Somehow, Firefox browser appears to have been hijacked by something called "mydomainadvisor". When I type a web address into Firefox, I am taken to a "file not found" page with a different address. Tried deleting browsing history, temp internet files and any file that includes that word, but no change. Seached for any files with that name on my computer and even done sys restore, but its still there. AVG etc do not find it. Any suggestions?

When I go to a site that contains Flash content, it says "A plugin is needed to display this content" and there is a link to install the plugin. Additionally, there is a message at the top of the page that says "Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" with an option to "Install Missing Plugins." I click the link to install the missing plugin, and a dialog box pops up that says "The following plugins are available:" and lists "Adobe Flash Player 11.0.1.152" with a check box next to it. The box is checked, and I click "Next" to install. It goes through the motions, and then tells me that "No plugins were installed." There is a link to manually install the plugin, which takes me to Adobe's Flash download page. I unchecked the box to pair McAfee Security with the download, and downloaded the latest version of Flash (to be honest, I've actually downloaded this exact same version about 10 times today). The dialog box pops up, I save the file, and once it has downloaded, I open the containing folder (my downloads folder). I then close all programs (including Firefox) except for the Windows Explorer folder that I'm going to run the installer from. I double-click on the Flash installer to run the installation. The installation process completes, the installer tells me that the download is successful, and my browser opens back up with an "Installation Successful" message from the Adobe website. Yay! My installation is successful... Orrrrrr not. Navigating back to the page with the Flash media - still have a message saying I need the plugin. Attempt to download plugin again...no dice.

THEN, I go to "Manage my add-ons" thinking maybe I need to enable the plugin. There is no Flash (or Shockwave) plugin listed on any of the menus - it's like it doesn't exist.

I downloaded the latest version of Java because I read somewhere that Flash requires Java to work; I installed the "Add-On Compatibility Reporter" so I could force Java to be enabled. It made no difference whatsoever, as best I can tell.

I also went to Adobe's page where you can see what version of Flash you're running (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) and it doesn't even show that I have Flash installed. In Internet Explorer, it does show that I have Flash installed, but it's the previous version (but that is likely due to the fact that I downloaded Flash from Mozilla, not IE, and they use different modes in each browser - so an update that you download from one browser does not necessarily apply to the other browser).

So in summary: I do not know what on earth is wrong here, but I am about as frustrated as I have ever been in my life. I don't know why the Adobe Flash installation is saying it is successful (is it lying to me??), but there is no plugin showing up in my Manage Add-Ons menu, and I have googled every possible combination of the content in this post and have not found a solution that works yet.

I get so tired to this.

I just installed FireFox 8.0.1 and it wiped out my ability to open MHT files. I HATE WASTING DO MUCH TIME WITH THIS.

I downloaded Word Viewer 2007 and installed that but it doesn't work either. All I get are some of the icons on the page.

HOW CAN I OPEN MHT FILES IN FIREFIX 8.0.1

Yesterday, this was not a problem. I had an earlier version of Firefox 8 installed. I think I have solved this problem before but don't remember how I didi it.

Right now I have a lot of work to do and I do not like screwing around with this problem.

First of all I should point out that I keep Firefox always updated as soon as a new version appears.

Now, a couple of months ago Firefox was able to save complete web pages as a single .htm file (including images and styles). Proof of that is that I accomplished it then. However now, after some updates to Firefox (sorry, but I can't pinpoint exactly which of them might've been the one which messed this up for me), while trying exactly the same thing on the same website it is not possible anymore. What happens is that now if choose the option "Save Web, only as HTML" (which I belive is the one I used to select before) it will not save the images and styles of the web page, only the basic text and main page anchors whereas before it did save everything!

I still have the older .htm files I saved before (I can provide them to you) and they are still working correctly on any PC (I've tested them), so this means it is not an .htm file using the cache on my PC to render the images from links on the file.

I'm aware that I can select the "Full page" option but it creates a folder which I don't want, so I'd rather have the old option to export the web page as a single and correctly formatted file that includes the images!

Thanks in advance!

I do not like to accumulate 3rd party cookies and would simply not check the Accept 3rd Party Cookies box in Preferences. BUT in order to use my bank's web page I have to accept 3rd party cookies from a separate site that manages some of their transactions (like paying bills). This means I have to accept 3rd party cookies and then delete them by hand OR I have to check the accept box each time I use the bank's website and then uncheck it when I am done.

I have recently installed a security certificate on my site. I tried various ssl checkers and the certificate seems to be fine. Firefox, however, does not like it and displays a warning page that says:

www.academi.pl uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is not trusted.

(Error code: sec_error_untrusted_issuer)

This happens on Windows, Mac and Linux machines in my office. I have also received a number of reports from site users who experience the same problem. It seems that the problem did not occur in firefox 7.x, but I have yet to verify it properly.

Does anyone knows a solution to that? I tried deleting certificates manually in Preferences, but it did not help.

I seem unable to adapt the firefox configuration to make it call an external graphics-viewer for jpeg2000 files. More exactly, I cannot even locate any configuration option which permitted me to name such an external program.

Those mime-type settings available, do not cover jpeg2000 and there appears to be no way to add something. The only option I have right now, is to save each and every jpeg2000 image, that I am interested in and call the viewer application explicitly.

The plug-ins, which were once available stopped working and there is no other working solution to be found anywhere.

No matter how this question is dealt and irrespective of your certainly helpful advice, I will not call this situation anywhere near "acceptable". I love free software and I love firefox. But I do not stop to give it a kick in the ?³$@#·µ, when I feel like it.
