Large portions of Gmail or Ebay are highlighted or greyed out constantly. It's driving me nuts.

So far I have tried to uninstall firefox and re-install it. I have cleared my cache and cookies several times and just today I clicked on the little shield in the search bar and turned off the toggle for enhanced tracking. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions???? Please?????
