This morning I just noticed that my Firefox version is 114.0.1 32 bit and I know my system is 64 bit. I downloaded 64 bit and installed it but when I open, it has reverted back to 32 bit. The version number is still the same. Is this a problem please? I am running Windows 10.

Netflix quit working today. It said my browser version was no longer supported. I updated from v.86 to v.89. It looks like crap. New tab + icon is gone. "tab bar" is not transparent or dark mode. And guess what: Netflix still doesn't work. That's probably their problem but now I have no Netflix, weird crap on the whatever bar, add-on icons are gone, and this big gaudy tab bar.

How do I rollback to a previous version? I'd rather not have excuses or sales pitches as to why 89 is better from the newer-is-better crowd. For me 89 is NOT better.

So, how do I rollback to a previous version?

What setting will stop the constant notice "Download the latest version of Firefox." I don't want 20 notices per day. It's like having a child in the backseat "are we there yet?" "are we there yet?" "are we there yet?" How many times do I have to click the "Dismiss" button before this stupid software understands that I do not want updates? I've noticed that this is a common complaint. Stop the bullying by making people choose automatic updates. Many times things get messed up on my computer with updates and it is not worth the aggravation. Candace M.

Firefox Nightly cannot be found in the 'Software' store, so probably the only way to download it is by going to the website and getting a tar.bz2 file. I got that, extrated it and placed it in the/opt folder, made an application shortcut, added an icon, and now it's working like a normal app. The problem arises when it tries to auto-update. Firefox Nightly updates very frequently, sometimes more than once per day, and on windows, I used to get a notification saying that a new update is released, and if i wanted to install it. Clicking yes, Firefox would update and restart within moments, and restore all my tabs and windows seamlessly. Here on Linux, I have to manually download the new tar.bz2 file, extract it, replace it in the specified folder, and launch Firefox Nightly again, and again and again usually once per every alternate day, whenever the new update comes. Is there a solution for this? Will Firefox someday release a .deb file for easy installation and updates? My PC : Dell Optiplex 3070 OS : Zorin OS 16 Core (based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS)

Win10 with what was Firefox 89. I had already disabled the Proton UI on this installation, because it is horrible. Today Firefox decided to update to version 91. All of the Proton UI junk is back. I tried disabling it again, but nothing worked. Doing a web search, it appears that Mozilla has disabled the ability to turn off Proton.

I then set about to rollback the installation back to version 89. I found a Mozilla link on this, went to their ftp server and downloaded the installation files for the last version of 89. The installation went normally, but when I opened Firefox afterwards, a little box popped up saying something to the effect of "To keep your History and Bookmarks from possibly being corrupted, Firefox must create new user profile." I exited out of this and Firefox didn't start. I attempted to restart Firefox again and the same box popped up again. The only way to get past it was to click the accept button.

I did so and Firefox started. This was clearly not version 89. As the UI is junk, it took several minutes to find out that this was now the latest version of 92!!!! I'm absolutely positive that I downloaded the correct file. When I look through the update history, it doesn't even show todays version 89 installation as happening. What a piece of junk.

I then spent 20 minutes figuring out how to revert back to my user profile, not the new one that it had created for me. I then did some research on what had happened. Well it turns out that you can't actually rollback Firefox, despite what Mozilla says. For a while they have added "downgrade protection" which automatically creates the new user profile and stops your old profile from being accessed by it. So unless you want to figure out how to spend a hundred hours reconstructing bookmarks, passwords, settings, etc. it actually isn't possible to rollback Firefox. Doesn't this violate some Microsoft rules about being able to uninstall versions of software from within Windows? If you try to do this with Firefox and go back to a previous version it blows everything up.

Does anyone know how to actually rollback Firefox to a previous version, so that Proton can be disabled?

I have had this issue before and uninstalling and reinstalling has fixed it in the past. Today when I opened firefox it prompted me to update , which I did without thinking. Subsequently, it stopped working. I have tried: restarting my PC, running in troubleshooting mode( it wouldn't even open when I tried this), uninstalling and reinstalling using the internet installer, uninstalling and reinstalling using the offline installer ( tried on multiple hard drives, so I don't think hardware failure is the issue), installing an older version of fire fox, and installing the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit version. The attached images show what displays upon trying to launch firefox. nothing loads, not typing an address into the search bar, not clicking on a bookmark, the only UI element that will display is the 3 horizontal line setting menu.

Apologies for asking this here, but I've done the Google and can't find an answer.

Background: I keep 2-3 Firefox versions and profiles on my computer. The software is in, for example, directories FFox82, FFox84, FFox86 The profiles are in, for example, directories Firefox82, Firefox84, Firefox86 (The software and profiles are on different drives.)

When I do an upgrade, I copy the newest software to a new directory and rename it (e.g., FFox92 - so now there are 4 sw directories) Then I copy the newest profile directory and give it a corresponding name (e.g., Firefox92 - so now there are 4 profile directories). I install the new version to its directory and thenlaunch with a -p option. Then I create a new profile and point it to the corresponding folder. Then I launch the new version with the -p option pointing to the new profile directory.

This has worked for decades.

But I just tried it with Firefox 90 and Firefox 92 and NO GO. It acts as if I've never used Firefox before. No apps, no toolbars, no bookmarks, nothing.

What is going on? Am I stuck on Firefox86 for the rest of the century?

And, please, don't tell me how wonderful these new versions are and I should simply accept the change. I have a virtual lifetime invested in the toolbars, extensions and bookmarks on my computer.

I simply want to know if there is a fix and, if so, what it is.

Information on your download page (desktop, Windows) is obscured by floating popup prompting one to download Firefox! Why have any information at all, then? Why not just have a blank page with a download button? As in, if you don't already know all about Firefox, then you don't want it? But maybe I want information about a browser before I download it -- you tantalize me with fragments but you don't let me see it. WTF! There are already download buttons on the landing page. Maybe you don't want to frustrate people so that they give up on Firefox because they don't trust ANYBODY WHO CAN'T DESIGN A DOWNLOAD PAGE THAT IS ACTUALLY READABLE!
