In customization I added AVI to the list to make that file type open in VLC video player. The process was when I downloaded an AVI file it popped up a dialog which offered me an "always do this" option that put the file type into that list.

I am trying to do something similar for MP3 and MP4, but am not able to prevent them from opening and running in Firefox. If I left click, the video downloads and runs. If I right click, there is no "download" option on the menu. In the customization page there is no way to add file types to the list, as the search box above the list appears to be nonfunctional.

There was an article from some years ago to change the "media.windows-media-foundation" in "about:config" from true to false, but that configuration does not appear to exist in my Firefox version (69.0.3 64 bit).

So, the question: how can I get MP4 videos to play in an external player?

When I tried to backup my firefox appdata from synctoy, it kept throwing an error on logins.json, which is required to copy my passwords over.

I tried to manually copy the file, and it threw an error saying I don't have permissions. I checked permissions, I do have permissions. Mozilla somehow hard coded the file with some kind of superlock, and I need to find a way to get past it so I can backup firefox. I'm kinda pissed because now my data is at risk on a computer that is failing and I have to sit here and wait for a damn answer while my laptop motherboard dies a little more each day.

With the latest version of Firefox (69.0) I am unable to choose 'Always Enable' for Adobe Flash Player. This is not helpful especially on my own website - www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk which I run.

The Adobe content is world city times and an image of the moon's phase. I visit my weather site each day and have to enable Flash every time. Why can't you allow the user to make the decision themselves how long they wish to enable Flash for? How about a list of sites it can be enabled permanently for? That way the user can make their own choice.

I've set PDF's to open in Options, Applications. I've checked it. Yet each time I click, even the same file!, it asks me how I want to deal with this PDF. Is Firefox allergic to PDF's? What is the big deal? Why can't this browser seem to remember anything? I have this problem in other areas of Firefox. Then I selected my PDF reader to open it and checked it to remember. Of course it asked me the very same thing over and over.

For as long as I can remember, all my new tabs opened into a Google search window. But now, they open into a Search Mozilla Support window. That's not what I want -- I want to restore the Google search window.

I've checked the forums, and followed the advice on changing this: Settings > Search > One-Click Search Engines.

That doesn't work for me, because Mozilla Support is selected as my search engine, and the Restore Default Search Engines button is greyed out. When I click the tab for Find More Search Engines, there's no sign of Google.

Does Mozilla hate Google?

I'm using Firefox 69.0.2 on a 2017 iMac running OS Mojave, 10.14.5.

Thanks for any help!

I've asked on Reddit but I haven't found a fix for this yet so I'm asking here. In the settings for Firefox it says that my browser is being managed by your organization. But it has no mention of any settings being restricted, and when I clicked the notification to check the policy the page was entirely empty. I also checked the Firefox program folder and there wasn't any sign of an Autoconfic file that I could notice. One user mentioned on Reddit that this issue is often caused by antivirus companies forcefully inserting their own SSL certs to intercept your encrypted traffic, he then suggested turning off "web scanning" but my antivirus (which I only use Malwarebytes and Windows Defender) already had them disabled. After doing some research on my own I found out that the antivirus Avast used to cause this issue, and I had uninstalled Avast a while back, so I figured that the reason that the policy wasn't there was because Avast was uninstalled, but, I never saw this notification before today. So if anybody can help me pinpoint what this is and how remove it would be much appreciated. But all I really want to know if is this is something that I should be worried about or is it simply a bug. Also one other question is why the top sites and search bar is really close to the address bar after the latest update. Is this just a design change? Or is this something I need to be concerned about? Because I didn't notice this on Firefox on my laptop. Thanks in advance.

But this new profile doesn't have a folder called "chrome", which my other profile folder (the one i've been using since I got this laptop a year ago) does. The reason I want to access the chrome folder is because I want to tweak UserChrome.css.

I noticed that the title bar is present and opened the 'customise' page. "Title bar" is unchecked. I have tried checking and unchecking it using this and other system themes and have also tried that from another system. In about:config the setting "browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar" is true. I have long had css code which places the tab bar below the location bar. Above the location bar I have the menu bar which, in addition to the classic menu, has toolbar buttons and the "bookmarks toolbar". Bookmarks Toolbar is not checked in the list. That has been my setup for years; the current profile is over a year old and previously had no title bar. Some months ago I showed the title bar to facilitate moving buttons on the menu bar then disabled it. I am attaching images.

If you look at the attached image you can easily see what my problem is. Because I can't make exceptions for various websites those websites will remain broken unless I change the Global settings for cookies... which makes the Exceptions - Content Blocking UI redundant.

Oh I guess I should throw in a question. Is there a way to manually add websites to the exception list? Through some convoluted user unfriendly configuration file or some such?

When I visit Google Maps I get a general view of where I am at the city level. However, for quite some time, clicking on the locator dot gives the message "Google Maps does not have permission to use your location."

If I check my location settings using hamburger > preferences > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Location, I see a handful of websites in a dropdown list (none of them are Google Maps), with no way of adding others. The box for "Block new requests . . ." is NOT checked.

I don't see any other location-blocking settings.

Some websites will prompt me to allow location access; allowing it never adds the site to my whitelist. Sometimes I just keep getting prompted to allow access in a loop.

I am using Firefox Quantum 69.0.2 on OSX.

Extension-wise, I am using DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, but disabling it does not fix the problem.

I used to get my PDF bank statements with no problem. Recently I go into the bank's site, ask for the statement, and instead of seeing the actual statement I see a screen like the one in the attached image. I called the bank and they said it was an issue with the new version of Firefox, and I was able to access the statements using the Edge browser. How can I fix this in Firefox? I use Win 10 64 bit.

My question says it all. I only want to add a single keyboard shortcut. I haven't found an extension that allows me to point to the Eyedropper and would prefer not to use one anyway.

So the main question is how to add a keyboard shortcut for the Eyedropper, with a more general question of how to add or customize keyboard shortcuts in general without extensions.

I constantly have to go over login procedures again and again, like Gmail, Whatsapp Web or Facebook, after restarting my browser or laptop. I'm also on a news site, www.telegraaf.nl, which shows me the same push notification in every tab I open. This because I open every article I want to read in a new tab, where every tab I always start with dismissing the push notification.

How can I make sure that I stay logged in for my favorite sites and apps. And that I get rid of these push notifications on every tab? It probably has something to do with cookie settings, but I've tried every possible option and settings from the options menu and at this point I'm clueless.
