A few days ago I set up my laptop from scratch after a long time of not using it. In the process, I set up Firefox Sync to link it to my desktop's browser. This is the only thing I have changed recently. However, after rebooting my laptop, I noticed that whenever I closed the browser and reopened it, it would not restore my previous tabs. Of course the options are set to restore my tabs from last time. Even the manual options to restore my previous session from the history menu are greyed out. And perhaps more bizarre of all, when I click the 'x' button to close the browser, I have to click it twice to close it - clicking it once does nothing. Firefox is the only application experiencing this odd issue.
I thought it was just my laptop and decided it was too much of a headache to worry about for now, since I rarely use that. I've been going about my business as usual on my desktop for the past few days with no issue...until I booted up my computer this morning and found the same situation. None of my tabs (and I had numerous tabs across multiple tab groups that I've been using with no problems for months!!), when I close and reopen the browser it still doesn't remember what was open when I closed it, and once again I have to click the close button twice for it to take. The 'restore session' options in the history menu are once again greyed out.
Everything else appears fine - all my add-ons are still there, and it's still recording my history when I open new pages and close the browser. It's just not restoring the tabs. This is extremely frustrating to me as someone who ALWAYS has several tabs open at any given time. At least on my desktop, Firefox says it's up to date, so that shouldn't be an issue (I thought maybe a browser update could fix it). Is there anything I can do to fix this, preferably recovering my previous sessions in the process? I lost quite a bit and I'm not too happy about that...but even if recovery is impossible, can I at least fix it so it retains my session history going forward? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For those who are not happy with Firefox's removal of the downloads display progress bar in the 25 series, you'll be even more unhappy with the 26 series. Even typing about:config and isetting browser.download.useToolkitUI to true no longer works. I sincerely despise companies that DO NOT provide their users OPTIONS, OPTIONS. OPTIONS! Instead of pissing off a sizable number of people who prefer things the way they were. Stop changing things for the worst! I want to monitor my downloads progress without having to take an extra step by clicking on the "Library" tab. Who are you trying to impress?

The 'update now' link takes me to the Java download page which invites me to download the latest Plugin 7.51. but i already have 7.51 installed so the plugin checker is incorrectly displaying "vulnerable - Update Now". I have had 7.51 installed since January 17th and run the plugin checker on a weekly basis so i'm not sure why it has suddenly decided that this is a vulnerable plugin.

My font change to italic then bold so fix it with downloading a font of windows and putting it to the font folder. After that restarted my computer and all font problem are back to normal but in Mozilla Firefox the problem is still there. YouTube title on videos are bold and the font is Segoe UI and when I check the default font in Firefox it is set to Segoe UI. When I change it back to the normal default font Times New Roman and click OK. Nothing happens and when I check it again in the option the default font is still Segoe UI. I tried the reset default on the troubleshooting mozilla and still the default font is Segoe UI. Can't change back the default font to Times New Roman. Need help!

I'm at my wit's end. I've installed the latest version of jre (7u45) and everything went well. Followed all the instructions here (http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Installing_Java) and here (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/manual-plugin-install-linux-136395.html) on setting up symbolic links and all. libnpjp2.so is now happily residing in my /usr/lib/browser-plugins folder. And when I start Firefox, nothing appears under Plug-Ins.
I've tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling both java and firefox numerous times to no avail. Firefox absolutely refuses to recognize java. Not sure what to do now.

I am using the latest Firefox (28.0) on Windows XP in a shared computer environment. Although I do not have Administrator access, I installed Firefox myself and can change whatever Firefox config settings I want (including about:config and mucking with the files in the installation directory).
I want to disable the tab that appears on Firefox startup, "Another program on your computer would like to modify Firefox with the following add-on". This tab usually appears once per day (the first time I startup Firefox each day). I want the tab not to appear at all, from now on.
The "another program" in question is some program that is used in the facility where I'm using the computer, so I can't just uninstall that program. Although this is a shared computer environment, they don't "wipe" the machine every day, just reboot. So the Firefox I installed is still there with all my config settings intact. As far as I know, I'm the only person who uses Firefox on this computer.
Solutions that don't work:
"Just click Continue" -- but then I still see the "Another program" tab every day, and don't want to see it.
"Click Remove in the Add-ons list" -- I removed the Add-on in question but the tab still appears every day.
I would like a solution that either eliminates the Add-on request for that particular application, or eliminates all such requests ("Another program...") regardless of what application requested it. The ideal solution would be if the request itself had a checkbox for "never ask this again" but, alas, no such luck.
Add-on compatibility check won't stop. Last time it was at 14 minutes before I stopped it.
That's pretty much it. When I try to open Firefox, the Update window pops up and it says "Checking your add-ons for compatibility with this version of Firefox", and then… (read more)

