I intend to upgrade my desktop PC from Win 8.1 to Win 10 soon due to Microsoft discontinuing support for 8.1 next January and I want to know how to preserve all my current settings in Firefox (including saved Pocket articles). Also, does anyone know for certain whether or not Firefox will be automatically migrated to Win 10 in the upgrade? (If it does, maybe that will answer my first question?)

This has been an issue with FireFox for at least the past ten versions of Firefox for me, but I'm just now bringing it up. When muting tabs, those tabs will become unmuted when they refresh, or if a new video starts playing in that tab. Everytime I search for people with this issue, I'm surprised to see no one else having this issue. I've given up from there each of those dozen previous times. I don't mute tabs that often, but when I do, this issue is infuriating. So infuriating, that it almost seems like this is a default setting Mozilla has to have been pressured into by advertisers, given how unpopular it must be.

I'm on Windows 10 with a %TEMP% path variable that points to a Temp folder on my 16GB RAM Disk. This has caused issues in the past, such as not being able to drag and drop tabs after running Glary Utilities or updating Firefox through Chocolatey's package manager if I didn't close FireFox before doing so, but such issues have always been resolved with a PC restart. This issue has not.

Is there some setting I can change in FireFox's about:config to stop this horrible behaviour?

I have noticed this mostly while browsing facebook, but can happen in more websites. I cannot recall which at the moment.

When ever I browse for more than a few minutes, and in the process also open new tabs of facebook (different groups and posts), after a while, images won't load (screenshot attached).

This can be fixed by exiting and relaunching the firefox browser. Or, it can be fixed by itself if I refresh some times, or maybe after a few minutes of me not browsing facebook.

I have tried disabling the ad-block software for the site, as well as disabling firefox enhanced tracking protection - and then refreshing. There was no change. Also, I use the Multi Firefox Account Container, and I tried opening facebook tab in "no container" but it will still open in the facebook container (I still see the colored line no top), so I am not sure if that can fix it.

Another issue I experience, is while scrolling - the more I scroll down and see more posts, the slower and more sluggish facebook gets. I do not remember this being an issue a while ago.

If you need more information, let me know

I'm having an issue where Firefox (Linux, 96.0.3) will crash after it's been running for a while but no crash report is generated. This is on an older Intel NUC with 2GB RAM running Clear Linux and intended to be used as a digital sign. No other applications are running. There is only a single tab loading a single page from localhost. No extensions are installed. The page is a simple layout using CSS grid. Javascript is used to create a slider with four slides, to cycle through a series of videos hosted locally, and periodically check for content updates. Below is the JS in it's entirety.

My feeling is that it's a memory issue, possibly to do with the video playlist, but I've been monitoring memory usage via about:performance and the tab with the sign has never used more than about 5MB. I've also been monitoring the system resources via htop and I've never seen it go higher than about 1000MB. How can I track down this issue?

Thanks in advance!

<script>

   const swiper = new Swiper('.swiper', {
       autoplay:{delay:10000},
       loop:true,
       effect: 'fade',
       fadeEffect:{crossFade:true}
   });

   let video = document.querySelector('video'),
       source = video.querySelector('source'),
       vids = Object.values(JSON.parse('!getVideos')),
       i = 1; //start at 1 instead of 0 because the first is already playing

   video.addEventListener('ended', function(){
       source.src = vids[i++];
       if(i == vids.length) i = 0;
       video.load();
       video.play();
   });

   //check for content updates

       lastUpdate = null;

       headers.append('cache-control', 'no-store, must-revalidate');

       fetch(req, {method:'GET', headers:headers})
           .then(response => response.json())
           .then(data => {
               let updated = JSON.stringify(data)

Following a VERY troubled update to Windows, which required several hard shutdown/reboots, invoked an automatic attempt to repair Windows, reported that the repair attempt failed, but then booted into Windows normally, the only thing that seems to be wrong is that certain websites report "Secure Connection Failed" with an error code PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR. Contrary to the support page, there is no option to report this to Mozilla; the only option is to retry. When I click retry, I get the same page with the error code PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR. This is not a problem with the website -- same website works fine in Firefox on both other computers in house, one running Windows 10 and one running Windows 11. This is not a problem with the operating system -- I have used both the system file check and distribution manager to check/repair Windows system files, and also successfully accessed the web page using Internet Explorer (Microsoft Edge is disabled in Policy Management). So this is clearly a problem with Firefox. I attempted to reset Firefox, but it didn't help. I then uninstalled Firefox, and attempted a clean re-install; I'm not sure how clean the reinstall was, because it detected the prior installation, and imported things. The sites I can't access include Wikipedia (of all things!), some links in the Firefox support pages, and my on-line banking website, which is pretty critical. Other websites work just fine, including most of my other financial accounts -- credit cards, etc. HELP!

I just noticed that on the Logins & Passwords page (about:logins), it is possible to search on logins by password. In my opinion this is a security threat, as it makes password guessing nearly trivial. Sure, an attacker would have to get their hands on your laptop/computer, but they can use this strategy to find your password without having to know your master password. I'd love to know whether A) this is intended behavior, and B) if so, if there is a way to turn this off.

I have had to use a competitor's browser to complete Noticed this first yesterday and again just now. Are there any known issues?

One of my tabs split off from the bar leaving me two versions of Firefox open. I accidentally closed the main page with all the many tabs first and thus the single tab page was closed last which means the command to restore or open all the tabs doesn't work. You have the choice on the Firefox set up to Open the pages that were open when you closed. Unfortunately is there are what appear to be 2 Firefox browsers open if the unwanted one is closed last -- all the tabs from the other one do not restore and I can't find them in any kind of history.

Is there anyway to find/restore these tabs? Many were open and some of those to remind me of things I can't now remember were there, so I cannot find the information.

Thank you for ANY help with this.

There are times when my browser doesn't let me close tabs. Whenever that happens, clicking on the X button does nothing and I've noticed that, when I try that, another layer of buttons appears briefly just over the Firefox window resizing and closing buttons; as if a new screen layer of unknown origins is blocking my actions. Closing the window, however, works normally.

This problem happens randomly and I have no idea what's causing, but it's getting annoying. How can I fix that?

Hi! I wanted to reach out to Firefox support about an odd issue that's been happening for the past month or so.

When I go to interact with an idle open window or bring a minimized window to the foreground, I'll randomly get no response and hear an error noise. Firefox never has any associated error messages, and it has yet to show "unresponsive" status when this happens in Windows 10. I'm wondering if anyone else is running into this issue, as it started roughly the same time with both my work and home PCs. Perhaps a recent Windows 10 and/or Firefox update is the cause...?

Hello, Since yesterday I found some problems with my firefox. In random moments top part of application (only menu, bookmarks, not actual website) is flashing. Sometimes as black square sometimes as white and black. It doesn't matter what sites are displayed/opened or which addons/skins are working. Nothing was changed between working OK and starting to do disco on my screen.

Steps I have done when trying to fix it: - Refresh app - Reinstall app (with clearing leftovers) - Removing all addons and using default skin - All drives on PC are up to date (and was before problem started) - Starting app in "help mode" (less flashing but still).

FF ver: 96.0.3 (64x) Windows 10 home with latest updates + Avast

Graphic card is OK, this problem only exist with FF. Using other browser solve problems but well... It is not FF.

Gif below (its that black single flash which is less problematic, but white one really is...)
