Some sites, like CNN, say up front that if you use their site, you agree to let them use cookies. Can I still block them? Is this what has killed the cookie blocker? If I close a site, can I then erase its cookies?

While my problem was solved via asking this question, I'm pretty sure that there must be an easier way to register with Mozilla Support. The sign-in/registration page seems to only offer a sign-in option, no registration. It seems so ridiculous for it to be this difficult to register, that I'm sure I must have missed something somewhere. Anyway, glad I'm registered now :-)

I've been trying for days to figure this out, but not being a 'computer person' has frustrated me...

I got a wireless camera recently and have been trying to use it. Unfortunately, Tenvis requires the VLC plugin in to be able to play on Firefox. The only other browser option they suggested was using Internet Explorer, but I can't seem to find a copy (doesn't work with Edge). For some reason, my Chrome isn't able to connect to the internet despite me posting this. Tenvis forums also mentioned also trying going through the VLC program, which has so far been unsuccessful (contacted Tenvis about that).

Using Firefox 53 VLC 2.2.4 Camera https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZVELSQA/ Tenvis Forum (once post is approved) http://forum.tenvis.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=151209&sid=5f2c86b1ce3740feb49af498279b854d

I receive this error message when trying to access a military course online. I have tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot this, including your online suggestions. Please help me to disable this error message and get past it. I trust the website I'm going to, https://ellc.learn.army.mil. I don't need anything protecting me from this .mil website that's required for my work. I sent in this question before, and got no response. Please help.

when media starts playing on my computer without my consent, this should be considered a cybercime.

The only way for a video to start playing should be `right click -> play`

cut the nonsense with the *media.autoplay.enabled* switch. it doesnt work and it never will. as soon as the website uses any kind of scripting, this switch is ineffective.

which extension do i need to install to stop this autoplay nightmare forever?

Is Firefox 53 the cause of Windows freezing?

Since two weeks or so, whenever I'm (also) running Firefox 53, all over sudden my whole pc freezes: nothing works anymore, no mouse, no task manager, nothing. FF does not create a crash report (doesn't get a chance to do so) All I can do is a hard reset. This does NOT happen when I'm not using FF. (Sometimes I get a warning that Firefox has stopped, but then it keeps running, so probably one of extensions or add-ons has failed.) I have a stand alone, always fully updates Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 pc. SFC /scannow was ok, CHKDSK had to repair errors in the volume bitmap, and memtest86+/8 passes came clean. I cleaned up FF and am now only running one extension.

There can be three causes: 1. Firefox 53 2. Extension(s) 3. Windows (latest updates) 4. Other/unknown

I generated a memory report, which is abracadabra to me, but I it points out what's wrong and someone can explain what to do. But how can I post the memory-report.json.txt?

FF 53.x freezes and locks up my PC

Hi,

since the update to FF 53.0 (and now also with 53.0.2) I've had it freeze on me 5 times and every time it also completely locked up my PC - mouse was frozen, Ctrl+Alt+Del didn't work, gave it 10 minutes but was still frozen afterwards - and I had to shut my PC down forcefully.

My system: FF 53.0.2 (32 bit) Win 7 (64 bit) 16gb RAM FF Addons: NoScript & AdBlock Plus

No changes in terms of add ons, no Windows updates or new programs that could have caused this. The only programs running in the background are/were my anti-virus/anti-malware programs, Skype, Outlook, Rainmeter and my mouse driver (all of which I've used for at least the last 6 months). The first two times it happened when I tried to restore tabs from the "oops, that shouldn't have happened" page and the last 3 times when I opened a new tab (with 1-2 other tabs open at max, usually only an empty one!). The 3rd time was 2 weeks ago, the 4th time on May 9th when I opened a new tab after clicking on one of my tiles on the "new tab" page (no other tabs were open at the same time!). Today it happened again! I installed a bunch of Windows updates a couple of days ago and this time I had Minecraft loading up and was watching a movie (DVD) in VLC (no Outlook running this time) but when I opened a second tab in FF, the picture froze again. The weird part is that the sound of the movie kept playing but it didn't let me move the mouse or open the Task Manager. I've never had a video run at the time of the freeze, so I don't know if Windows would have still kept playing the sound the other times.

I can play really hardware-intensive games that use 50+% of my cpu (not that there are a lot that do) and a lot of my gpu's power/VRAM and/or RAM (sometimes goes as high as overall 13gb/16gb) but I've never had any freezes just with games + watching a video at the same time, it always happens while opening a website through one of the tiles or a new tab directly in FF 53.x!

I rely on java to run financial websites I use all day, every day. I also need it for social media sites, internet banking and a host of other sites. The loss of Java in Mozilla has been a huge blow. I tried using the legacy editions with java (after ages trying to find them!) but they are just inadequate - applications still don't run correctly so I have had to abandon them and revert to using IE11 - which has its own problems but at least mean I can use sites again.

There must be millions of users who are lost without this functionality. There may be problems with Java but they are for the most part surmountable and you should in my view make java optional for users rather than impose a solution to a problem that for most people does not exist!

For years we are using zip-archives to store sets of linked html files with many 1000 of files. As these files are all read-only and we need to store many different versions of such sets we use the zip format. Till very recently we could browse the html in such zip archives using a local URL inside a zip file such as

  jar:file:///C:/xxx/yyy.zip!/index.html

After the automatic update to version 53 of Firebox this functionality has stopped working. With automatic updates just a few weeks before all was OK. So this change must have been introduced with version 53. So far Firefox was the only browser we know with this capability and and for us this is a core feature. Please get this functionality back. Thank you
