This is not so much a question, as an answer that some people desperately need.
Ever since Version 34, Firefox has done a superb job of restoring the tabs that the user has created, either on restarting Firefox (if that option is chosen) or on request.
The details of how to restore tabs are covered in Firefox's basic help online, and even how to deal with several crashes in a row (such as in an addon) ruin the normal backup file are also well explained.
However, today I accidentally pressed Alt+F4 twice on my poorly-designed keyboard and closed my main window, with 93 tabs, and another Firefox window as well. I'm not sure this is exactly what happened, but I lost all 93 of my tabs.
I read many of the postings in which people give various suggestions, but none worked. Every time I restored a version of the sessionstore.js file I saw the same lonely empty tab. Restoring prefs.js did nothing, and neither did making changes in the internal configuration constants.
I tried refreshing/resetting Firefox (which preserves bookmarks), but I still couldn't restore the tabs. It was now clear that the problem was in sessionstore.js (and all its backups) for sure.
I'm writing this for people who must restore their windows or tabs, and don't mind getting technical about it. That was my situation.
The solution was to realize that the sessionstore.js file contains JSON code, which is an efficient way to represent integers and strings arranged in a tree structure.
I figured there must be a JSON editor somewhere, and it turns out there is a great one available online, at www.jsoneditoronline.org . It can read a file on your computer, edit it, then save it back on your computer.
As soon as I viewed sessionstore.js in the editor, it was obvious how easy this was going to be. The top level of the tree is understandable. I simply grabbed the data representing the window with 93 tabs, and dragged it from the list of closed Firefox windows to the list of open windows. This automatically moved the history of each tab, and even the strings entered into forms.
After copying sessionstore.js back to the Firefox profile, I started Firefox one more time. The playing of Pandora signalled that my tabs were back and functioning once again.
Now, editing JSON code is not something that everyone is ready for. And your problem might not be reflected in the JSON tree so simply. But, for technical-minded people who don't want to lose their tabs or windows to a mistake or a crash, this technique can be just what's needed when everything else fails.

I keep three profiles on my Network Attached Server (ReadyNAS Ultra 4), where they get backed up every night. Firefox v32 opens fine on my older Ubuntu 12.04LTS box and my even older WinXP box.
My newer Ubuntu 14.04LTS machine came with Firefox v35 (if I recall correctly). It wouldn't open my profiles. I upgraded to v37. It still will not open any of the three profiles on the server. FF will start only if I use a locally-stored profile. I can open them on a VMWare virtual WindowsXP machine on this box (again, v32), but not natively in Ubuntu. I get the message:
Firefox cannot use the profile "Private" because it is in use.
I don't know if this is a bug with v35+ or something peculiar about my install of Ubuntu 14.04. Chrome works fine, and I have no other problems with the files on the server. If it were a permissions issue, I don't think it would work on my 12.04 box.
Please help. I'd like to use Firefox again someday.
I think there is a very annoying bug after the latest update of firefox, can I talk to someone, or chat with someone so I can get rid of it

Since the latest auto update of my firefox browser I am experiencing strange issues. Every evening when I stop working, I close my browser (closing all the tabs that I am working on and in the morning, I restore the session) . For many years everything worked just fine ... untill after the last auto update of the firefox browser .. all of a sudden a got 302 errors ( a blank page with the description 302 and I believe "page moved here" or something to that extend ... i try to click the link and get nowhere.
I first noticed it on a few wordpress pages (backend ) that I was working on and which were restored from the previous day ... thinking it was a server error, since we have several vps and dedicated servers .. i contacted the company who hosts our servers ..
they looked into it and apparently .. there were no issues on the server side and neither on that particular computer ... but our server hosts told us .. that it is probably browser related and seemed to have something to with a bug with the cache of the browser
we didn't know what to do .. it was very annoying .. but at that point it only happened once on a hew pages .. so we decided to see what happened the next time
Next time we did not restore a session with wordpress pages .. but with the google search engine open and on a few other tabs logged into social media .... and as was saidn by our server hosts it was indeed not related to work that we did on pages on our servers ... since that time even the google search engine homepage ... showed us ... moved here
Can you pease look into it and fix this .. we are doing the same thing as many years on the same computer also a few years .. so it is not anything we do wrong either .. it is most definitely browser related
so can you please fix it asap .. since when we work on wordpress .. that is not the only thing that goes wrong .. we also have difficulty uploading updates ... when updating sometimes after the update of any particular change on a wordpress page is done ... we are also redirected to a blank page .. so the updated page does not want to load ... in that case we have use our back button ... which sends us back to the right page ... but with the old data on it ... then we have to refresh that page .. and only then we see the page updated ... so it seems that there is an issue in both direction with the caching of the browser after the last update

Are there any known issues with CLM 501 installer on Windows Server 2012 R2.
During the setup we have specified the custom installation directory to point to E:\ Program Files ( a folder created ) but the issue we noticed is after installation is complete when we tried to Start JAZZ Team Server it just flash off .
To get this working We have to remove the complete JTS server and re-install into C:\ drive the default and now it comes up.
Where as the same is not true with Windows 2008 R2 as we have everything CLM 501 running on 2008 environment.
We see many similar posts not exactly the same. Let us know if this is also a known issue and are there are workarounds / solutions.

