are already a few reports about very similar issues with this latest update. Hope for a quick resolution, as FF was always my go-to browser.

Occasionally, any piece of complex software will stop responding, and need to be forcibly shut down. I had such an event today when the right-click (context) menus and title-bar menus wouldn't appear. However, since upgrading to FF 57, I now see about 6 Firefox tasks and 6 firefox.exe processes in the Task Manager (Windows 10).
I like the feature of being able to restart Firefox (after killing it) and have my previous session restored, but the processes aren't really distinguishable in Task Manager, so I don't know which one to end/kill. I had to kill a few of them today before I stumbled upon the "main" process and Firefox disappeared. Can you help me to identify the main process for next time?

Hi,
Last night when I turned on my laptop, Firefox automatically updated itself. Immediately, it was very, very slow, then stalled, and crashed. I reopened it a couple more times, but still the same. At one point, it locked up my computer. I restarted it with add-ons disabled, but that didn't help. I've also refreshed it, and that too didn't work. I've used Firefox for many years and have never had a problem like this. My OS is Windows 10 (64-bit) and the rest of the computer is working fine.
Thanks!

Environment: Windows 10 Creators Fall 2017 Edition Intel HD Graphics 4000 Driver 07/04/2017 10.18.10.4653 - latest available.
Fixes tried: Disable HW acceleration webgl.disabled=true Neither worked
Tried MS Driver: Uninstalled device and deleted driver. Windows installed a generic driver.
- Firefox then worked normally.
- Generic driver is not an acceptable solution because it does not support the size of my monitor - it is a 4:3 window on a 9:16 display.
Reinstalled latest Intel driver - problem recurred.

Two days ago Firefox upgraded itself to 57 (Quantum). It worked fine, although without some add-ons that I depend on, and with a difficult-to-read color scheme. Tonight Windows updated itself and Firefox stopped working. The window minimized itself through a series of sequentially smaller windows until it was apparently just a few pixels wide and high. When I try to re-open Firefox I can OCASIONALLY get it to open a very small window and tried restoring it to its default state, but that didn't improve anything.
I'm running a Dell XPS 8700.
If you have any suggestions I'd like to hear them. I've been using Firefox for more than 10 years and I really like it, but this "upgrade" has been a fiasco for me. I'm currently using Edge, and I've downloaded Chrome which right now looks like my new browser.

After upgrading to V57.0 Mozilla is almost impossible to use because it is so slow, for example taking 10 to 20 seconds to open (or close) a new tab. Won't maximise from taskbar icon when minimised (opening another tab before minimising then closing Mozilla from taskbar produces dialog box and maximises). Using Chrome to send this as Mozilla is too slow. Note that Chrome is working perfectly. Thanks

Ever since I upgraded to Firefox Quantum this has happened: Whenever i'm on a YouTube page where the sidebar (where you see Subcriptions, Saved/Your Playlists, etc.) it always makes Firefox Quantum freeze and say "A webpage is slowing down your browser."
Clicking "Wait" does nothing and just makes the error pop up again after a few seconds. I have to click "Stop It" to make it fully load. This doesn't seem to happen on a video page as, for me, the sidebar isn't shown when I'm on a video page.
Is there any reason it is doing this? YouTube worked fine before I upgraded to Quantum, and now it seems like YouTube doesn't want to work with Quantum correctly?
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit.

12/11/17 Mozilla Firefox crashed while my husband was on MSN News. Monitor went to a black screen, then rebooted on its own. Note: This crash did not show up on the Mozilla Troubleshooting--Crash Report. A couple hours later, he logged onto Mozilla Foxfire with no problem.
12/12/17 Husband could not open Mozilla Firefox. Hourglass would spin, then go away. The program would not open. Note: My account (wife) has no problem loading Mozilla Firefox.
Actions taken: I did a Mozilla Firefox Troubleshoot to no avail. I updated Firefox to "Firefox Quantum". This did not fix my husband's account. Also, did a Kaspersky and MalwareBytes update and full scans. As for your suggestions, I will have to check the Firefox version, and installed plug-ins. Operating System is Windows 10 Home but Mozilla Foxfire is showing Windows 8. Any suggestions are helpful. Thank you.
