A few months ago google screenshot started to produce black images when attempting to capture google maps. At the time I had another almost identical pc for which screenshot still worked. I'm running Win 10.

Windows screencapture works but firefox screenshot does not.

What happened?

I doubt it's a graphics hardware thing.

I recently set up Firefox Recovery Keys knowing that I was formatting my PC. I am logged into my Firefox account on my laptop and have forgotten my password. Using Firefox Sync and Google Authenticator, I can log into Firefox on my Android.

I am trying to log into Firefox on my PC now, and have forgotten my password, and now none of the Recovery Keys I was given by Firefox are working (I am correct in saying these keys are 10 digits long, and you are given multiple keys when setting up the Recovery Keys?).

I cannot reset my password and lose all of my generated logins. Is there any other way to log into Firefox on desktop, say using google authentication or sync like android?

I use html pages on an internal hard drive that link to pdf documents. For some reason since Version 91.0.2 was installed I can not get the pdf documents to open with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.The new version insist on opening the pdf's in the Firefox web browser. When I click on a pdf link at an external website the files will open in Adobe Acrobat. I used the code below to test the open in Adobe Acrobat execution and it works on the w3School example. When I run it strait from my hard drive the document opens in the Firefox web browser.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <title>Title of the document</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <h1>PDF Example</h1>
    <p>Open a PDF file <a href="datasheet_cube-model-715.pdf">example</a>.</p>
  </body>
</html>

Please let me know if there is a solution. Thank you,

How to identify sources of Firefox memory consumption and if Firefox contributed to Resource Exhaustion?

Firefox 91.1.0esr on Windows 10. Firefox Task Manager (Tools/browser tools/task manager) shows 10 tabs with 10-20 Mbytes each, and about 10 extension with 120-150 kbytes each.

However Resource Monitor shows 95% of used physical memory used, with 13 processes named firefox.exe. "Working Set" memory ranging from 11 Mbytes to 350 Mbytes. "Private" memory ranges from 3 Mbytes to 254 Mbytes. "Commit" memory values range from 30 Mbytes to 1.18 Gbyte.

The "Mem Usage" values of firefox.exe in the output of tasklist.exe vary from 11 Mbytes to 372 Mbytes. Adding them up gives a total memory use of 1.36 Gbytes. (It is unclear to me how the "Memory Usage" values from task list relate to the memory reports in Resource Monitor - maybe the same as "Working set"?)

The system has 32G of physical memory, so 1.5 Gbytes should not be a problem. Yet the system regularly fails with "resource exhaustion" in the system log, and firefox is usually listed as one of the offenders: Event ID 2004 Resource Exhaustion Diagnosis Events "Windows successfully diagnosed a low virtual memory condition. The following programs consumed the most virtual memory: firefox.exe (1532) consumed 931,667,968 bytes, streem.exe (13076) consumed 481,849,344 bytes, and OUTLOOK.EXE (12548) consumed 480,460,800 bytes."

I added the commas in the memory sizes to make it clear that each of these are less than 1G of memory on a 32G system. So why the resource exhaustion? The resource exhaustion

Why is there such a difference in memory use between Firefox's Resource Monitor and Windows Resource monitor? How can I manage and limit the memory consumption of Firefox? Is it related to Resource Exhaustion?

I Am on desktop:

i5 9600KF (high performance mode) 16GB 3200mhz ram NVME... Windows 10 Pro x64 Firefox last stable

When I open Firefox tabs aren't loaded all at the same time, but they are suspended. So after that: when I switch between 6 tabs quickly - they start to open at the same time. And CPU usage skyrockets to 100% LOL! Given I Am on high end PC - this is joke! I was using chrome and had hundreds of tabs and Chrome doesn't even suspend them by default. They open all at the same time I think!

So there is something wrong! I tried troubleshooting mode and it was the same problem!

Thanks for help!

Hi There, I have an issue searching bookmarks by tag. Even if I tag a bookmark with multiple tags (EG "region, green") when I in address bar a use "green" nothing comes out, only if I use "regione" (the first tag). I found this post https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1302659 and if I use "+ green" it works, I get all the bookmarks with "green" tag back.

Any idea on what's going on?

Cheers.

I AM using VPN and I found Firefox is leaking DNS, as it doesn't happen in another browser. I read it is caused by automatic updates: https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/2e20ni/firefox_dns_leak/ I tried to disable automatic updates by flipping this value: "app.update.auto" in about:config to false. But it did not help.

Can you please help me to fix this, I don't know what it's causing it...

Hi,

My hard drive crashed and I was able to recover the files. I need to recover my Firefox history file. I know it is stored in the profiles folder as places.sqlite. What I need to do is open the file so I can see the history and recover the needed data.

I'm working from a data recovery disk (the source computer is still down). Is there a way to open the file and see it in Firefox? Or, is there a way to export the data into a format that can be read by Excel?

Thanks very much for your help!
