It's good to have those built-in shortcuts, but it's stupid you can't modify them. When I use this website I can't input the division sign by pressing / on the keypad because it's the shortcut for Quick Find. I guess this is because the place to input is not a normal text box like in WolframAlpha , but part of the whole webpage(?). Add the function to customise shortcuts is much easier than let Firefox recognise and deal with this situation, I think. In fact, most software supports customising shortcuts, so I'm surprised to find there's no way for Firefox to do that.

I am facing the problem to open the sites. When I used the network, it show the following error:

Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at www.google.com.

If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

   Try again later.
   Check your network connection.
   If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

Please let me know your suggestion and comments.

I'm running Firefox 68.9.0 ESR, and it keeps whining about an update being available. I don't care, because every time I update, one of the extensions I use every day is disabled without my permission. How do I get firefox to shut up about it once and for all? In other words, where is the "do not check for updates" command hidden, or, how else can I shut this thing up? I have, in the past, liked firefox, but it has, over the last few years, supported less and less of features I use daily, at a minimum, many times/day for most.

So how do I shut these annoying alerts about an update I have NO intention of installing off? "You can't" is not a valid answer. Nor is "just upgrade and lose half of the stuff (again) that you use all the time." Sorry if I sound angry, but these constant annoyances (and Thunderbird is doing the same---so same question for it here) are really getting on my nerves.

I have Firefox almost working the way it should. Still can't click in a bookmark toolbar bookmark and then click on "add bookmark here" like I could. That was one of those I used about 10--30 times per day, depending on what I was working on.

Thanks.

I was running just "regular" Firefox on my Windows laptop. Yesterday my help desk had me upgrade to Firefox Extended Support Release to install a corporate email security certificate. I did not know when I installed this version of Firefox that it would overwrite my existing browser, and when it did, I lost all of my add-ins, extensions, bookmarks, etc. I'm hoping to be able to restore my old profile with all of the existing data I had. If I have to "downgrade" to regular Firefox I think that's fine since I just needed the ESR to install the security cert and that's complete now.

I looked on the about:profiles page and I have two other profiles, default and june19 (I presume the latter is from June 2019?), but I don't know how to determine which one is the preferred one. When I clicked Launch profile in new browser, it instructed me to create a new profile to protect my information and I hesitated to do that because I'm trying to restore an old profile, not create a new one. In case you can't tell, I'm not an advanced software user, so give instructions like you would to a 5-year-old or your grandma... lol. Thanks in advance!

I would like to make a bookmark file with all the tabs in all the open windows, organised by window. The final goal is to be able to open all Firefox windows with all their respective tabs in another browser, like Vivaldi; alternatively, to time stamp various such bookmark files, and open all the window with all their tabs I had open in Firefox, say, 8 months ago. Please have a look at the screenshot attached: it seems that the menu button Bookmarks → Bookmarks All Tabs makes bookmarks only of the tabs of the upper-most window. Thank you for any help.

The following code work in Firefox v54, but stopped working on Firefox v68.4.1 (possibly earlier version as well).

index.html: <body>

<object type="image/svg+xml" data="test.svg", id="test_svg_id">

<script type="text/javascript" src="test.js"></script>

javascript: function init() {

 console.log("init()");

// Get the overall SVG defined in the Index HMTL page var svg_object = document.getElementById("test_svg_id");

// Get the SVG document inside the Object tag var svg_document = svg_object.contentDocument; }

Any idea why contentDocument is always null?

I have a site created through wordpress platform. I have used page jump (anchor) to redirect one of my links into a specific section from another page. I am using Multi-Account Containers, and am unclear on how it interacts with the other cookie and storage management features of the browser. If I clear cookies from Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data, does that clear all cookies in all containers, or just in "No Container"? Is there a way to delete/manage cookies within just a single container? Is there a way to delete/manage cookies for just "No Container"? Is there a plugin to help with this, or a manual means of editing cookies (editing text file or sqlite database)?

I followed the directions on a security site to protect online communication. It suggested one or more setting, which resulted in Firefox opening in a fixed size window by default. I would like to revert it back so that Firefox opens in full screen, but can't remember which settings were altered. Any suggestions on how to revert to full screen by default? Thanks in advance.

Using Firefox 68.12.0ESR. I know 78 is available, I just haven't had the time to test it yet. I delete cookies when I exit Firefox. I want to keep some for sites that I trust, such as this site. I've added exceptions to Allow these trusted sites as documented on a thread somewhere else, but it doesn't work. All cookies are deleted.

Is it possible to keep cookies only for a select group of sites. eg. support.mozilla.com, tomshardware.com, mydigitallife.net, speedtest.net and so on.

Thank you.
