cant update to latest version, administrator has disabled auto updates. But no option to manually update and no option to turn on auto updates either. . So apparently firefox isn't compatible with netflix anymore either due to no update options... It looks like chrome is my only option now.

Will it be OK to upgrade my Firefox browser from Rel 72 to latest Rel 100 in one step ? OS is Mac OS X Monterrey 12.3..1 Or should I do 1 or more intermediate upgrades to be safe ?

FWIW, I've had enough problems upgrading from OSx Mojave to Monterrey. I am leery of the huge jump from FF 72 to 100.

All advice most welcome.

When I updated from an old version of Firefox it erased all my bookmarks and there is nothing in 'Options' that allows you to designate current page as your opening page. And their incessant reminder to update is maddening! That's what got me into this predicament in the first place. I finally succumbed and I, like so many others are ever so sorry I did. I tried many searches to try to reinstall an older version of Firefox but all failed. They just end up reloading the updated version before you can open it. It sucks! If I can't load an older version like Firefox 71 I might as well get a new browser since I'm going to have to spend hours replacing my bookmarks and other stuff erased by the update. I won't use Firefox anymore and I won't use Google Chrome. I also noticed in other Firefox Support questions that people who were having problems with Firefox were asking for suggestions for alternatives to Firefox and nobody seemed to want to suggest any but I'll ask anyway. I just want a simple light weight browser that doesn't have all the whistles and bells that take up so much memory and I wouldn't use anyway. I don't do games and I don't do social media. After having used Firefox for many years I feel they have failed me leaving me with only 2 choices of either using their new version which I'm unlikely do or finding an alternative browser which I probably will. I would like some suggestions on alternative web browsers with user's experiences. And I'm using Windows 7. I have Windows 10 in another computer but found it to much too intense so I don't use it.

Currently running Firefox 72.0.2 on Windows 7 Desktop PC. Believe these problems were caused by the ‘Enhanced Tracking Protection’ (ETP) feature, but no matter what remedy I follow on FF support, I cannot cure the problem. (1) Problem seem to be common to both Ancestry & Facebook websites & relates to viewing messages which use a (pop-up/fly-out?) window. Ancestry’s support solution was to install chrome & so far Facebook support has not responded. I can work around this by using my chrome laptop to read & reply to messages on both websites, but this is a real pain since all this worked fine on FF before.

(2) AVG has the same problem populating (pop-up/fly-out?) window for ‘performance issues’. Obviously I cannot use another PC or laptop to check this out, so I am stuck.

All suggestions welcomed, but note I am a novice at all this, so please be gentle!! Cheers, Mickey. P.S. I have more info, but this is all a bit overwhelming & so I won't add it at moment

Hi, I accidentally allowed notifications (while using Firefox) from a particular web site only to find out that now I get numerous notifications regarding phony virus alerts, etc. I am unable to block the notifications.

I searched the web for how to block a notification from a web site, but have not come up with any solutions.

In particular, I went to about:preferences > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Notifications. The web site is set to Block, but still the unwanted notifications continue. Perhaps the notifications are coming from a different web site that seems to be hidden?

I also quit Firefox and restarted Firefox, but the notifications continue. I also restarted my Macbook Pro, but that didn’t help either.

Here is the link I originally clicked on, but I obviously wouldn’t want anyone to click on it:

I would be so grateful if anyone has a solution!
