I deleted the FF download I had been using because I was having an issue where my bookmarks bar wouldn't show up, the max/min/close buttons on the window wouldn't appear, and nothing I typed would appear in the address bar. This was a clean download where I deleted FF from the applications folder.
The new download works fine if I double click the application directly in the download window (where it prompts you to drag it into the applications folder) and then sync my account to get the bookmarks and extensions back. Once I do drag the application into the applications folder and then try to open it from there, I am stuck with the same issues described above with an unresponsive address bar and no min/max/close buttons.
I've attached a screencap of the problem window and the "download window" in case either of those things were not clear.

Window 7 sp1 I checked '%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\updates' and the folder is EMPTY. I was on v67.0.x and it would have updated to the brand new v70. Tried installing v68.0.2I had the installer for and it opened in a new window without my favorites, saved logons, etc. I clicked on the firefox icon pinned to the lower taskbar and it opened v68.0.2 with all my favorites, logons, etc. Only seems to be one firefox application in Program Files. I Pasted 'about:profiles' into both and attached is the screen grab. Need to endup running v68.0.2 or v69 but NOT the just released v70. Why does an install or update always change my preferences to automatically install updates??

A couple versions back, I started getting this pop-up message each morning, "Firefox can't update to the latest version". I downloaded a newer version and upgraded manually a couple times, now up to 70.0, and the pop-up keeps happening. I see a couple other people have reported a similar problem, one here was blown off because they were, supposedly, running a beta version. I'm not running beta. The other one I found was fixed by doing something to the registry, but I'm on Linux, not MS Windows so there's no registry (at least none that I know about).
The one other symptom I've noticed is that when I bring up the "About Firefox" window, it takes a really long time to figure out that "Firefox is up to date". And it always says it's up to date (if I wait long enough) even when there's a newer version available.
It would be greatly helpful if that pop-up would say *why* it couldn't update itself but it does not give any useful information.
Thanks for any help on this.

After the most recent Firefox updates, I wasn't able to load Facebook anymore, so I looked up whether I could reinstall Firefox without losing all my bookmarks and settings. I followed the advice given on this support page by renaming the folder "OldFirefox" and then reinstalling Firefox, but everything has been lost (or at least seems to be). What I don't understand is when I right click over the new Firefox icon (after the reinstall) and look at the properties, instead of pointing to the folder ...Mozilla/Firefox.exe, it's pointing to ....OldFirefox/Firefox.exe. It's as if the install didn't create a new Mozilla folder in the directory, even though it was supposed to during the install. Is there a way to get back what I lost? I feel like I'm going to throw up right now. I had an enormous amount of things bookmarked and saved. Thanks for any help.

Firefox 69.0.2 is no longer able to load any web page since some time after updating to macOS10.15.
The Mac itself is connected to the Internet and I can do emails and Safari just works fine.
But FIrefox cannot connect to anywhere and show "The connection has timed out". I have tried Refreshing, Safe mode, and re-installation after removing the profile folder under Application Support. None of them worked.
Is this only me? Is there a fix?
Thanks, Kouichi

I have been trying for weeks to solve this problem and figure out how it happened but I cannot download any type of file on Google Drive on Firefox and it's been bothering me. I have cleared my cookies, cache, history, saved logins, restarted on private browsing, changed numerous settings and deleted and reinstall Firefox and Abode Flash. Nothing has worked. I even deleted McAfee protection in case it was a firewall problem but that didn't work either.
I'm only having this problem on my HP laptop and on this browser. Downloading google drive files works on my Dell Laptop through any browser.
If anyone has any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to solve it, I would be very grateful. I provided a screenshot of the error every time I try to download a file.

As above. FF installed the update despite the checked option to NOT install automatically. NO "old firefox" folder was created-anywhere. No other profile is present that has the old data. My adult daughter's grad school laptop. Years of bookmarks, logins and I do not know what all ARE GONE!! I allowed FF to download but NOT INSTALL-since it was not my machine and I wanted to avert any disaster (I, in fact, looked at the options first, to make sure) NOW WHAT?? Is that is a bug?? Why was there no "old FF" created? Why did it install regardless of instructions to the contrary. Is there some other place to look? She does not seem to have any automatic backups for FF profiles.
Update option is checked but FF will no automatically update and keeps asking to download newer version.

Using 68.0.2 in Debian 9.4 Stretch. Originally FF 68.0.2 was installed in my Downloads directory but I moved it to /opt and is still working fine. Since the release of version 69 it has been pestering me asking for an update, even that the automatic update option is checked on. Downloaded 69.0 and again moved to it to /opt. Renamed the 68.0.2 from firefox to firefox 68 and tried to run 69 but it will not respond. Any ideas on how to solve this issue? Thanks.

In the admin account and all user accoutns, I had Firefox > Options > Advanced > NO UPDATES and turned OFF "Use a background service to install updates."
I created a new account on this computer. The VERY FIRST THING I did was go to Firefox > Options > Advanced > NO UPDATES and turned OFF "Use a background service to install updates."
Guess what. It updated. It updated for all accounts.
I've easily lost four work days of time in the first 8 months of 2019 because of FIrefox updates. I need a way to stop updates. ALL updates. FOREVER. ALL UPDATES UNCONDITIONALLY BLOCKED. No leakage. I do not want them with a goat. I do not want them on a boat. I do not want them here or there. I do not want them anywhere. Is there any remaining ambiguity?
The ways described above don't cut it. So let's think unconventionally. Is there a file I can set the protections on, so Firefox's update balks and gives up? Can I create a file that has a name that Firefox update expects, and give that file some content or property so that Firefox update fails?

Hello.
In organization we like to use Firefox as default browser. But we have a every day problem with profiles.
After update, Firefox create new profile and not copy user data to it. So user lost hes tabs, extensions, history and e.t.c. We can see two or more profiles for one user.
For example user logon to computer with Firefox version 68.0.1. Firefox automatically update to 68.0.2, and user now have new profile without custom data.
profiles.ini looks like:
[Install308046B0AF4A39CB] Default=Profiles/6qa5a710.default-release Locked=1
[Profile1] Name=default-release IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/6qa5a710.default-release
[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/xu3ic03g.default-1561039332923 Default=1
[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2
We create powershell script for workaround issue. Script copy files from privies profile: $profileCurrent\*.sqlite" $profileCurrent\sessionstore.jsonlz4" $profileCurrent\extensions\*.*" $profileCurrent\*.json"
You mast know that in organization we user roaming profile and ue-v, so users can logon on any computer. Some computers can be with older Firefox version like 68.0.1 or new one like 68.0.2.
Please help find solution for this issues. Can Firefox account help with this? Or we mast create some more clever script?
Thank you.

Should have send everyone email warning of this. New account creation page should have option to enter existing UserName & be sent an email, so you know what email was being used. Over the years there have been many. Also different emails for "Get Satisfaction" (Is that defunct?) & for sending questions to Developers and AddOn authors...
I used the address that I found searching old email for announcements sent by Firefox/Mozilla, so it SHOULD be the one I used "here."

Got a new iMac with i7 processor (old one 2009 with high sierra) I set up the new one, backed up the old one and did the transfer from the external hard drive. Everything transferred even the firefox pages and tabs migrated but the bookmarks did not. A window for firefox quantum appeared for an upgrade which i left alone for now...
2009 imac firefox still works fine so looked up the problem = eventually found out 'my profile is missing', I have backed up latest copy firefox on 2009 imac and have an .html file and a .json file so using an sd card might work
tried these too but no good
