What minimum memory spec is recommended for current Firefox usage? Have new computer with 16GB memory, 512 storage, intel core Ultra 5-225 processor & windows 11. Have not set it up yet.

I'm very frustrated with FF. It's running slow. Downloads are slow etc. I've tried everything that FF has recommended up to and including "refresh" with no effect. It's getting to the point I'm considering not using FF. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I have been using firefox for 3 to 4 years now and it's the best brower i have ever used but from a few months it have gotten too slow i am a student and need to create projects and research alot so i have to open around 20 tabs at a single time but before even after opening 30 tabs it would be fast as ever. I don't have any security extension or whatever i just have AdGuard AdBlocker extention, volume booster and grammerly and screenshot taker and hoxx vpn (it was before as well) but the firfox has become so slow now. (I have custom and max protection on) and additional windows protection too. and sometimes it just stop responding and also hangs up and closes own it own.

I walked away from my laptop for about an hour and when I came back my task bar was gone. What happened to it? and how do I get it back? Below is the spec's of my lap top that I use/have been using/task bar missing

I restarted Firefox on my Mac earlier, which I think updated it from 136 to 137. After reopening it, web pages won’t load anymore. They either time out or just load indefinitely without doing anything. I went through the troubleshooting page and tried reinstalling it, which didn’t help. My computer’s firewall is off as well. I’ve tried refreshing it multiple times, and I get a message that Firefox has crashed before it actually refreshes. After that, pages will load normally for a very short amount of time (about 30 seconds) before stopping again. Pages are still loading normally on Chrome and Safari, so it’s only Firefox that’s having an issue. Does anyone have any solutions for what this could be/ways to fix it?

This new version of firefox. I am experiencing icons grey out whenever I opened a new tab. Is anyone experiencing this below?

For some weeks I have ad an issue with Firefox using 50%-100% of CPU. Normally it is the Firefox process itself, sometimes it is also "Privileged Cont".

OS is Kubuntu 24.04. Firefox has done this across 2-3 versions.

Things I have tried:

Restarting Firefox No change, I'll even get 100% cpu usage with no tabs open

Refresh Firefox to remove settings and addons No change

Uninstall Snap and try direct Apt package No change

Remove ~/.mozilla to fully remove any residual settings/cache/etc No change

Try with and without hardware acceleration See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1308215 No change!

I would blame my old computer hardware, but Brave runs fine. I am now using Brave, but would dearly like to return to Firefox as I miss containers, and I don't support a chromium dominated web.

I am running Firefox in Windows 7 on a PC. When I start up Firefox, in WINDOWS Task Manager there appear between 20 and 30 instances of firefox.exe of different sizes in the Processes Window. I can End Process on most of them without shutting down Firefox or any of the other instances of firefox.exe. However if I shut down one listed with about 200,000K of Memory (Private Working Set), then Firefox shuts down and all other instances of Firefox disappear. If I open an new tab in Firefox, more instances of firefox.exe appear.

I have never seen this behavior before. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but the same behavior occurred. Is this normal behavior, or should I be concerned?

I have enclosed screen shots from the Task Manager. I also have a Dump File of a couple of the firefox.exe instances, including the large one, if that would be helpful.

Когда firefox зависает и windows предлагает его убить, firefox получает права системы и по этому становиться не убиваемым.Система не может его убить потому что у его права системы .В первые заметил этот баг когда сделал браузер firefox браузером по умолчанию.У меня сим роутер при запуске системы открывает браузер тут та браузер и зависает (не всегда ,но часто) в диспетчере задач в этот момент у его права системы.Писал в майрософт ,майкрософт посоветовал пользоваться нормальным браузером и сменить браузер по умолчанию .По совету майкрософт сменил браузер по умолчанию на chrome проблема пропала. I have been experiencing issues of extreme CPU consumption.

When I look at Task Manager, I see tabs consuming resources - tabs I have closed.

See attached open tabs screen shot, and task manager screen shot. The Register (tech website) is clearly consuming CPU and memory, even though I closed that tab yesterday. WTF is going on?

Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon Cinnamon 6.8.0-90-generic

Firefox is installed from the package manager, not as a flatpack.

Extensions: Privacy Badger, and uBlock Origin are installed and active on most tabs. (YouTube has become temperamental about privacy extensions, and a few other Google-related sites as well) CookieAutoDelete - though that just deletes cookies/sites data some seconds after a tab is closed.

The Register example is just for reference. The service that seems to consume large quantities of CPU, even after I close all related tabs is YouTube. It has on occasion made the system crash.

For the last day I've been having a problem with FF slow to load. I've tried the troubleshoot mode with little change. When it does load I can have problems with certain web sites loading e.g. Youtube, MSNBC, AOL mail etc. It's never consistent. The cache is clean and I've saved all the relevant cookies, I checked my internet provider and they are having no problems and I don't seem to be having any internal hdw issues e.g. ethernet cable connections etc. I reinstalled FF-not a clean install and seemed to help for a time. Do I have any options other than a refresh? I don't seem to be having the same issues with Edge or Chrome. All W11 updates are current. I look forward to anyone's comments.

Firefox Nightly (next generation web browser test) has no animation delay when playing sprunki, but there is a bug in the beta and current versions that become delay. (That's why I use other browsers.) There is no delay in other browsers. I hope it will be fixed.

Lately, I’ve noticed Firefox consuming more RAM, especially with multiple tabs open. Is this a common issue in recent updates? What are some tips to optimize Firefox performance on lower-end PCs? Would love to hear your experiences!

Firefox has recently started crashing multiple times per day. The crashes do not seem to be website specific.

I believe this problem began in 133. I've noticed that if FF is open for a few hours, it starts to develop a very noticeable input lag. For example, if I'm watching a YouTube video and hit an arrow key to advance the video, there will be a couple of seconds before the browser registers the key press. It behaves like a high CPU issue but I do not detect high CPU usage when this is happening. Restarting the browser resolves the issue for a few hours.

This is happening on Windows 11 as well as on a Mac running Sonoma.

Hello. My tablet, has limited memory, due to its age. I am now finding that one of the main reasons why it is so slow is because whenever I open firefox, it opens multiple firefox processes which drain the memory and in some cases crashes the system. I have followed all the advice given to reduce these multiple processes, however nothing seems to work and at least 6-8 firefox processes open each time I open it. I have unchecked the recommended performance settings as well as hardware acceleration boxes. However, I cannot find where to set the content process limit to 1. Please tell me how to do this and if there anything else I can try to stop it opening multiple processes or I may be forced to ditch Firefox altogether for an alternate such as Bing, Chrome or DuckDuckGo.