Hello, My name is Alan M. Lubeski the Walt Disney World animator and imagineer. I have been using Firefox for years now and never had a problem. last week I noticed something strange started happening with the browser. When I scroll down on the Twitter followers page my browser would freeze and or crash. It also happens when I upload a large batch of files to my Facebook. I am not a computer expert but it seems anything with allot of images causes the browser to do this now. Could the browser be trying to cache every image on a page at the same time as it scrolls causing it to fill up 2 gigs of memory and then crash or freeze? I watched the task manager next to the browser as I scrolled down and as I scrolled down the memory usage for Firefox would just keep going up until it hits 2 gigs and then Firefox stopped working. I made sure it was not my add-ons, I did system maintenance and I ran several anti viruses and I made sure everything was up to date but there was zero issues and or reasons for this problem. I would hate to have to reinstall the browser because I have everything set up the way I want and need for work. I made no changes so I don't see a reason to go through all of that. I find it strange that this would just start happening on its own! Is there a real quick fix for this so that I can get back to work? I need my browser so I can manage my sites and upload my new art for my fans to see!

Since the latest FF and Flash update (37 and 17) I can't watch any videos or flash content - like (annoying ad) banners. Everything literally FLASHES. Like a strobe light. Then videos get stuck, the cursor jumps/freezes, sound stutters and eventually mac crashes (panic). The fans are constantly hyperventilating but nothing weird is running in activity monitor.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled flash; same for Firefox; cleaned flash cache - nothing
- I only have flash, java and QuickTime plugins installed
- Downgraded flash to previous version (16) - better, no flashes, but still stutters and crashes after watching video for 10-15 minutes most (sometimes not even that)
- Tried to watch using VPN but after a while graphics and sound go crazy
- Decided to upgrade again to flash 17. Now it flashes again and I can't watch videos for even 1 minute.
- Tried the about:config media.mediasource.enabled (change to true); dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode (change to false); Firefox "get info" open with 32-bit mode; - nothing worked
What can I do? Any idea? Thanks

I've been having a lot of trouble with youtube in FF on and off for a while now. I noticed if I run FF in safe mode, it works without any problem, but normally playing a youtube vid (even embedded in another site) can cause my display driver or even my pc to crash. My driver is fully updated, and was reinstalled cleanly. I tried refreshing FF and it didn't help. I uninstalled FF completely, even manually erasing any trace of any file/folder that had firefox or mozilla in it. Reinstalled and still the same problem continues.
Firefox no longer displays comments on Youtube videos, unless I switch the view to > page style>No Style.
But then there is no page formatting. I've searched and tried everything I know of. If it's a Youtube setting I can't find it. I see the playing video but below there are…

Dear mozilla Firefox Support-Team: The uploaded image has been the Screenshot of the ‘Print-Preview’ + the Window of ‘page settings’ starting this report to be sent to get your support !
And this had been the status until the minute before: For several weeks I had not been able to print out neither any page directly from a Website out of Firefox nor one which has been created as pdf-file out of a form or procedure on a Website. So I could neither record ordering-protocols nor simply print documents or at least a location plan out of a route planner. Up to now, I took this as printer problem as I added another net-printer to my Notebook. However, i finally had to solve it! On the other hand I could print out of other Internet-Browsers but don't want to use them for several applications and reasons.
However, developing this description of my printing problem, taking the uploaded screenshot, somehow, don’t ask me exactly how it did it, suddenly I could see the upper edge of the page-settings-window. Fore sure I tried to do this for weeks and for sure a hundred times without any move of the upper edge down.
What I found then and there in the ‘margin’ box I could not believe 2500.00 ! It’s just the answer of my question - giving it myself! And this explains too, that for a simple Website or documents page hat been created at least a dozen of pages or much more without any text, letter or picture on it.
A FIREFOX PROBLEM: But at the same time it shows a big problem of this ‘print-settings-Window': by any reasons every user might be able to create wrong settings (large numbers – made by accident or anyhow) might shift the upper edge of the page-settings-window out of sight and unreachable first to find the mistake and second to correct the entry.
However, I still don’t have the real explanation how I suddenly could see the upper edge of the page-settings-window with this incredible number 2500.00. But during the trial to find the OK button, which now had been vanished with the lower edge of the page-settings-window, I found that I could go through all boxes of the form using the Tab-key – finally so I could confirm and enter OK for the correct margin.
In the same manner I might have reached before the upper edge of the page-settings-window.
Hopefully this will help you to correct this problem with your next Update-Version, which might have driven mad already a lot of Firefox users.
But with that connected there is a SECOND and still harder PROBLEM: On several Websites, also on your support Website of Firefox, this will lead to crash the Firefox program. Especially, and this is very important to remark, if the printing process had been started with those wrong set pages the printing process goes on and on, does not finish and can't be stopped without ending Firefox, which mostly leads to crashes by this action. Further on, starting Firefox again after this crash and restoring the crashed Tabs again the printing process starts again in the same manner generating the next crash.
That should be enough for this. With best regards Thomas Spaney
PS: It would have been easier and therefore faster for me to write this letter in German! Would this have been possible? If yes this should be mentioned also if there's not a German support line available!
For a former problem i could use a chat-line. I couldn't find it anymore. Or doesn't this exist anymore?
However, I would appreciate any comment on this finally very long report. Thank you !

