I am writing a program that requires me to detect when a shift key is pressed and do something. Something like

window.addEventListener('keydown', event => console.log(event), false); // expect to see an event logged to console when pushing the "shift" key

This works great on all browsers except Firefox. "alt" and "fn" keys are also not able to be detected on Firefox. Is there some sort of advanced security settings I can disable to let me capture these things?

Thanks in advance.

When I go to firefox preferences and then go to "search," I try to click on the arrow below "default search engine" but nothing comes up. When I try to search in the address bar, it takes me to websites named after the first word I typed. When I tried searching in a separate tool bar, I'd type something, hit enter, and nothing would happen. Please help, this is very annoying because whenever I want to search something I have to type google and then type my question in on the actual google website.

Mac OS 10.10.2 Firefox 78.9

Problem: When I go back from full screen mode, the half top of tabs(more like the 2/3 part to the tab) becomes not clickable. Only way to solve it is just to restart the browser.

There is another thing that could provide a bit more info. No matter whether I've ever made it full screen or not, the 2/3 top area of the tabs will never turn grey when I put my mouse on it.

No add-ons and themes installed. Tried safe mode and it didn't works.

The same bug exists on the other Mac, which runs an older version of firefox.

Hello together,

when implementing canvas graphics with 2D context, I notified that the latest FF 87.0 on windows is much slower than chrome/edge/opera on windows and also much slower as safari on mac. I drilled into detail and detected that it was caused when drawing polygons with color gradient (see attached image). Means that using canvascontext.createLinearGradient() instead of flat colors makes it slow. On the other hand using flat colors is perfectly fast.

I wondered, because I had much better experience with FF and installed an earlier version (78.9.0esr) on the same windows workstation and the problem was gone. Seams, that some change made the newer FF slower with this type of graphic..

CPU is i7 8650U 1.90 - 2.11 GHZ, OS is Windows 10 version 20H2

But the effect is the same on all windows workstations I tested. Would be happy to see, that I can use FF again with these type of graphic apps.

I have a virtual w10x64 machine which I need to play old flash content on a specific (trusted) website which is the only one allowed in mms.cfg and which does not use https. With the latest update to 78.9 FF does not open the flash content and the pages anymore. So I reverted to 78.8 but the auto-update always intercepts.

How can I disable the auto-updates for good? Is there possibly a policy for this?

I think the FF programmers need better imagination on specific scenarios before they impose so called "security features" on the users and break their processes.

Hello,

I used my firefox account to restore my browsing history after I switched to a new hard drive. I compared the contents of places.sqlite from before and after the switch. (I can do this because I made a backup of the old places.sqlite.) And I noticed that many entries of moz_historyvisits are missing in the new database. I made a graph about this, in which I am using pythons sqlite3 library to inspect the databases moz_historyvisits.visit_date column. For every visit_date I checked if it is still present in the new database or if it got lost. The pattern seems highly irregular.

Does firefox intend to maintain a complete history? By which criteria did individual history entries get lost? Is there a way to restore a complete version of my browser history from my account?

Any help is appreciated.

When I type in ANY URL, I want exactly that to be loaded. And not anything else.

When I type in mozilla.rog into the address bar, I want firefox to fetch the page mozilla.rog. I want firefox to try, and if it does not exist, I demand to be notified that it does not exist. With an error message. URL not found. Error 404.

But instead, Firefox silently changes mozilla.rog to mozilla.org (and probably any page e.g. from .rog to .org, and from .ocm to .com , and the like) without my permission, and loads this other page I did not type in.

I do NOT and NEVER allow ANY program to alter my commands without notifying me.

so... which about:config setting disables this autocorrection-behavior?

In the new version of the Developer Edition the options "close tabs to the right" and "close other tabs" are in a sub-menu named "Close Multiple Tabs" inside the context menu. Is there's a way to change this so that they will appear directly in the main context menu? I use "close tabs to the right" often and I find this very annoying.

Hello,

It's been 3 days since I can no longer play any video since Firefox Developer Edition. I added absolutely nothing and it happened suddenly. When I play a video, I hear the sound but the video loads endlessly. Same with the default HTML reader in Firefox. I tried to go to preferences and uncheck the graphics acceleration, to refresh Firefox, to reinstall it but nothing works! Even in private browsing without any extension, it does not work! I tried from another browser but it works without problems.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I'm getting a MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_REQUIRED_TLS_FEATURE_MISSING error on my website cubox.dev Using Firefox Developer Edition.

Nginx is configured to ocsp response, and disabling this flag in the advanced settings in Firefox fixes this issue, but I can't ask everyone to do that. SSLLabs are indicating that ocsp stapling is working fine: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=imonia.fr&s=89.163.242.17&hideResults=on

Could someone tell me why this is an issue? Is there a problem with the way my server is stapling my responses? You can test against my server: cubox.dev

Thanks
