I have 2 separate computers running windows vista. Both have basically all the same software installed. Both have the latest version of Firefox installed. On one computer Firefox is constantly crashing. Sometimes it will crash 3 times in a matter of 30 minutes. I really do not know how to read the crash reports and I need help to find out why it is crashing. If I disable all addons just the tab I am viewing crashes.

Trying to allow a manufacturers' system scan after suffering longstanding desktop issues but before this can happen I have to download their support assist launcher. So the problem is, the download is blocked after the run/save window with another saying unknown publisher and so refuses to start downloading. The manufacturer says check internet connection. It's fine Now I've allowed the name of the support launcher in firewall via exceptions but it still won't load. Even tried it with firewall turned off. The download Icon TzsetupSfx, is shown in the downloads folder along with its file version 1.2.0.715 and name of publisher. So what can I do to get the download accepted by Firefox. I'm running 52.7 in win XP 3 pro. The manufacturers' URL is a www.

Hello I have a problem with Firefox. It doesn't load webpages correcly and crashes after using it for a couple of minutes. For example, when I go to google street view, after a couple of clicks, street view starts showing black spots al over the screen and loading incorrecly from that point. Or when I'm watching a video on YouTube, when I scroll, the website messes up. I Also want to mention that this doens't happen in Internet Explorer or Opera. Firefox also works slower compared to Opera... Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be and how to solve it?

Thanks in advance

I use Firefox as my main browser (new install of the latest version on Windows XP) but this is happening in Chrome, I.E. and Opera as well. I suspect it's a bigger problem than simply an issue with Firefox. I hope someone can help.

Sometimes Firefox launches just fine but then it crashes when I open a new tab. Especially if I click a link to open in a new tab, then it freezes up completely. Once that happens, I get a Not Responding message in Task Manager. I kill the process but then I can't get Firefox to open again, nor will Chrome, Opera, I.E. etc. launch. It helps if I restart the computer, but not always.

Other times I click the icon to launch Firefox and nothing seems to happen at all. When I look in Task Manager it seems like something is blocking Firefox from loading. It "chokes" at 4556kb, 7872kb, 8016kb, or sometimes as much as 8020kb. Then it stops. (A healthy instance of Firefox is 250,000kb or more, depending on how long I have been using it.) So it never fully loads the program.

I get similar results with other browsers. Chrome stops loading at 9540kb, I.E. stops at 6620kb, and so on.

This started yesterday and I've been trying to solve the problem ever since. With breaks for sleep and food I've been spending all day troubleshooting. I can't even remember all the fixes I've tried at this point.

The thing that keeps stumping me is why would it affect other browsers? If Firefox is corrupt I can reinstall it and fix the problem.

Also, I can't get Adobe Acrobat Reader to launch. I uninstalled that but haven't re-installed it yet. (Adobe's site is down.)

Can anyone think of a connection between different browsers? Or between Firefox and Adobe Reader? Is there some piece of Windows code that's common to all of these? It's a mystery!

I'm running XP64 pro. The scripts on Yahoo will stall FF after a few minutes. Often I get the popup message that a plugin script has stalled and asks if I want to prevent seeing this again from the site. That's nice but every page on Yahoo is unique. So the stall happens on every page that isn't closed after a short while. The more stalls I get the slower my computer runs even though I use task manager to kill stalled processes. Then I have to reboot to clear out the FF remnants. Is there a way to kill remnants of stalled scripts without rebooting? Often FF crashes and asks me to send a report to Mozilla. Seems to me you guys should have a feature to enable extended logging for inclusion in crash reports. I have sent many requests to fix the problem. If you guys can't fix the root cause of the problem then can you at least provide a decent workaround so the memory doesn't get cluttered up with orphaned threads sucking up all my CPU power?

Hello, Pasted below is the report/details I get from Mozilla Crash Reporter. Is there any information in the report to help me fix the problem with my install? Thank you very much.

Clicking to launch Firefox immediately causes it to crash with the Mozilla Crash Report appearing. Even that doesn't work properly as I get a message reading, "There was a problem submitting your report."

I am connected, using IE to submit this request for help (the machine is XP). Below is the pasted Mozilla crash report information.

Thank you very much.

On one forum that I use all the time, when I have the list of "Unread topics" up all of a sudden now when I hit the back button it goes back to the top of the list instead of where I was. This is only happening on one site. It was suggested I try a different browser which I did and had no issue with the different browser. This just suddenly started happening a couple days ago. I've cleared all history except cookies as was suggested by a friend. Doesn't happen with my other PC's running FireFox either.