I have asked this without result. When using firefox, I can do a search, go to a page, go to deeper pages, click the back button and forward button; but when I click the back button to the home page, the forward button disappears. I have done this by accident or design many times. When I back up to the home page, I have to start all over again, redo the search and it is extremely frustrating. This is NOT fixed by the "Restore Defaults." It seems that if I back up to my home page [Usually Google Search] then Firefox assumes that I will not want to go forward again. I do NOT want another ADD-ON for this. I merely want the forward button in all windows where there is a forward page. How can I get that? I hate to say it, but this happens enough that I have been using Chrome for searches and just general surfing. In my opinion, the forward button show be in ALL windows, grayed out if necessary, but there. But I can accept it disappearing when there is NO forward page. But not when there is a forward page. Note: this NEVER happens in Chrome [and others.] See pictures 1. Google search 2. Search for Yellowstone 3. Go to Yellowstone site 4. Click back button to Search for Yellowstone page. 5. Click back to Google page. Where is the forward button so that I can go forward to the Yellowstone search???

I have the latest Firefox on a brand new laptop and the audio in almost all video streaming is bad. I have always used IE but Firefox was on this laptop so i thought i'd give it a go as i'd heard good things. I'll be honest i'm not impressed. The sound problem ranges from a mild intermitent crackling every twenty seconds or so,to terrible pops and crackles like a badly scratched record. Youtube is the worst but almost all other platforms are effected. I have put up with it for a week or so but it is really annoying now and needs sorting. Reading around the forums i have tried various things but to no avail. Nothing helps.
Windows 8.1,64 bit system. CPU averages about 9-14 when streaming.
Here's what i have tried.
The on/off of hardware acceleration. Clearing of history/cache. Reinstalled latest Adobe Flash. Clearing of Flash Site Data and Settings. Disabling HTML5 via about:config media.ogg etc Refreshing/tune up of Firefox. Messed about with speaker settings checking and unchecking various things, altering sound to different qualities.
As a last resort i am considering a reinstall of Firefox but unsure as i don't want to lose all my bookmarks.
I haven't looked into or am even sure the problem could be the 32 bit Flash and Firefox on a 64 bit machine. I dunno, this all seems a bit much just to watch a video. Can anyone help or is it back to IE?

Running Windows 8.1 PRO version and latest version of Firefox 37.0.2 I set Firefox as default browser in Windows 8.1. When I open Firefox normally from the taskbar or from the shortcut on the desktop all things work as normal. IE The Minimize / Full Screen / X exit but all appear in upper right. Works fine always. using standard themes and no issues there.
I downloaded and installed Outlook Express 6.0 (a version of Outlook Express re-designed to work with Windows 8.1 from here: www.runasxp.com and the program works just like the old Outlook Express I used in Windows XP PRO. I dual boot and by using this email client I can save my emails from my different accounts to the same drive and folder(s) of my other emails that was built using Outlook Express (Microsoft) in my XP operating system. Point is they save exactly the same so I don't loose any emails going back and forth from Windows 8.1 to XP.
I also have another email client I use mostly for weeding out emails I don't need or want to download, called POP Peeper. Fully enabled email client with ability to have multiple accounts and also ability to reply, forward, or create new email in there if I want.
Problem comes when I open Outlook Express in Windows 8.1 and follow a hyperlink in the email. If my default browser, Firefox, is not already started and OE starts the Firefox, there is the missing icons in the upper right. IF the browser is already running and the icons are present (as they always are), then any hyperlink from OE will open a tab, as normal, and the icons are still there, as normal. I do not get this situation when I click on a hyperlink from POP Peeper when Firefox has not been already opened. I do not get this when Firefox is up and running and I click a hyperlink from an email in Outlook Express 6. ONLY when it first starts out running "Firefox" from a hyperlink in OE6 do I get this issue with the blackened icons area in Firefox. The icons appear to still work, because when I click in the appropriate area it minimizes, full screens and all the way to the right where the X is it closes like it should.
Why does Firefox behave like this? Is there something missing in the registry that does not open Firefox properly from hyperlinks at times? You can also see the conversation at this link where I posted pretty much the same question. The "creator" has emailed me in the past that it is a Firefox issues as he googled and found issues with this same problem. Except under normal circumstances I do NOT have issues with Firefox and the missing icons in the upper right. link -> http://runasxp.com/Thread-Firefox-and-links-from-OE?pid=6437#pid6437

FF version 38.0.5 and 39.0 crash during opening first website. Version 37.0.2 works just fine.
In doing a bit of research I believe the problem is with Websense Triton AP-Endpoint DLP.
In my case, and many others I saw in various crash reports, the failing module is QIPCAP.DLL.
I am running Websense Triton AP-Endpoint DLP version 8.0 Build 2081.
