I switched to firefox because Chrome is clunky, Edge is Edge and Opera doesn't support Truekey. So far I've liked everything, but I've had one real bad problem. I always use icon only bookmarks, because I don't like the text there. I've had the problem of the site not getting thumbnails for many sites, and it doesn't seem like there is any way to upload them. I'd really like it if there was a way to do this. Thanks.

Firefox starts downloading files immediately before confirming download dialog. In other words when you trigger a download firefox automatically starts the download process even if you do not select open or save from the pop-up dialog window. This behavior can be observed within Developer tools > network, or through system network statistics, or when you actually start the download it starts from a nonzero file size value.

Is it possible to disable this 'auto download in background' feature? Considering my connection speed & data cap I would rather prefer not to have this feature because it uses so much junk data for things I decided not to download. I tried searching about:config page but could not find a relevant parameter and did not want to break the browser by messing around.

If this has been discussed before could somebody point me to right direction? I am using version 61 by the way.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have been using Firefox as my default application to open PDF files and everything worked correctly until recently. Now when I open a PDF, the file opens a blank browser tab and continues to open more blank tabs until I close Firefox to stop more tabs from opening.

I have restarted Firefox in safe mode and get the same results.

What can I do to fix this?

I have been looking at using MEGA as an alternative platform for cloud storage & sharing files. MEGA also offer a browser extension for Firefox which is available here: https://mega.nz/extensions

What I wanted to know is if this extension is available to download from Firefox Add-ons, if it is not can anyone tell me if it is safe to install from mega.nz

I would much sooner install it from Firefox Add-ons if possible.

Many thanks for listening and for any advice that anyone can offer.

Attempting to access certain features on the site of a bank in another country, I downloaded a shady program the bank said was required to perform transactions. The program installed a some suspicious drivers that appeared to monitor Internet communications, and modified my Firefox certificates.

Luckily I had a recent restore point that appears to have removed the application and drivers from the system. But my Firefox installation still contains a certificate authority with a name related to the application.

How can I reset all the certificate authorities in my Firefox installation to only those that Firefox provides in the official installer?

Are the certificate authorities stored at the Firefox level, or at the user profile level?

Finally if all else fails, if I uninstall and reinstall Firefox will this reset the certificate authorities, or are they stored with my user profile?

Will uninstalling Firefox remove my user profile? If I reinstall Firefox will it find my pre-existing user profile automatically?

I have updated the favicon on a client site and yet my Firefox bookmark still shows the old favicon and will not update to the new one. I've cleared history and cache, deleted and re-bookmarked - all to no avail. One forum suggested an add on but the one they suggested isn't compatible with the latest version of Firefox, which I have.

Any ideas?

I just discovered Firefox is worse than Internet Explorer. I need your help to fix that.

Here's the deal. A website has a certificate that expired not so long ago. It's my friend's website, I know everything is fine and safe, but he can't update the certificate since he's gone afk for a few months. And yet, Firefox won't let me access the site, because oh my god certificate expired.

Well, if I go to the same address in Internet Explorer, it shows a similar warning, with 2 options: - to close the site - to proceed at my own risk

So, where in Firefox is the button that lets me proceed (just this once)? Um, nowhere. And I can't add an exception to this certificate either. So as a result I can do more with Internet Explorer than I can with Firefox. Wow.

How do I tell Firefox it can stop treating me like a clueless 3-year-old, because I know what I'm doing? Where is the "no need to protect me from myself" checkbox that would enable more options?
