Ever since Firefox update (which removed ability to have tabs on bottom for whatever reason which I really enjoyed having), I'm unable to move the refresh button over to the left of the address bar, near the Home and Back/forward button which is where I want them. How can I fix this? Can I?

Thank you for your time.

Browser Firefox 29.0, OS X 10.8.5 I can no longer Quit Firefox and have it happen. When I try to shut down the computer, up comes a message saying I must first close Firefox. Then I use Finder>Applications>Firefox icon and then click on Apple, pick the troublesome application (Firefox 29.0) and choose Force Quit. This is rather irksome as well as cumbersome.

About 3-4 hours ago I upgraded to Firefox 30. I have lost the look and functionality that I prefer. I have spent several hours trying to get it back, but nothing I have tried has fixed it and several things have made it worse. I think this is just not worth it. I want to roll back to ffx 29. I understand the warnings, but I don't want to switch to a different browser any more than I want to switch to ffx 30. On Mozilla's help pages, there is a link to a page of folders, but it is not clear how to downgrade to ffx29.

I'd rather not have to install an add-on that mimics previous versions where the tabs had color. Thanks.

Okay, I really really dislike the FF 29 layout and use of it. For me it makes no sense at all and find it also butt ugly. So did some searching and experimenting and thought I shared my finding so maybe others with the same opinion/feelings can benefit also.
There is the option for the Classic Theme Restorer but for me that is an add on that is way too complex for a simple task. So, not for me.

Here are the add-ons that make FF look old school with normal back- and forward button, a normal download window, add on bar and so on. Warning though: it is a minimalistic look. All the fancy non-productive nonsense and so on are gone. I use all this with FF 29 now and works (and looks) great.

1) LittleFox . This add-on makes everything "smaller". But as a kind of bonus it also gets the round buttons, tabs and so on out of the way. Info and download: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/littlefox-for-firefox/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/littlefox-for-firefox/

2) Addon Bar. A simple addon that adds the add-on bar, no need to restart FF. Info and download on https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/

3) Backward and forward arrows: really great add-on that brings back the normal backward and forward option. Info and downlopad on https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/

4) Normal download window. I am very happy with this add on: the normal, down to earth and logical download manager. With download speed visible and so on. Info and download: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/downloads-window/
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/downloads-window/

And that's it. Only four add ons to get FF back to it's great and logical layout it once had. If it is too minimal in your taste, I advise to not use the LittleFox add-on.

Edit.

I hope you do not mind, I have taken the liberty of editing the links so that they are capable of redirecting to other locales. So I removed the Dutch nl/

I tested the program and found no problem using it. Using your file explorer, go to a directory of your choosing.
(Not the desk top)
Create a new file and call it KillFirefox.bat or whatever you want. Note; this is a BAT file.
Open the file with a file editor, and copy everything below into it (after the ========= of course).
Save the file. Now, use the file explorer, right click the new program, and select
Create A Shortcut. Then move the shortcut to the desk top. Place it somewhere on the screen
so that if Firefox locks up, you can still reach the shortcut.

If you want more information about Taskkill, open a DOS window, and type Taskkill /?

Hello, everyone!

I've filed a bug report here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1004476 The problem is that after installing Firefox 29 with no profile at all and installing any addon that requires a browser restart (NoScript for e.g.) Firefox restarts OK, but after closing it and trying to open again I get a message: "Firefox is already running". I can see in the Task Manager that there is already Firefox running in the background. I've found several people complaining about this issue. Here: http://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=19612 And here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2825639

Thank you in advance

2nd Update. (Comment by a moderator)
Engineers are working on issues that have been identified.
The known issues are problems with Firefox hanging on closedown resulting in Firefox not restarting unless the hung process is killed.

Workaround ensure Firefox is NOT set to clear History on Close down
Use NewButton New Fx Menu → Preferences → |Privacy| Firefox will: [Remember History v ]

im not sure i can live with this. i need my original firefox back. this version is no good. how do i get the previous theme with my orange firefox button and grey top ?

im am positive that i did not say to update. it just did it on its own. now its gay blue. whats worse is there is a gradient into the gay blue. horrible and i need help to get rid of it.

it wouldve made more sense to put the icons on the left. and leave the search on the right where it belongs.

if i redownload 28, how do i stop it from updating again?

I just want to go back to where I was before I selected "update FF". P.S. I use Ad block plus 2.5.1 but don't see the icon anymore....

WHY would you dock the reload/stop button. Now we can't move it. I heard too many users moved it then forgot where it was. i can see how that creates support headaches for you.

At least dock it outside the URL field, and NEXT to the back/forward arrows. It creates such a horrible usability issue; just not friendly to have to move all the way across the URL field. Surely there's a better solution than dumbing it down to the lowest user skill level and just docking it.

And surely there's a customization solution for users who know what they're doing. Please. Someone.

In Firefox 29, the refresh button is permanently embedded in the address bar's field on the far right. On large monitors, this is very inconvenient.

In most cases, the URL of the current website does not reach beyond the 1024 pixel mark, and even if it does, the far right-hand portion of any given URL is usually the least significant part of the web address.

Particularly in Right-To-Left language versions of Firefox, a user's attention is heavily focused on the leading portion of the URL, on the far left of the browser window.

Why is the user forced to break attention from the leading edge of the address bar, and find the far right-hand side of the address field (which can vary in length), AND THEN target the mouse on the very small refresh icon?

Why is the user forced to lift their hands from a resting position on the keyboard, to find the F5 key to refresh the page?

If the iser is already looking at the URL bar, and the refresh is located directly to the left of the address bar, this makes refreshing the page with the mouse a lot more convenient.

Please allow the position of the refresh buttong to be configurable in future versions. There's no legitimate reason to lock down the refresh button.

Thank you.

Since I updated to version 29.0.1 Firefox is crashing daily. Before this latest update I had no problems. I've gone through support and tried every suggestion (safe mode, made sure all drivers are up-to-date, uninstalled and reinstalled, etc.) and yet it still crashes. I desperately need my browser to work flawlessly for my work, otherwise, regretfully, I am going to have to use another browser. Here are a couple of my crash reports:

If anyone can help me stop Firefox from crashing, I will be eternally grateful.

And don't tell me to use an extension, they come and go, don't work after updates, etc.
