Hi, when I use Firefox on this machine, the bookmark sync doesn't work as expected. Instead of maintaining the order of the other devices' bookmark toolbar, it is ordering the non-folder bookmarks before the foldered bookmarks. How can I make it so the bookmark toolbar is the same across all devices? I have tried deleted places.sqlite and backupbookmarks folder.

Hello,

I'm using Firefox 91.4.1esr (64-bit) from Debian repositories on Bullseye. Every time I open Firefox, a window with a greeting message appears ("Say hello to a new Firefox"), and it doesn't matter if, as asked by that window, I choose a theme or not. Is this issue related to my settings? Is this a Debian issue? Is it possible to stop that window from reappearing?

Thanks in advance. And many thanks for making Firefox (I've been using it for so many years I can't recall when I tried it for the first time).

I cannot log in to my Google account with Firefox. I get this message: You appear to have no security keys registered on your account, and won’t be able to sign in. To sign in on this device, ask your admin about registering a new security key or choosing another second step for verification.

I am the administrator of my account on Google Workspace. I have no idea what the problem is. I have MFA turned on and I am able to log in to Google with Chrome and Edge. I don't see an option on the Google Admin security tab to create a new security key. Please advise on a fix. Thanks

I cannot use the PDF Viewer on Firefox 91.5.0esr (64-bit). Instead, I get an incessant popup asking what to do with the file. I've tried:

  1. Selecting `Firefox` as the program to open the PDF. A new tab opens along with the popup.
  2. Selecting `Firefox.exe`. Same deal
  3. Modifying Preferences -> Applications -> "Portable Desktop Format ... (app or binary)" to Firefox. It won't let me - I can choose anything else or any other program, but choosing "Firefox" won't stick
  4. Opening Firefox in "Troubleshoot Mode" (Help -> Troubleshoot Mode) then attempting all of the above. The setting still doesn't stick.
  5. Disabling Hardware Acceleration, as one person cited that.

Every other thread has either cited changing the setting for PDF's to "Open in Firefox" or various names. Fear not, I've tried that, and am still at an impass. Any help beyond that is appreciated :)

So... I was using an older Waterfox version on my Mac (10.14.16), and I wanted to update it, but in order to do that I had to download the latest version, leading to me having two Waterfox browsers at the same time.

I wanted to migrate all my passwords, bookmarks, and other goodies to the newer browser.

One thing lead to another, and I found myself fiddling with the Profiles folder. Then I went on to fiddle with the about:profiles page, and... I accidentally created a new profile, but because I didn't assign any folder to it (didn't know you had to do that), it took the whole Profiles folder as its folder. I then went on to delete it, but I clicked on the delete data option. And then *poof* everything was gone.

Luckily I have a backup from Jan 17, but I think I added some bookmarks in the meantime :/

I did a whole scan with the EaseUS Recovery tool (it took like 5 hours), and I managed to find some bookmark files. They are the same size as they used to be, but I think they are corrupt. I tried importing the newest recovered bookmark file into the new Waterfox, and I got the "Unable to process the backup file" message. I tried converting the .jsonlz4 file to just .json, and then tried opening it... still no luck (I used a software called "Max"). I tried uploading the .jsonlz4 file to jeffersonsher's website, and got this:

File name: bookmarks-2022-01-29_3093_5IkRcH-v-sL8tiFAlFCZuQ==.jsonlz4; Size: 497164; last modified 1/28/2022, 5:15:57 PM (failed JSON parsing: SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected end of data at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data)

I tried converting it to .json and then to .txt, and the text was corrupt. All sorts of symbols and numbers, and above that, the document is fairly short.

Am I out of luck and everything is forever gone?

I am not a smart or advanced user, so I don't know anything about this sort of stuff.

Never had this problem/glitch ever before! When I attempt to create a new listing and attach 'my' photos, it only imports blocks of color (see attached image)! The only thing I can possibly think what might be happening is I went to the Sherwin-Williams website https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW9130-evergreen-fog and clicked on "Explore in Colorsnap Visualizer" - which did not work! (However, it does work in Safari and Opera!) We have tried everything to try to delete whatever we may have imported (a virus???), i.e. went to Firefox prefs/Privacy&Security and cleared/managed data (which continually repopulates so the clearing/managing seems to do nada); downloaded a new Firefox app...nothing stops this behavior in eBay (and don't know if this behavior shows up elsewhere). My eBay works fine in Safari and Opera with this situation.

i opened firefox (v.95) and tried opening up my email and found that all my saved passwords were gone from firefox on my computer. it said i should crate a firefox account to get my logins back so i did and i still could not access any of my web logins. so i searched the help pages. opened up my profile n made a backup of my key3, key4, n loginjson files, downloaded v.91 firefox esr and copied my key3 file into a new profile.

so i still dont have my web logins ... n now i have an outdated version of firefox with none of my bookmarks either. im sick of troubleshooting n my wifi is almost out for the month.

how do i get my web logins and bookmarks back so i dont have to spend hundreds of hours recreating them?

I am on Arch Linux using i3. I have been using Firefox for a while but recently switched from Nautilus to pcmanfm as my file manager. Now Firefox is unable to save any file or do anything else that requires opening the file manager. Running it through the terminal I get:

"Can't open portal file chooser: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.portal.Desktop was not provided by any .service files"

I have xdg-desktop-portal installed and have tried xdg-desktop-portal-{gnome, gtk, and kde}. I have also tried setting widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal to both true and false, neither of which changed anything. Reinstalling Nautilus also doesn't fix it. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

Ever since the update Firefox has been taking at least 10-15 minutes to load. The when it does finally load, I can't always get a webpage to load...at least not for another 10 minutes.

I restarted the computer, cleared the cache and cookies, disabled all extensions...nothing helped. This happened the last time Firefox updated. At the time I just stopped System Mechanic from interfering and it worked easily again. This time it isn't System Mechanic, it doesn't seem to be the extensions....what now?

Linux Firefox not accepted by online sales websites in Zorin OS and Linux Mint

Zorin16-Linux version 99.0 Ubuntu Canonical 1.0, -found in Help/About. Firefox recognition of version below says 91.0. Also have Linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia). Computer 15YO Dell Dimension 900.

I've had no problems with Linux Firefox for many years. I do not use any other Non-Linux OSes. Linux Mint updates Firefox regularly and so do I in that OS. I'm currently in a free version of Zorin which doesn't seem to push out updates, so my Zorin Firefox may be sadly out of date.

At any rate, today in Zorin, when I went to several of the bigger online sales platforms, they refused to accept my Firefox and suggested Chrome, Opera, and Safari; Target suggested Firefox.

Went to Mozilla to try and upgrade, but it didn't offer the Linux browser automatically when it read my computer. I was only offered the Windows browser. This may be because the computer is an old Dell Windows machine that I converted to Linux or it may not. I've never had this happen before.

Yesterday in Linux Mint, in which Firefox is upgraded at least weekly, the same thing happened once with a big online retailer. They said my browser was outdated and unsafe.

What's going on? I'm wondering if Linux OSes are simply not being accepted when the big retailers are doing software upgrades, or is something going on with Firefox?

Good morning,

I ended up having to get a new cell phone. I reinstalled Firefox beta and sync'd everything but none of my collections speared. I uninstalled / reinstalled a couple times but I cannot get my collections to sync. How are these sync'd to my new phone? If it was merely a few I'd start over but the number is more substantial.

Thank you!
