Chrome has a better printing feature than Firefox.

it's impossible to print shipping lable through Firefox, no matter how you set, it keep on sepate into two pages lable.

I have to switch into Chrome everytime I print shipping lables of my store orders.

I have screenshot to demonstrate the trouble caused by Firefox.

My question is why Firefox can't make the printing feature same like Chrome? if you can't make the same, how to print small lables(like 10cm by 15cm) though Firefox?

Hello,

I organise a lot of bookmarks through hierarchy folders. Within these folders there are several sub-folders with the same name, e.g. there are main folders named after the main theme and beyond that (sometimes also 2 or 3 levels beyond) there are folders named after a country.

Folder Theme A

  • Folder Country A
  • Folder Country B

Folder Theme B

  • Bulleted list item Folder Theme B part 1
  + Folder Country A
  + Folder Country B
  • Bulleted list item Folder Theme B part 2
  + Folder Country A
  + Folder Country B

....

I have remarked now several times that the bookmarks of the Countries are moved or gathered in different folders. First I thought I moved a folder by accident, but it happened now serveral times and today it was clearly not made by me. Today Firefox now gathered the content of several Folder Country A of different Theme-Folders together in one. But it gathered only the content, the folder itself were moved to complete different Theme Folder where I found 3 sub folders now of Country A (but empty as the content was gathered.

To make it better understandable:

Folder Theme A

  • Folder Country A
  • Folder Country A (from Theme B) - empty
  • Folder Country A (from Theme C) - empty
  • Folder Country A (from Theme D) - empty

Folder Theme B

  • Folder Country A (contained the content of the Folder Country A folder of Theme A, B, C and D)

But this is only one example, I had also once found only one further subfolder in a complete different folder. I don't see a concrete process how these issue is occurring.

Obviously there is a mix-up due to the same name of the folders, there ar eno bookmarks missing. But to rename the folders is not really a solution for me, especially as these folders are not duplicate in the same level of folders. I am not sure but I am assuming that these mix-ups has something to do with the sync function I activated in Firefox now a while ago. There are currently 3 devices which are synchronised over my Firefox account (1 Win10 laptop, 1 Android mobile and 1 Android mobile). But I have nothing changed with my mobile e.g., I just add sometimes bookmarks over the mobile devices. The "wrong" placements are also visible in the bookmark manager in Firefox on my mobile devices, so it is not only an issue with some settings as the bookmarks were really changed also over sync.

What can I do or is this a bug with the sync function?

I have two devices showing up under my synced devices. I would like to view the tabs of one on the other. In Sync Settings I have checked both "Bookmarks" and "Open Tabs" (I've done this on both devices, although imagine it's a setting at the account level). Nonetheless, when I view my synced tabs on either device there is nothing there. I know the sync is working to some degree, however, as I am able to send tabs and forth between the two devices.

Initially, my problem was that I could view the tabs of one computer on the other but not vice versa. However, after unsyncing/resyncing the devices and playing various other tricks in an effort to solve this issue, I have also lost that functionality (i.e., neither computer is now able to see the other's tabs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!

The Mozilla Answer page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile#w_copying-files-between-profile-folders, provides some pretty good information about which files to recover, but, doesn't include the general population's need to recover their last sessions, so a mention on this same page would be extremely helpful. Next, I found the places.sqlite file will update automatically without shutting down Firefox (most likely when the computer is put to sleep and then awakened). A warning about this little known file updating would be helpful to those who learned about their lost history, but choose to wait until later, like recovering it prior to shutting down, but they will have lost the opportunity when the places.sqlite file self updates itself automatically (who knows exactly when or why) I'd like to see this important information placed your answer on this same (above) troubleshooting page, because when I loose history caused by a proper shut down, I'll need to your page infor to remind me what to be cautious about. And I don't believe you have created a back up file to places.sqlite to which I can recover and rename yet, because I believe the closest name to it has very little memory in it, but I could be wrong.

Currently, all the user data will be left after uninstallation of Firefox or extensions. It is convenient for the one who would like to reinstall Firefox or extensions. However, sometimes the user just want to have a clean installation. The only way is to uninstall Firefox, then install. At the first launch after reinstallation, there will be a prompt to ask whether to restore Firefox. That is super fussy and unfriendly. Why not provide an option to delete user data directly?

Chrome has a good designing about this. Hopefully Firefox can have a better one.

Since I'm sharing all bookmarks between my firefox for desktop and firefox in my android smartphone, I use to take all my bookmarks in the menu bar of my firefox for desktop, then accessing bookmarks from firefox in the smartphone by selecting "desktop pc bookmarks" > "bookmarks menubar" > ... What I don't like at all is firefox always opening bookmarks selection menu in its "root" folder, so that I always have to navigate the bookmarks selection menu to go to the last used bookmarks folder. I suggest firefox for android to retain last selected bookmarks folder, like chrome does! (much smarter behavior)

In Chrome if I want to do either of the following:

1. Click link on a page using Ctrl+Left mouse click or 2. Click a bookmark using ctrl+left mouse click

The link opens in a background tab without leaving the page I am on or closing the bookmark menu.

