On another user's account, cannot go back to earlier FF version, profile files missing. Cannot start _any_ revision, old or current (using OSX Sierra on that user & different FF versions - the shared data you see her is NOT the same ) details here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1356226

I don't see the profiles.ini and installs.ini files within the Profiles folder. I see the general format from looking at good ones in my own Profile.

Don't understand why some are "locked."

How do I re-create them using the existing Profile names, and how do I denote which to startup using (the default folder?) Can't find any Help files to explain.

This is driving me mad, we are using the same physical computer because mine broke, so I start it up off an external drive containing my drive, then I have to shut down & restart on the internal drive to work on it, but then I don't have access to my saved files or to post on the forum.

Hi.

We have just begun to test Firefox 91esr for an anticipated rollout in October 2021. That's probably going to be optimistic. I'm trying to revert the toolbar and browser style to be an exact replica of the attached image (theme not withstanding).

We surveyed around 250 users and only 2 like the new FF91 toolbar and tabs. So got to go with the 99.9% of people. The userChrome.css file I am using is here: https://pastebin.com/8SFM3i1k

The userContent.css is:

/* Remove color effect filter on autofilled fields */

-moz-autofill {filter: unset !important;}

/* Remove filter on all fields */ input {filter: unset !important;}

I'm getting confused with the naming. We have Photon and is it now Proton? And what I'm trying to get back to is Australis?

Enabled style sheets and I can get the theme working. But when I add the chrome folder and it's contents instead of getting what you see on the attached image I get the default style with the ugly square tabs - the default in v78

I also can't seem to stretch the toolbar vertically. It's too damned compact.

The addons I want to use include new tab homepage, which seems to install but doesn't show in the list of add-ons and doesn't work. Perhaps I should approach the author for that issue.

The reload in the address bar works in 78.13, but in 91 it puts the reload button the on the far right... Another add-on problem for the author.

How do I remove the favorites icon from the address bar?

On webpages there is a settings cog in the top right corner. I'd also like to remove that.

I'm a PC builder, not a coder, so the css is provided by the generosity of other people.

thanks

Hey, my website "www.kosmetikstuebchen-nicole.de" is not correctly displaying in Firefox Browser. In Google Chrome, Opera and Safari there is no problem. You can see the problem on the screenshot. I still ask my provider "Host Europe" if they are able to explain, why during using the Firefox Browser the website is not correct. They just told me, that maybe there might be a problem with the accessability view, but they were not able to solve the problem! Is there anybody who can help me to solve that problem? Thanks a lot! Hello! Something in my Firefox installation seems to be making several Google network (google.com / forcesafesearch.google.com / www.youtube-nocookie.com / m.youtube.com, and a couple of others) calls shortly after launch. I have a DNS sinkhole, so that is how I can see.

I have a few reputable extensions (or should be, from EFF, Firefox itself, or Ublock Origin), but it also happens in safe mode. I went through a good chunk of this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections and still the calls occur

I am on Windows 10, with FF v93.

Thanks very much!

Recently, I've been unable to view paid for video, for example on Netflix. I get the following error message:

The WidevineCdm Plugin has crashed. FATAL Clpp-Error [Category 6 - Code 6002]: {"browserError":""}

I'm using a macOS 10.95 and, says Firefox,:

"Note: The current version of Google Widevine is no longer compatible with older macOS versions such as OS X 10.9 and 10.10. Only macOS versions 10.11 and above are supported."

So my question, since it seems my mac is no longer compatible with Widevine, is whether there a way for me to watch video on Firefox? Perhaps with another plugin? Or no plugin? Perhaps this is an issue to take up with Widevine?

Thanks in advance.

Hello together,

when implementing canvas graphics with 2D context, I notified that the latest FF 87.0 on windows is much slower than chrome/edge/opera on windows and also much slower as safari on mac. I drilled into detail and detected that it was caused when drawing polygons with color gradient (see attached image). Means that using canvascontext.createLinearGradient() instead of flat colors makes it slow. On the other hand using flat colors is perfectly fast.

I wondered, because I had much better experience with FF and installed an earlier version (78.9.0esr) on the same windows workstation and the problem was gone. Seams, that some change made the newer FF slower with this type of graphic..

CPU is i7 8650U 1.90 - 2.11 GHZ, OS is Windows 10 version 20H2

But the effect is the same on all windows workstations I tested. Would be happy to see, that I can use FF again with these type of graphic apps.

I use 3 profiles (work, private and media) side by side. When I open external links I have no control over which profile will open the link. The link is opened right away (so no profile manager interference) in a random profile. I do want it to open right away, but ideally would like to easily set a priority order for profiles to open the external links without having to restart the profiles.

