Why doesn't Firefox have a home page icon to the left of the URL search like other browsers have?

How do I disable the bookmarks bar so it only appears on a new tab.
toolbar buttons used to automatically appear, what must be done to make this happen?

I would like to make the toolbar and bookmark font larger. When I search for answer it keeps telling me to change layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to a larger number. I have done that a couple of times, and after restarting Firefox the font is still the same size. I search the community and didn't see an answer either, so figured I would ask. Thanks Jack