Hi! I've been having an unusual problem relating to, what I was told is the "built-in popup blocker" in Firefox, & that there's an about:config setting(s) that I need to change. Here are the problems I've been having: 1. When I try to place an order online I can't use Firefox, (& I'm forced to use the nasty old IE), because when I click on certain items I don't get the small drop-down menu that allows me to choose the flavor/size/quantity. (e.g. My dog's chew bones come in 4 flavors, but when I click on the bones I want I don't get the little drop-down menu that shows the flavors; I'm unable to continue placing the order because the site needs to know what flavor I want to order) 2. There are 5 sites showing streaming media of "nest-cams" of Bald Eagles; Peregrine Falcons & various other wildlife that I view daily. One site is http://www.wildearth.tv/cam/pittsburgh-bald-eagles; however, I can't view the site on my PC because this site, (& the other 4 as well), rely on "pop-up ads" for revenue, & if you have a free account rather than a paid subscription, the pop-up ads are just part of the viewing experience on the site. I was told by one of the Moderators that Firefox has a 'built-in' pop-up blocker, (not one that's added on as an extension/add-on/plugin), & that there's an about:config setting(s) that I need to change so I'm able to view my nest-cams on their sites. ***IMPORTANT INFORMATION*** If I go to any of the 5 'problem' sites using my iPad...sitting only inches away from my PC...using the same Internet connection...I can watch these sites perfectly!! Weird, huh?!?! So, I was told I need to go to about:config & make adjustment(s), but I don't want to screw anything up! I went there & looked through everything & there are several lines containing the word "pop-up", so I need the advice of someone who knows what to do. Tada...so her I am bothering you nice people! I'm running Windows 8.1 & using Firefox 34.0.5, (this is the device that won't let me view the nest cams); my iPad is new, v.8, (I think)..& I can & do watch any site I want, (including the 5 'problem' sites any time I want...the picture is too tiny for regular viewing & I can't take screenshots for the detailed records I keep, or I'd just use my iPad all the time). I have the box in Tools>Options UN-checked for 'Block Pop-up Windows', & I do NOT have any other pop-up blocker enabled in Firefox. I hope I gave enough info, but if you need to know anything else, just ask. Thank you for taking the time to read my post, & thanks in advance for any suggestions/instructions you may provide. I really need to be able to access these 5 sites using my PC because the nest-cams have been turned on for the 2015 Season & I'm desperate to get this matter resolved. It won't be long till there are eggs being laid & I have to be ready! :) Thanks a bunch! Nuts4Mutts :)

Hi
We use FFox in a corporate environment due to issues with IE on certain intranet pages.
The existing version 17 had a number of files that we used to customise and lock down firefox, ie preventing users going in in safe mode etc.
These files no longer appear to be present in v24.2.0
I need to prevent users from pressing the shift key and entering ffox in safemode as they could disable/remove the plugins we use to assist locking down the application.
Can someone please advise on how I can achieve this in this version.
thanks

I switched to Firefox and Thunderbird after having a lot of trouble with MIE and Windows Live mail. I love them both and am very grateful to Mozilla. Now I have some problems with my hands and find voice recognition software a great boon.
I find I can do less with voice recognition in the Mozilla programs than in their Microsoft counterparts. Voice recognition "experts" tell me the reason is in the Mozilla programs rather than in the voice recognition software that I use.
Whether or not this is correct, I do not know. However, I don't want to be forced back to the Microsoft browser and email client, and so have posed my question to you.
