I recently updated my Firefox browser from version 136. to version 137. and after the update I was unable to get online to any website I tried and Firefox would freeze and crash, generating a crash report that Mozilla probably didn't get because firefox couldn't send it. Safari was working, as was Chrome, so I know it wasn't a network issue. I cleared the cache and tried again and still nothing. I then uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it from the Mozilla website, (had to use Safarii to get the Mozilla website) and still could not get to any websites. I'm on a Mac runnning OS 15.3.2 and I have a bootable backup of my machine that still had a copy of Firefox v 136 which i reinstalled on my mac and it works. What can I do to update to 137?

I have observed that firefox has a coloring problem. When firefox is minimized to the toolbar, after a while, maybe a few minutes, when it is opened, there is always black uncolored content at the bottom of the screen, occupying about 1/3 of the height.

Attached are two screenshots.

What is going on with firefox, are is it being even more dminished now by microsoft and google? since some update, i cant watch even a youtube video due to the length of time it takes with buffering and loading , and my university LMS pages arent loading and trying to download a pdf from researchgate not even working.

embedded apps like padlet dont seem to be working either

I have flushed out cookies and caches and restarted many times - still the same issues, I went in to troubleshoot mode and still the same issues.

If i try Microsoft Edge it seems things are working fine, and if i access firefox using a VPN (i am in australa, but i set it to a country in europe) then firefox works fine -- what is going on?

please fix this

Firefox was working normal, but the next day the program stopped working. Only changes was a security update from Microsoft Security.

If I click the Firefox icon, nothing happens, If i click to open Firefox as an admin, I get an nearly empty window for Firefox (Image added).

I have totally uninstalled Firefox (with the folder "Old Firefox Data"), and reinstalled Firefox, but to no avail !!!

Any solutions ???

Hi, strange things happening with Firefox of late. Eg, when trying to log in my mail on o2.pl with saved login/password, now the log in page loads and doesn't show the saved login, doesn't allow me to click in any box either (it previously did it flawlessly). When googling images, it only shows some images and when I scroll down it doesn't show more. Some pages won't load properly. "Content failed to load" on chatgpt. And miscellaneous other glitches on other websites. I have some tabs opened, I want to keep them, don't want to reset Firefox. The problems only appeared with recent updates. What to do? Best. W.

I use Pocket on my MacBook Air 2017 MACOS Monterey 12.7.6, and used it daily for years. I cannot access Pocket just now so cannot give you any data about its version. Below is a screenshot of the Firefox version that I just loaded yesterday but which is also refusing to load any link, incl. Pocket. No error message now; yesterday when Firefox refused to load anything, a message saying "Not Secure" showed up atop my screen left of the link I was attempting; it showed up for every link I tried, but is no longer showing up at all, though Firefox continues to be unable to load any link. Second screenshot below is my current attempt to load 2 links plus Pocket, a video of it would show all 3 loading attempts on the screenshot having the little dot moving back and forth side-to-side but never loading. Hope this helps! And thank you kindly for assisting me, Alasdair Coyne

Is this a bug or config problem?

Occasionally, FF (Linux desktop) starts using a lot of memory. I kill tabs (sometimes it is OK to kill YouTube or X, sometimes not)

Eventually it starts impacting the system using so much memory. I terminate the FF instance. Often. More often than not. There is a separate task still running and I get the "Firefox is still running" when I try to restart. I then kill the remaining FF task via the OS or the process monitor. Then FF restarts.

Is this an issue with addons (I am running very few - uBlock Orign, and Privacy Badger and Cookie AutoDelete. Are the only ones active most of the time) Or is it an actual bug with garbage collection, and tasks getting away? Or is it an OS issue?

Firefox is running too many processes in the background. You have eliminated access to the user settings to be able to reduce that number. It is using so much memory (two tabs, one window, 1400 MB) it is becoming a nuisance rather than an asset. How do I reduce the number of processes. Thanks

For the last several days, Firefox has become nearly unusable. It started using an excessive number of processes. Then I started getting very frequent hanging and "Mozilla Firefox (not responding). It may freeze for several minutes, and often I have to shut down and restart my PC. It then takes much longer than usual to shut down, and after restarting, it takes several tries to get Firefox to open. A couple days ago, I updated Firefox to the new version for Windows 7 Vista, and it may have actually gotten worse.

It took me about 25 minutes to type this short description of the problem because it froze several times.

I restarted Firefox on my Mac earlier, which I think updated it from 136 to 137. After reopening it, web pages won’t load anymore. They either time out or just load indefinitely without doing anything. I went through the troubleshooting page and tried reinstalling it, which didn’t help. My computer’s firewall is off as well. I’ve tried refreshing it multiple times, and I get a message that Firefox has crashed before it actually refreshes. After that, pages will load normally for a very short amount of time (about 30 seconds) before stopping again. Pages are still loading normally on Chrome and Safari, so it’s only Firefox that’s having an issue. Does anyone have any solutions for what this could be/ways to fix it?

Hi all,

I would like to know if this color issue is expected behavior or a bug somewhere on my system.

I am using a monitor (Acer ET322QK wmiipx) which displays color at a depth of 10 bits per channel (for a total of 30-bit color depth). When viewing images which have color depth exceeding 8 bits per channel, color banding is visible in Firefox that does not appear in GNOME Image Viewer, indicating that the image is not being displayed at the correct color depth. I've attached an image with 16 bits per channel color depth as an example. This sphere render is deliberately dim to make color banding more obvious. It should look smooth/unbanded on a display with support for colors with greater than 8 bits per channel.

By opening the Firefox console with Ctrl+Shift+K and entering "screen.colorDepth", I have confirmed that the display is identified by Firefox as having 24-bit color depth.
