After Firefox has been open more than a few minutes, usually with at least two or three windows and/or tabs open, when I try to type accented characters (á, é, í, ó, ú Á É Í Ó Ú) they come out with an extra accent mark preceding the accented letter (´á ´é ´í ´ó ´ú). I usually have a WebWhatsApp window open.

This doesn't happen in other browsers or other programs that take text.

At the same time, the Ctrl+F (for find) function stops working. If I close all of the windows, and attempt to reopen Firefox, I get an error that says that Firefox is still running, and do I want to close it? I say yes, and it closes. And for a short or longer while, the problems go away. Then they come back.

In English words have to be separated by spaces even if you use them together as composite concept. For example the concept "spelling check" is a composition of spelling and check. In Dutch those words should be spelled without space: "tekstcontrole" is correct, "tekst controle" isn't. The Firefox spell check is only recognizing the separate words (tekst and controle) and is underlining the contraction (tekstcontrole) as incorrect when in fact only the latter is correct. This is not an exception, in fact most sentences have such words, so using the Firefox spelling check in Dutch always results in lots of red lines.

Corperate softwarw download. so saying download another version is not going to help and it would not fix the issue.

so i download the version available Firefox ESR V2.4.8 - 2.4.5 (CCK2)

now for some reason it thinks i want FF in french I do not. and i do not have any idea why it chose french.

my location in Germany. my operating language is English. others in the office are German and and have German operating systems and they get FF in German. what gives?

yes i have been to Contenu - Langues - and selected English but as you know that only tells what language to show the pages in and has no bearing on the UI.

so back to the French would it have picked up on my corp. user name? or may family name? which just so happens to be French.

oh expect loads of spelling errors in this as the spell check is working overtime in FRENCH.

BUT FF is going that deep into the user info that is not good. So how do i change the language in the UI.

regards Nick

I'm a native Dutch speaker, and also read and write a lot in English. Hence I have two dictionaries installed for spell checking: Dutch and English.

I often find myself using one language on one page, and the other on the next, thus having to switch the spell checker dictionary between Dutch and English all the time.

What would be VERY convenient, is either

1. The possibility to use two (or any number) dictionaries at the same time.

Or better yet:

2. The possibility to 'auto detect' the current language, and use that dictionary.

This auto detect thing could simply consist of seeing what dictionary results in the least number of detected spelling errors, and use that.

Thanks for your consideration, this sounds like a rather simple feature to me, yet I've been missing it for many years, and I have in fact found quite some similar requests from other people throughout the internet as well! It would make a great addition to Firefox!

After each of at least the last three Firefox updates (I was gone in the month of May and thus may be unaware of other updates), the language bar will not perform properly. Microsoft Word accepts Japanese entry correctly, but in Firefox it does not operate properly, specifically: once the language option is set to "Japanese," with input specified to be via hiragana, when I enter text it appears in unhighlighted Latin letters and neither offers kanji suggestions nor allows kana input.

My machine is a fully updated Windows XP machine. This problem always appears immediately after a Firefox update.

I am trilingual and thus installed support for English, Spanish and German and while on my phone, the keyboard is getting smart enough to guess sort of, which language I am writing the current word in, on the Desktop Browser I am not happy at all with how language needs manual switching. Worse, it shows completely pointless locales that I never consciously installed or asked for. 5 English locales, 6 German locales and 22 Spanish locales doesn't make it easier to switch languages. I end up picking random locales with the occasional surprises but would prefer to hide all but one locale per language, with a hotkey to cycle through or pick. How can I achieve a smoother language switching?

Whenever I use the Hiragana input method for Japanese (Mac) the keyboard freezes up every other time I try to type. After typing one sentence or phrase in Japanese, I need to manually switch to another language, then switch back to Japanese to unfreeze the keyboard for use in Firefox. I seems to get stuck when I am offered to choose between homophonous logographs i.e. 用紙 and 要旨, and although the arrow keys work to toggle between different choices, 'enter' nor 'space bar' will register, thus preventing me from naturally exiting the drop down scroll and moving on. This problem only occurs inside Firefox, and only with Japanese Hiragana (Chinese Pinyin works fine ironically). In Safari and other browsers the input method also works fine. Thank you for answering my question.

I have installed Google Noto Sans Sundanese and Cuneiform on my computer and Firefox have been able to display some Sundanese and Cuneiform characters (as in the first picture attachment). The problem is that 1) somehow it appears as mojibake in right-click menu; and 2) it also appears as mojibake in these page on wikibooks: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Unicode/Character_reference/1000-1FFF (Sundanese part) and https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Unicode/Character_reference/12000-12FFF and also in wiktionary for example: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%F0%92%8C%8B as in the second picture. I have installed the fonts for sometimes and they still appear like that.

Not like English, in Korean, one single letter is combined with 2 or more characters. Ex) 대 = ㄷ + ㅐ, 한 = ㅎ + ㅏ + ㄴ, 민 = ㅁ + ㅣ + ㄴ, 국 = ㄱ + ㅜ + ㄱ

So when you type Korean, there're 2 types of character status. 1) Completed letter 2) Uncompleted letter(where the focus of cursor at).

Case 1) has no problem. But in case 2), I need to push delete button one more time at the last remained character.

Ex) [Type ㅎ] : ㅎ [Type ㅏ] : 하 [Type ㄴ] : 한 [Delete]  : 하 (ㄴ removed) [Delete]  : ㅎ (ㅏ removed) [Delete]  : ㅎ (Here's a problem. Nothing changed and ㅎ is still there. [Delete]  : null (Then it's removed)

Seems nothing, but it's very uncomfortable to me.

Since FF updated to 60.0.1 (64bit) on linux Mint, the date formatting on some sites has changed from English US (mm/dd/yy) to English Europe (dd/mm/yy). The FF language preference is set to (1) English [en] and (2) English/united States [en-us] (I tried it with the order reversed as well). Going to the same sites on the same machine with Chrome displays US date format. Any ideas?