Playing youtube video on Firefox has become a hazard. The power consumption sharply rises whenever a video is plying AND (specifically) when the this youtube tab is the one open (current). As soon as I move to another tab and let the video continue playing this problem disappears and resource consumption looks normal. Then if I go back to the youtube tab then it spikes again sharply.

It has been like this for a week or couple of days now.

Toolbar folders -> drop down orientation problem -> screen limit not recognised

Hello:

Quite a few iterations of Firefox ago (cannot recall which), the orientation of the drop down menu listing the bookmarks inside any folder in the toolbar was either towards the 'left' or towards the 'right', depending of the amount of screen real estate available to the right side of the screen where it was opened.

If the listing could not be properly seen by opening the drop down menu towards the 'right', it would be opened towards the 'left'.

This worked perfectly well with my three screen setup, with Firefox in a window in the centre screen. ie: Firefox knew it was inside a three screen wide setup and in the centre screen, so it also "knew" that the right edge of the centre screen was the limit for available screen real estate.

At some time this stopped working in the described manner.

It seems that Firefox now ignores the right edge of the centre screen and as a result the drop down menu for any folder in the toolbar opens to the 'right' and invades the right screen. (see attached screen capture)

If Firefox is opened in a window inside the right screen, it proeprly recognises the right edge of the screen as the limit and acts accordingly.

This is quite a problem for me: I make intensive use of the toolbar with bookmarks inside folders and subfolders and this heavily affects my everyday work.

Is there a way to get back to how it used to be? ie: Firefox using the right edge of the screen it is opened in as the limit to open a drop down menu.

Thanks in advance,

S.

It would seem that Mozilla has not yet created an official portable mode for Firefox(Seriously, after all these years?!?). It needs one in a bad way.

Now when I say portable mode what I mean is that the Firefox EXE runs from the folder it's in, using profiles that generated and exist in that same folder and NOT in the user profile. This functionality is needed not just for easy portability, but also for easy migrations from one system to another or one installation of OS to another.

While the portability mode should be exclusive to the platform FireFox is being used on(IE Windows vs Linux, etc), it should be seamless transition otherwise.

Before anyone chimes in and says this is not possible, please don't waste your time. Forks of FF have been doing so nearly effortlessly for more than a decade while maintaining perfectly functionally and security with the same usability.

So Devs, can you please make this happen? We the public would ever so grateful.

Additionally, can we get some fine grained controls over the appearance of UI elements?

This double spacing nonsense is irritating.

Then there is the Extension Icons labels. They've been gone for a while and they need to return, or at least an option to enable them if we wish.

Next we have the "Home page and new windows" option in settings. Those two options should not be combined. When I open a new instance of FF, I would like to open a blank page. I don't want any navigation happening until I click something or type in an address. I expect FF to sit and wait for my input. Then when I click the "Home" icon button does it go to my define home page.

Next problem we have is the auto update feature. This seems to have become an incredibly nasty feature and behavior. For example, I recently updated to Windows 11. After migrating my previous install of FF to it, it swiftly and without ANY warning or user prompt at all updated itself from 78.15.0esr to 91.3. This was NOT desired So how about to folks show respect to us users by ASKING if we want to upgrade! Had a prompt appeared I would have swiftly canceled. Updates should ALWAYS be at the choice and involvement of the user, not at your whim. I had to spend 40minutes manually backtracking and recopying, which was unpleasant.

Please note that while my above statements have had some negativity to them, I am a ardent supporter of Mozilla and will continue to be. These above points are that of increasing frustration. I am of the school of thought that we the users should have complete and fine-grain controls over every aspect of how our browser operates, whether it be UI elements or nitty-gritty functionality.

I look forward to responses by members of the dev team.

Thank You, Lex

Very similar to posts in previous years that are archived and largely unanswered or not up-to-date.

I opened up my a Firefox session to find out I was logged out of sync and when I logged back in all my passwords where erased.

This has been stable for the last 10 months and Firefox has provided a reliable password archive with nice syncing features. However, this is a deal breaker, since I cannot loose the login credentials randomly.

No updates. No conscious logging out. No disregarding warnings etc.

Anyway to revert or retrieve?

We are receiving this message from Ebay when attempting to list a product (see below). Any suggestions how to work around it please? Thank you.

Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to scgi.ebay.co.uk because this website requires a secure connection.

What can you do about it?

scgi.ebay.co.uk has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it. You can notify the website’s administrator about the problem.
