When I was asked to update Firefox to the latest version something has changed on my menu bar and my bookmarks. First, my menu bar changed colors to a very dull gray whereas before it was either black or dark blue. Second, all my bookmark list is now double spaced which I don't like.

Is this something in the latest version and will it be corrected or give me instructions to change back to the previous look that I've described.

Thanks, BR-yat ejleche@hotmail.com

Latest update installed and lo and behold, once again Mozilla screwed it up. I now have one tab on the bottom of the page instead of many in a toolbar at the top of the page. Mozilla continues to ignore users' complaints about tab location preferences and other tab functionality and arbitrarily making decisions which for most people make no sense. This latest iteration of Firefox (89.0) is for me the last straw. I will no longer humor Mozilla by spending countless frustrating hours correcting your obvious lack of programming skills by attempting to return my browser to what it was prior to another faulty update. My patience has finally run out. Before I leave Mozilla and Firefox, one last comment. Because the Mozilla support forum relies on amateurs and volunteers to answer users questions, and since I have had trouble getting workable solutions to my problems, I tried to send feedback directly to Mozilla. That was a monumental task which I was not up to, obviously, which is why I'm here. Whatever good there is in Firefox is far out weighed by the lack of programming skills, beta testing, quality control, etc. prior to forcing out updates to it's users. Like many recent users I have decided to forego further use of the Firefox browser which is unreliable from a development team which does not seem to care. I am beginning to wonder if the continuing screw ups are being deliberately caused by embedded saboteurs from Google or Microsoft!

I've been on Firefox for 15 years, I suppose - it's really the only browser I've used. I've seen the product go steadily downhill, but I've stuck with it - because (until last week) Firefox had the best support for people with visual disabilities - like myself.

But 89 is the last straw. The new UX, the new setup for tabs is simply unusable for me - and I suspect for many with visual impairment. I can't even see the tabs distinctly.

It's a bloody shame. Firefox was a great product. Firefox - 20 or so versions ago - was better than anything else out there. But now.

It's unusable for me - and I'm sure many others.

I'm not saying this to gripe. I'm saying this so that, hopefully someone in Mozilla will change the strategy of a new release every ten days, and go back to a stable, usable, secure browser.

But it's a sad day.

So the new tab bar has been dissolved together into a mush of text, there is no definition between the tabs and the background.

My eyesight isn't great and the new update has made Firefox very difficult to use. Please bring back the tab defining features and the contrast between the tabs and the background. 'Modern' doesn't always mean better!

It would also be nice if you would respect the general Windows settings that make these components visible. Discontinuity between different apps makes it very difficult to navigate the browser.

In Firefox settings, Firefox new tab, and in these mozilla forums, my add-ons are disabled. Specifically Vimium, and I get this message when hovering over the Vimium icon: "Vimium is not running on this page.

Your browser does not run web extensions like Vimium on certain pages, usually for security reasons.

Unless your browser's developers change their policy, then unfortunately it is not possible to make Vimium (or any other web extension, for that matter) work on this page."

How can I enable this, and possibly all normally active add-ons in these pages?

Not only does the all WHITE background hurts my eyes -- it makes using Firefox UN-ENJOYABLE!!!

Who and why was this change made to my browser?

And why can it not be undone?

I have upgraded to Firefox 89.0 (64-bit) several days ago.

The new look is interesting to say the least.

However, I am more irritated with a functional change or something.

I access Facebook via Firefox on Windows 10 PC.

Facebook reports arrival of new posts from FB friends or comments to my posts.

It used to be that these reports appeared as non-modal dialog and so I can ignore them and type in something into FB window freely.

With Firefox 89.0, I suddenly notice that these reports appear as MODAL dialog and I have to clear them before I can type anything into FB window.

Is this behavioral change intended by the developer?

Just wondering.

Should I report to bugzilla?

Hi,

Just got version 89.0 installed. And I totally don't like what happened to the tabs. They are visually disconnected from the page they belong to and transformed to some kind of buttons (at least when selected. When not slected only the caption is visible) . I cannot even imagine why such a useless change is done, but in terms of UI design this is not a good step. It makes things less clear.

I would like to have to old tabs back, but cannot find a theme which can do this.

Is there a setting with which I can set to old tabstyle back?

Thnx

I've used Firefox since 2001. Twenty years I've been able to customize it like I want.

A few months ago I switched from ESR to Release channel because the release version could still be tweaked to the way I like it. Huge mistake!

Version 89 totally destroyed everything I like about Firefox! I use Firefox on a large monitor from my easy-chair. I NEED compact layout. Everything is zoomed anyway. I hate the new tabs! I ESPECIALLY hate the double-spaced bookmarks! I want to continue to use a custom CSS in "chrome" folder.

I switched back to the ESR channel (FF78) and had to re-tweak my about:config settings, reinstall and tweak add-ons and load hundreds of bookmarks to get the favicons back. Unique favicons make it much easier to differentiate between sites. Generic icons suck. Major hassle!

I will stick with Firefox ESR until it too becomes unusable for me. At that point, sadly, my decades long use of Firefox will come to an end.

I include two screen grabs that illustrate how I like my set-up. Note how easy it is to tell one tab from another.

Why "fix" what ain't broke?

As others have reported, Firefox will suddenly close. There are no warnings and it doesn't freeze it just turns off.

As a WordPress web developer, I have lost hours of work due to this issue. When the browser closes, my work is lost.

I have installed the latest & greatest video driver (and the driver of everything else.) I have minimal add-ons.

I have seen several other threads and no posted solution. Should I start using another browser?

I found the exact thread that discusses this issue, but of course comments are closed. So this is what I need. I need the colors from the previous browser. This new one blows and I have good eyes. But I agree with everyone who said to return the colors to what we've used for the past however many years (10+?) on Firefox. Also I need:

the tab bar redesign => change floating buttons back to connected tabs

the tab bar redesign => restore lines between the inactive/background tabs the theme => restore dark background behind tabs

I need this to happen without expecting me to mess around with code. I just need this to be restored. I need a fix that isn't prefaced by "not sure how long this will work." I need to not spend anymore time on this experimenting with random "custom" colors that just aren't right, because I can't remember exactly what it used to look like. I didn't have this info in my brain because I didn't know I would need it. The new themes are crap and hard on the eyes. I need Firefox to restore the "classic" option as a simple theme one can select. ARGH.
