I'm using Xubuntu 20.04, yesterday Firefox was updated to version 89 and it is completely unusable. The issues are many: the colors are washed out, the text is blurry, and the window is now semi-transparent (I can see the desktop). The best way to describe it is with a screenshot, I'm attaching one for v89 (horrible) and one for the v75 (perfect), to which I have reverted and I'm using now. As you can see, v89 is almost unusable, with some pages completely impossible to read. I found a couple of pages describing similar problems, all referring to this page, but that solution had no effect whatsoever for me. I found also someone suggesting to disable proton, also ineffective (sorry, I forgot to copy the link.)

It's so frustrating that the keyboard shortcut for closing tabs is right beside the one to quit Firefox. I've lost countless hours because of this, and it's so easy to accidentally do. Is there a way to keep this from happening? A simple "Are you sure" confirmation dialog would be great, or I really like the Chrome "hold command-Q" to exit feature. This seemingly simple function is proving extremely difficult to accomplish.

Yes, I'm aware of session restore, but (1) It does not preserve my window arrangement. I use multiple desktops for various tasks, and they each have related browser windows. (2) I need to see webpages exactly as they were when I opened them. Sessions expire, dynamic pages are refreshed, content is removed etc. That is all lost.

I do not want to disable session restore completely. It can still be useful. But, I do not want to trigger session restore automatically every time. Manual activation is ideal.

regarding: "browser.tabs.warnOnClose" I do not want a warning for closing multiple tabs. I often have many windows open and that warning gets annoying. It also doesn't prevent me from accidentally quitting when I only have one tab open.

I tried setting browser.warnOnQuit to true, but it's ignored.

I simply want a confirmation when I use the keyboard shortcut to QUIT. That's it. No side effects. Can Firefox do this?

I'm trying to figure out what on earth is wrong with this software. After installing the latest version, unbeknownst to me, after an hour or two of usage the browser fails to connect to any website, at all. Upon closing and re-opening the browser, I'm prompted that "you've launched an older version of Firefox" my bookmarks and history is corrupted, I need to create a new profile. Once the browser actually opens, I check the version, it's now reverted back to 87 where, it begins this absurd cycle all over again, downloading and installing 88.01.

What is this, only compatible with 20h2? My system does not yet have this.

In order to stop this madness. I've removed it, installed v74, threw a policy.json file together to block this from updating itself.

I just loaded your new Alias email into my Windows computer and now I the email to log into my Gmail will not show or open. How do I turn off my current email from being taken over by your software?

Should I delete the program all together?

Is there a way to tell the software which sites to keep?

This software has not been thoroughly tested out. Take it off and go back to the drawing board.

Thanks,

Bill ... (I don't think I will actually be able to read your response. So, send a text to ...)