Where can I download Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR 52) for Windows in order to continue using the Session Manager extension? It's extremely important and vital that I am able to restore my historical sessions and also save multiple sessions going forward.

When I try to download it, I can see it will be 60 version instead.

Unfortunately I mistakenly updated my ESR 52 version today without realizing I'd lose that extension. This is very frustrating, so to alleviate the issue, I'd just like to have the older version and stick with it. Thank you.

Hi, my installation of Firefox 52.4.1 ESR is crashing reproducibly when I'm not using Safe Mode on certain sites, like Google Maps and Reddit.

I have created a completely new profile without add-ons and themes, and disabled hardware acceleration. Firefox still crashes on these sites. Only starting Firefox in Safe Mode solves the problem.

The problem only occurs on my tower PC which has a NVIDIA GPU, and not on my Thinkpad. Both are running the exact same Firefox version on Arch Linux with identical add-ons and user profiles. So it may be problem with video acceleration, but as I stated, I disabled HW acceleration. Btw. the problem doesn't occur with Firefox Quantum which I don't want to use until the most important add-ons are ported.

Anybody got an idea?

Hi everyone

I've been struggling with a Firefox (v52.6) sluggishness problem for several months, and since in the meantime I tried all fixes I could find suggested in these pages, I thought to try and seek help in the forums.

Firefox is still usable, but resource-intensive pages (e.g. Facebook, Google Maps) are slow to respond, and often freeze the Firefox window (the no-response mouse cursor) for a few seconds. Meanwhile, the same pages (and the same amount of total load, i.e. open tabs) in Chrome produce normal performance, which suggests the sluggishness is a problem with Firefox rather than a performance issue with my PC, which is of decent specs (8GB RAM, i7 CPU).

Typically, Firefox becomes more sluggish the more it's been without a restart, and the memory resources it uses seem to grow proportionately. However, even when it's only using a few hundreds MB (after a restart), it's still quite sluggish, while Chrome, with a similar amount of memory used, is just fine. Likewise, when after a while the RAM consumed by Firefox/Chrome goes up to >1GB (not sure if this is in itself normal or not!), while Firefox is crawling, Chrome is still fast.

What I tried, which did not fix Firefox's sluggishness (or only did so for a short while):

- disable extensions one by one, and even all at once

- disable all plugins

- start Firefox in safe mode

- ultimately, I used the refresh function, and immediately afterwards Firefox seemed to be as fast as Chrome. I subsequently reinstalled all my addons (which include ABP, Zotero Connector, Classic Theme Restorer, NoScript) and settings. The next day, it seems my joy was shortlived, as Firefox is back to its usual sluggishness.

I would not want to migrate to Chrome unless I really cannot find a fix for this problem. Can anyone suggest more things I can try?

Thanks so much for any help.

Simple. I had Firefox ESR 52.9, along with some add-ons that will not work in 55+.

I thought I had disabled automatic updates. But to my surprise, I got updated to 60.

I don't like what I am seeing. My system has a standard of dark text (preferably black) on light background (normally white, light gray if not active), and you are basically forcing a dark theme even in the daytime, even if gray on black is hard to read, even if my monitor cannot go up to "bright" in a short space/pixel count.

I don't like the ultra-tiny little icons for the new tab page (I do like being able to see more sites; the old one capped at about 54 sites no matter what settings I chose). I don't like the new "hidden menu" that is appropriate for touch screens that doesn't respond to keyboard (control F2 on Mac, alt-space on Windows).

I don't like the look at some of my add-ons have changed to. I don't run a touchscreen tablets, and I don't want my computer to be forced to use a browser that pretends that it is.

I don't like that the new Firefox basically forces pocket on me. I don't like pocket, I don't trust its terms of service/privacy policy, I don't like that Firefox/Mozilla has chosen to basically make it a first-class citizen even though it doesn't put my interests first and foremost. I don't like that Firefox has basically decided to say "whatever Google does, we will follow". I don't like that Firefox/Mozilla has abandoned its view of "what is best for the browser user", and gone to "whatever is best for the website".

Ideally, I would like to have ESR 52.9, as well as ESR 60.X, side-by-side. I would use 52 for 99% of what I do, and only switch to 60 for those sites that simply will not work at all in 52.

Ideally, the only difference would be the display of the websites. They would share the same history, they would share the same set of bookmarks, etc. There would be no loss of data when I move between one and the other.

I have a Time Machine backup. What do I need to do to get the old Firefox back, and prevent it from instantly auto updating back to the new junk? Including my old add-ons.
