While inside the SAFE MODE version of Mozilla Firefox 48.0 on Windows 10-64 bit with hardware acceleration turned off in Firefox the page https://domain.opendns.com/ads.rubiconproject.com displays black. This happens on many other pages I simply picked one randomly to illustrate it. It shouldn't be necessary since I'm in safe mode to say that I also disabled hardware acceleration in flash player and that I also tried turning off protected mode in flash. It also shouldn't be necessary to say that I'm on the latest video driver since I'm using Windows 10 but I will say that I am on version 368.81 of nVidia's latest release as of this posting.

About a week ago I could no longer open firefox (my standard browser)

I could not find what causes the problem. Firefox would appear in 'task manager' but not on the screen to start using it.

I came across an old version of firefox in my downloads and installed this.

I now have found out that the latest working version for me is 48.0.2. I also tried the nightly version 52 but it didn't work neither. Currently I am running 48.0.2 after the auto-update I will no longer be able to use firefox and will have to reinstall 48.0.2

I am using a desktop version of Windows 10 Pro / 64-bit / Dutch version On: i5-4670 cpu @ 3.4Ghz / 8Gb RAM

Every web page with video / audio content begins to autoplay (at the vid's highest volume) approximately 5 seconds after opening the page. I could disable this in Safari and Chromium, but see no option to disable the 'Autoplay' feature in Firefox. Worse, there are no plug-ins or extensions available that will allow this to be done. If you have had success disabling this annoying 'feature' (it's not a 'bug,' right?), please advise how it was done so that I may rid myself of these annoying vids. Thanks in advance.

I've been forced to switch to Firefox Nightly because latest updates automatically disable some addons that I need and can't replace. Fair enough. Today, when my Nightly 48.0 updated to 48.3 I was prompted that the "partial update" didn't work and it'd go for the full download. That one installs flawlessly; and when I restart Firefox, to my surprise I see that the Firefox icon is red again and I'm told that "some addons are unsigned and have been disabled".

Of course, this means I'm going to install my 48.0 Nightly again and temporarily disable automatic updates until we find out what the fox is happening here and how to solve this problem. I'm not knowledgeable enough of Firefox's insides to do this by myself.

EDIT: It isn't Nightly, it's Unbranded 48.0 (got them mixed up because Unbranded calls herself Nightly)

I got a message saying Firefox was staring slowly, not taht I had particularly noticed, and it offered to 'refresh'.

A quick glance at the consequences said it would get rid of 'extensions' but no mention of add-ons.

So I stupidly went ahead and lost adbloc (and all its settings), spell checker etc.

No advice given on how to reverse this (is Mozilla following Miscrosoft policies now?)

A web search pointed out that old settings were saved on the desktop, but the advice of copying over the old user profile and deleting the new one didn't work, in fact Firefox refused to start at all saying the profile was broken - surely this is wrong, it should start in default mode.

Finally I got things working by restoring the 'new' profile and copying the old one's contents over it so I kept the new profile folder name.

The badly worded page encouraging users to 'refresh' needs to be changed urgently is if a relatively informed user like me can be caught out, it is going to leave lots of less experienced folks reduced to tears of rfrustration.

1 It need to make it explicit that people will lose ALL of their APPs and settings

2 Their needs to have a reliable and automated path to reverse the changes which is easily accessible

3 Ideally, before nuking everything, it should display a list of add ons and allow you to select those which you want to keep or remove.

The refresh feature as it stands is a complete car-crash. Also I question the basis on which it is judging Firefox as slow to start, I don't consider under 2 seconds as 'slow'. I had just assumed that refresh would just get rid of temp files or indexes that had become cumbersome etc.

these directions obviously refer to earlier versions but I would like to make this very adjustment please?

Apparently since updating to v48.0 I am unable to view any youtube videos on Firefox. I can view them in Chrome. I have tried uninstalling and installing v43.0.1 by downloading it from the Mozilla website. That did not fix the problem. Nor did subsequently updating to v48.0. The only extensions I have enabled are Internet Download Manager and the Roboform toolbar - neither recently updated. There are lots of Ask to Activate plugins, but only 3 always activated: Open H264 Video Codec by Cisco, Primetime Content Decryption Module by Adobe Systems, and Shockwave Flash. The OS is XP pro SP3. Please don't bother to remind me it is out of date - I am working on moving to a new OS. It is just the video I cannot view - the rest of the youtube page is resolved. See image uploaded herewith.

For a month, I have been trying to purchases items at some websites but purchase doesn't go through all the way. These are sites I have bought from before. Now I can't.

The green lock is present, but also have a circle with letter " i " in it and a shield.

When I click on the circle or shield it say "Firefox is blocking parts of the page that may track your browsing". These are present on all pages through to purchase. I've tried different cards and pay pal for these purchases. None will go through to confirmation page even after a sign on with password. It takes my info but after i click to buy it doesn't confirm sale with a receipt.

My Firefox and Norton's software both are up to date. I did a refresh for my Firefox but didn't help. I also called Norton's about this and told it was a problem with Firefox. Can someone give me any info on how to fix this ? It's very frustrating.

Hi

I have noticed that my URL (Address) Bar when I click the drop down arrow it is rather long at the moment. The history only fills up the top half and the bottom half is just blank.

Now I had this awhile back and someone here had suggested using STYLISH to control this and it worked great for a long time meaning the drop down was set to a more appropriate length about half a screen worth of drop down just enough to display the history, but yesterday or the day before I noticed I was back into the longer drop down again and when I checked STYLISH it now says nothing effected for the URL category.

So does anyone know if there is a work around to limit the length of the URL Address bar drop down history box as full page for me at least is very irritating

Thanks
