I cannot get Firefox to open at all. This has been an issue on this laptop for a while now. I un-installed it including removing the Program Files sub-folder for Firefox. After the installer completed, it tried to open it and it crashed. I have the latest Windows 10 updates installed and have run security scans on this laptop from various vendors. There is no spyware, viruses or other malware.

Crash report copied from the System Details list by moderator.

I have to use version 51 so that I can use Java to open Oracle (I refuse to use IE). I have checked the box to never check for updates, Mozilla updated anyway. I deleted everything I could find on my computer Mozilla related, re-installed version 51, checked the box to not update and checked daily to make sure that there were no pending updates. I ran it for about a week just fine, but then it crashed and when it restarted, it was on version 53. I deleted everything Mozilla again, re-installed v51, told it not to install the sneaky background service, checked the never update box, went into the about:config and made sure the setting really said not to update, then went into the prefs.js file to triple check that it really really wouldn't be set to sneak in an update, and then went and double checked that the sneaky background service wasn't installed, then made sure it didn't have any pending updates anywhere. Ran it fine for a day, it crashed, and when I restarted it, surprise, surprise I'm on v54. It shouldn't be this hard to just stay on the version I want to use. What in God's name do I have to do to keep it from updating? Does Mozilla just ignore what the user actually tells it to do and does what it wants anyway or is my version of Mozilla just trying to start the Skynet revolution? I'm pretty close to just writing a vb script to just delete everything Mozilla off my computer and re-install v51 it everyday at midnight so I can just not have to deal with it anymore, but I figured I'd ask for help here first. If I can't get help here, I'll probably just go under my desk and cry while eating glue and rocking back and forth until they either fire me or have me committed.

Hello I have some older cisco CDs, where, except for the 1st home.htm, ALL the .htm files on it are zipped. Cisco started doing this, to save space back when a HDD was less than 1GB, back about 1997. After this, all the Documentation CDs had to be run/viewed thru the AUTOPLAY.exe 1st, then 'Launch CD' (which ran LAUNCHIT.EXE I think) which put an unzipper in memory so that whatever browser you chose (on the next screen) woudl have every .htm file unzipped b4 it was passed on to the Browser.

What I want is to copy the ENTIRE CD to my HDD and view it w/o using the CD.

So, what I need is a Plug-in or ? so I can unzip all the .htm's within Firefox.

I've tried posting some messages to 7Z about copying the entire CD to the HDD all the while unzippign .htm's on the fly. I was told 7z can't do it.

I used to program in C, do I have to write a program to do this ?

Seems simple enough... - find all .htm files below a certain Directory, and unzip them, using the same name, appending a unique number or letter (like -old) to the filename as the new unzipped file has to have the same name as the original.

Simple. But I haven't programmed in decades and don't even have a compiler on my PC, yet :)

Since yesterday updating from Firefox 51.0.0 (I presume it was 64 bit, but I didn't notice), I can no longer print a Web page either to my printer or to Acrobat. Attached is a screen shot of the error message produced.

This is EXTREMELY annoying -- I just tried to print my boarding pass; had to take a screen shot and print that, which I can only hope will be scanned correctly by the boarding machines!

Is there a work around or a fix coming soon for this?

Why did I get switched from 64 bit (I'm pretty sure, since I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 SP1) to 32 bit for this update? Does this have something to do with my printing problems?

When I press CTR +SHIFT+B, I don't see any of my bookmarks or anything to left or right, its all white I can see the top headings though.

When I click Bookmarks (up top next to History, and Tools) I can see all my bookmarks, there are quite a lot. The problem happened after I had to power off at the electrical outlet and I didn't shut down Windows 8.1, and Firefox, because my computer had stalled overnight.

I need to see my bookmarks again when I press CTR + Shift +B

I tried find such a addon last time about 2 years ago with no success. I guess it is very difficult task...because dynamic nature of web pages. Is there any addon that is capable to switch text background color to light grey on ALL occasions?

My firefox browser has all but quit working. Sometimes it won't even open. Other times the site just seems to keep loading all kinds of other site stuff down in the in the lower left hand corner that I have never seen before. Then other times I will click on a bookmarked site and instead of opening it just keeps running the same stuff down in the bottom. I have tried several system restores. But it just keeps going back to doing the same thing after a few hours. Slamming the computer down by holding the power button down will get firefox going again but not for long.

Hi, so as the title suggests, my firefox is crashing several times a day especially when watching youtube channels. It basically freezes firefox and it becomes unresponsive. I resolve it by CTRL+ALT+DELETE and ending the firefox process each time. I'm not sure what the reason for this is. If you can help that would be appreciated. Let me know what you need.

I have a space saving need on my small letterbox screen so I try to keep the FF toolbar area as narrow as possible. I use quite a number of add ons in order to do this, and use the Developer edition to make it easier to control.

The customisation panel/options is not very helpful in this (I hate the layout and lack of controls that have been in the customisation panel for the last dozen or so 'upgrades'.), but I've gradually managed to get the top of the screen looking good.

Unfortunately, the toolbar area does not seem to be very stable, and there is a double arrow at the right end of the navigation bar that is a real pain. This double arrow is not always there, so I can arrange all my icons nicely in customise, only to have several of them pushed off the side of the toolbar, when I go back to normal view.

Reading around these threads, I eventually found out about the navigation box and search box being set to take up the nav bar when on it together. There were instructions for writing a Chrome css file to get the search boxes down to a fixed size. I tried this, and got the boxes to a useful size, but, unfortunately, the rest of the toolbar still behaves as if the space was not freed up. :/

The toolbars area seems very temperamental, and seems to allow arrangement of its elements sometimes, but not others. Juggling with where to put the nave box and search box, I did find an arrangement that let me use all the space for my icons, but, minimise and maximise, and the unnecessary double arrow thing, pushes three or four icons off the end, and introduces forbidden space as if the search box and nav box are still taking up the old space even though they appear to be reduced in size.  :/

Can anyone give me another tweak to get rid of the 'forbidden space' and double arrow behaviour, so that I can get everything neatly into my preferred two rows. I think I've got the FF layout pretty near perfect for my set up: if only I had control over this annoying space wasting function.

I'll add snips of the toolbar area in customisation and full screen modes. As you can see, there is 7cm of navbar that it simply will not let me use.

Many thanks for any help in getting this space back for me.

Hi!

Since an FF update, I receive more and more push notification popups ('Would you like to receive notifications...'). It asks to en/disable it for a specific website but than it comes on another one. I don't want this feature and I never have asked for it.

How can I disable this pop up once and forever? I tried dom.webnotifications.serviceworker.enabled to false and dom.webnotifications.enabled to false, but the notification popups contnue to disturb me. I simply don't want to be asked.

I run v51.0.1 DELIBERATELY because you keep making changes that I canNOT undo! Today half my ad-ons that I have been using for YEARS became disabled. I don't care WHO thinks they are "old" or "unsafe" - THIS is why I have stayed on v51 so I can work with what I need instead of what you THINK I need. I need the config parameters to turn OFF ANY and ALL of your "protections" that I do not need You have 15 versions of defective software now, you had 14 until you screwed with mine. A "feature" without an OFF switch is a defect and I want this defect corrected. I do NOT want to update to 65 - I lose too many features I want to keep and the add-ons I want to keep will not work in v57+ - Hence I stayed at v51. --Kindly tell me how to repair my now-defective browser and then please tell your developers, as politely as you choose, to STOP ADDING DEFECTS!