This does not happen in FF and no key combinations I have researched or tried will duplicate this action which Chrome allows.

Since going back to FF it is hands down the best browser there is - however I am finding my inability to open the tabs in the background like I could in Chrome to be frustrating.

Any help to achieve this would be great.

I am using WIn10 FF 6301 (64)

Thanks in advance.

There should be an OTG mode for Firefox. It's sort of like a guest account on public PCs. Basically, a "PPC" mode in Firefox should be turned on to note that the browser is not for personal use, only in public PCs like at libraries and internet cafés.

You can sign in using your Firefox account, and a 2FA request will be sent to your mobile devices running the Firefox mobile app. You can call this feature "Firefox passport"

This will allow sync until you close the browser window.

Also, when visiting others with a PC with Firefox, you can temporarily enable this by clicking "Sign in as a guest" in the hamburger menu (Is that what you call the 3 lines in the right of the awesome bar?)

Again, temporary sync until the browser is closed.

The first time it happened I thought that the problem was with the downloads, until I saw that my removable disk was full.

But if a warning message appears, no guessing will be needed.

We use the same browser for work, for a school study, while shopping or while trying to book hotels for a vacations. It's not uncommon to move between these contexts, which leaves the typical tabline with dozens of tabs open.

Performance issues aside, it makes using the browser feel cumbersome.

I believe working on such a feature would be great. A similar concept can be shown here https://refresh.study/

Hi there! I always end up having many tabs open in several windows and today I clued into how much time I waste trying to find the right window. I currently have 128 tabs open over 5 windows and every time I shut down and start up Firefox I "restore previous session". I started looking today for a way to label my windows so that I can have them as categories like "Music", "School", "Health", "General Learning", etc. I use a Macbook and use the 4 finger swipe down or up all the time and wanted to see my windows labeled to clearly see the types of tabs I have open regardless of what tab was up front. There are a few plug ins that do that but I don't like the permissions that they need like "Access your data for all websites". it seemed excessive for just a label.

Then I thought. well it's basically a visual bookmark system. but I don't use bookmarks because everything disappears once I put it in bookmarks - it becomes less relevant when it's next to things from 8 years ago. here's what I imagine:

Primary idea:

- windows and bookmark folders are virtually the same thing, and tabs and bookmarks are virtually the same thing.

- I can command-click or option-click on one of the bookmarks in a folder and it opens in a window that is labeled as the bookmark folder name

--- I can command-click-drag to open several bookmarks as tabs in a window that is labeled as the bookmark folder name

--- new bookmarks I open from that folder open as tabs in the window of the same name if it's already open

Secondary thoughts for better flow:

- button in top corner of window will open a list of all the tabs open in that window but the list will be wide enough that you can actually read what the tab is instead of just the first 5 letters.

--- this way I can easily reorganize my open tabs.

--- below list of open tabs in that window is a list of the other bookmarks in that folder that aren't opened that I can click on to open or drag up into the the "open" list and drop it where I want that tab to open up.

--- if you want to get real fancy I can drag the tab from the list back up to the top corner and the other open window lists open up so I can move it to a different window - alternatively I can right click on it and select "move to" or "copy to" and choose a window or bookmark folder.

- colouring or aging can show how recently each tab or bookmark was opened - This link shows what I mean https://trello.com/power-ups/55a5d917446f517774210012/card-aging

- Turn on an option that when I hover over the title it shows a small render of the site (in bookmark menu or tab list)

Troubles to think about:

- Discerning between short term bookmarks (stored tabs) and long term bookmarks (regular bookmarks) - perhaps add a "lock" to the bookmarks you want to keep.

--- some bookmarks i want permanently saved until I delete the bookmark (how it works now)

--- some I want to be more transient so that when I close the tab it means I'm done with it (how I treat tabs now)

--- when implementing the "move to" or "copy to" suggestion above, you may want that move or copy to be a permanent or transient bookmark. I suggest keeping the "bookmark" word to mean permanent so perhaps a "bookmark to" option.

--- Perhaps closing a window doesn't remove them from the bookmarks folder, but closing the tabs individually does unless it's "locked"

All of this will help me to keep my tabs to a minimum when I start firefox and when I want to pick up on a different subject I can easily open all of the relevant tabs - most of which aren't "bookmark" worthy at this point, they're just there till I deal with them and close them. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. I feel this would dramatically increase my organization and workflow so I'm here to help

Sincerely, Rick
