Hi Everyone,

My apologies for posting something relevant to DuckDuckGo and not a Mozilla product, but I am getting frustrated at the lack of support with DDG and wondered if anyone can put me in touch with where I might get some help.

I have discovered the original DDG Forum has been archived and they are now using a Reddit based alternative.

I do not use Reddit and will not be signing in with them to access that forum.

Does anyone know of any alternative sites where support on poor/inadequate search results might be had please?

Many thanks,

Ian

Using Firefox 59.0.3 (64-bit), when I try to enable the "Use offline" setting in Gmail I get the error message:

"The browser that you are using is missing some features required to enable offline. To enable offline, you must use Chrome with version 61 or higher."

Like many people, I don't want to use Chrome, but I do want to use Gmail offline. Is there a practical solution, please?

FF version 59.0.3 kaspersky internet security suite

of late, when a new version of firefox comes out they break something.

i am seriously thinking of chrome - heaven's forbid - but at least it works.

so any help to resolve this issue would be great before i enter the evil chrome empire :-(

since firefox updated to the above version i get the following error messages on some major websites, like bbc.co.uk, wikipedia, and others, some websites work, i have added some as exclusion but other websites don't give me the option.

the websites work in the Edge browsers ok.

some website sort of work, they just display strangely, mainly text and very little formatting at that.

i have set kaspersky to not scan encrypted connections in the network section, but that stop the mymoney protected browser from kaspersky from working!

i seem to spend more time getting firefox to work after an update, i'm at the point now where i just can't be bothered anymore.

i have cleared caches and other things i have seen as suggested fixes.

I have Firefox Quantum 59.0.3 (64-bit) on a Windows 8.1 desktop PC. I have noticed that not all the windows on some web pages are loading correctly in Firefox but do load correctly in IE11. Attached is one example from today. From this you can see that using IE11 there is a section 'Your Details' that is completely missing from the Firefox screen. As this is a screen to do online voting it was very obvious that something was missing. I cannot find any questions to do with this issue in version 59 hence my submission.

Background: I'm using text editor and pasting into FireFox. If I type in the Firefox application directly, things get garbled. If I type in the Firefox applihation direhtly, things get garbled, like this, If I type a 'c' into Firefox, it becomes a 'h'. The single quote mark becomes 'e'. The double quote mark becomes 'E'. This happens only with Firefox and not the text editor. Haven't tried other applications. This was first noticed today.

After a recent update from MIcrosoft (presuming this is the cause) I am unable to open pages in a new Tab. This is serious as for instance secure pages (banks etc) open in a new window. Just now I need to access my bank but cannot as the opening page will not hold .. it briefly opens then closes.

I've been trying for about a week to remedy this but now it's becoming urgent. Anyone have any idea of how to fix this?

ps I have Adobe Flash installed on this laptop (see attachment).

I copied my firefox default profile onto a thumbdrive, and am trying to add it to another computer in addition to the default profile already there.

I want to KEEP the existing default profile on the computer as the default, and simply add my profile from the thumbdrive as a second available profile but NOT as the default profile.

I first tried copying it as it was, e.g., with the "default" extension. I put it in both the root and roaming firefox profile folders. The profile manager isn't "seeing" it for me to rename it, however - either with firefox open or with it closed and launching the profile manager using the windows + R keys. Then I tried renaming it in windows explorer, changing the "default" ending to my name - the firefox profile manager still isn't seeing it. Finally, from a support question here, I tried going up one level into the firefox folder, and renaming the "profile.ini" to "profileOLD.ini" That simply created a new blank default profile, and when I launched firefox it said that mozilla hadn't properly formatted their security certificates and an exception couldn't be made... so I deleted the newly created "profile.ini" file, and put the "profileOLD.ini" back to just "profile.ini" - and now firefox launches properly and I'm back where I began, still unable to access the profile I'm trying to import.

Help please!

Just what it says on the tin. Booted up my computer for the first time today, started up Firefox, got the ol' "Hey, we updated ourselves to version eight million five hundred thousand sixty four or whatever" page. Menu bar and Bookmarks toolbar missing. Brought them back to see only "Most Visited" and "Getting Started." Dug through Bookmarks, all empty. Checked through likely Help articles. There is no "Old Firefox Data" on my Desktop, and there are no additional profiles to choose from beyond the default. In File Explorer there's only one Firefox profile folder beyond the current one, but it has very little in it, and doesn't have any bookmark information I can find. As a shot in the dark, because the Help articles suggested it, I finally tried the refresh function, but all that did was create an Old Firefox Data folder of the current (empty) state of Firefox, not that I was expecting it to magic my old Bookmarks out of thin air. Is there some sort of a trail that gets left behind when an update obliterates everything it touches? I'd very much like the very large list of Bookmarks I have back; I need many of them for work and I will likely fail to remember all of them with my limited human brain.

Use an URL as a shortcut to open Firefox and go to a page. Firefox opens, and the requested page opens. As soon as the page finishes loading, it clears itself, and reloads. Once that first page has stabilized, using URLs to request additional pages does not cause that behavior. Only the first page requested after Firefox opens automatically refreshes after opening.
